00:00So what attracted you to the role of Gamora?
00:04James Gunn.
00:05And the possibility of joining the Marvel family and doing a Marvel movie
00:10and sort of putting something out there, again,
00:13that my nieces and nephews would be excited about
00:17and I can stay cool with them for the rest of my life.
00:20What did you like most about playing the role of Gamora?
00:24Well, the fact that she was such a wonderful asset to the Guardians,
00:31that she has this perfect sense of justice, as my 12-year-old nephew likes to say.
00:38And she's just somebody that's so versatile.
00:42She comes from such a dark past, but yet she has so much hope
00:46and she wants to do good.
00:48So I liked that redemption arch for her.
00:54What was it like working with Chris Pratt as Peter Quill?
00:59It was great. He's a very gentle soul.
01:02Actually, all these actors that I got to work with are very gentle and absolutely talented.
01:08And Chris just gave 150% every single day, like mind, body, and soul,
01:14into his part, into the movie.
01:16And he's really funny.
01:17I like working with comedians that don't take themselves too seriously
01:21because you know that you go to work to laugh.
01:25Because you're kind of like they're test dummies.
01:27They're trying every joke on you, and you laugh, you know?
01:33That's fun.
01:34Can you talk about the relationship between Peter Quill and Gamora?
01:38It's a complex relationship.
01:40Yes, it is.
01:40It's complex, but I just feel like it's very conventional.
01:44You know, guy meets girl.
01:46Guy wants girl.
01:47But guy still has other girls.
01:50Girl kind of tells guy,
01:51you need to really kind of straighten yourself out.
01:54And guy just annoys girl all the time until eventually she likes him.
02:01But, of course, in this case, girl has green skin.
02:04And can you talk about the challenges of the makeup
02:06and the whole green skin experience?
02:11That was a bit of a canker sore, I have to say.
02:15You know, the thought of being in a film
02:18where I would get to see how gravity is defied
02:21is what thrills me about doing these kinds of films.
02:24Getting there, the process of it,
02:27had been easy for me up until now.
02:30You know, doing motion capture isn't as difficult, at least for me.
02:34But doing this the old style way
02:37where you get to sit down
02:38and you kind of go through the whole Michael Jackson
02:40and Eddie Murphy process of transformation
02:42is not easy if you are a very ADD person
02:46and you're very impatient.
02:48And you just go, oh my God, how long have we been here?
02:51Three hours.
02:52Three hours!
02:53Okay, great, are we done?
02:54It's like, no, baby, we have two more hours to go.
02:55It's like, oh my God, make this end, please.
02:59And it was like every day for five months.
03:01But then the end result was so rewarding.
03:03It just made it all worth it.
03:04And did you have to do a lot of physical training
03:06and weapons training and that kind of stuff too?
03:09A little, but I came with a lot of my own training
03:12already in here and here,
03:14so from all the past films that I've done.
03:17And so this one was also just a treat
03:20for me to be able to go,
03:21oh wow, I still have some techniques from before,
03:24from the past,
03:25so I'm just going to take this a little easy on myself.
03:27It was, it felt, it was a great feeling.
03:29It felt, it was a great feeling.
