00:00How did you do it? Tell me, please.
00:02Welcome to Ms. Mojo. And today, we're counting down the lingering questions from both Wicked
00:07Movies that still have us fully confusified. Just to clarify, these are questions that were
00:12not answered in-universe. Naturally, there will be spoilers ahead.
00:16There is a Grimmery translator that makes it very clear what this spell at the end of the movie
00:21really meant.
00:23Number 10. Why does Glinda send Dorothy to the Wizard?
00:27One thing that has us questioning the Wizard of Oz's whole premise is why Glinda would
00:31send Dorothy to the Wizard, knowing he's all smoke and mirrors.
00:35The Wizard of Oz? Is he good or is he wicked?
00:38Oh, very good, but very mysterious. He lives in the Emerald City, and that's a long journey
00:43from here. Did you bring your broomstick with him?
00:46No, I'm afraid I didn't. Well, then, you'll have to walk.
00:50Did she think he'd fashion Dorothy a bubble like hers and let her float back to Kansas?
00:54Had she convinced herself that he and his bag of tricks are truly wonderful?
00:59Or did she just need an excuse to get Dorothy out of Munchkinland? And if so,
01:03why send her on the scenic route?
01:05I swear it never ends with that girl.
01:07That worked out well for one scarecrow, who needed cover to get to Kiyomiko.
01:11Yes, this isn't that story, but we still would have liked to see what was going through his
01:15straw-stuffed head.
01:16To us!
01:17We were off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of ours.
01:21With here he is, the wizard of a whiz, whatever a whiz that was.
01:25Number 9. How did Bach not know of Glinda's engagement?
01:29For some reason, the opening of The Yellow Brick Road is celebrated in Munchkinland.
01:33Happy is what happens.
01:35Glinda the girl.
01:36This turns into a double celebration when Madame Morrible announces Glinda and Fierro's
01:47surprise engagement.
01:48Tell us, Captain. How does it feel?
01:51Being engaged.
01:55We're engaged.
01:56Surprised?
01:58Yes.
01:59It's not exactly a subtle affair, either.
02:01Surely, Bach would have at least heard that Glinda was coming to town for a special event?
02:05And isn't the opening of a new road exactly the kind of event a governor might attend?
02:10Maybe even bring her companion along?
02:13Did she turn down the invite, knowing full well that Bach had feelings for Glinda?
02:17If so, she may have also wanted to hide the newspapers that had news of the engagement
02:21splashed across them.
02:22The moment when I read, Glinda's going to be wed to fear.
02:30Glinda.
02:31Yes, Nessa, that's right.
02:33Number 8.
02:34Does Dr. Dillamond get his speech back, and can he see without his glasses?
02:38In one of the most touching shots from the finale, we see Dr. Dillamond take his rightful
02:42place back in his classroom at Shiz, after Glinda brings an end to animal persecution.
02:47I'd like to try to be Glinda the Good.
02:51Last time we saw him, he was in a cage and seemed to have lost his ability to speak.
02:56Now here he is, back where he belongs, and we couldn't wait to hear his first words as
03:01a free goat, and we're still waiting.
03:03So does he have his speech back by the time he returns to Shiz?
03:07Or is it still a work in progress?
03:09Also, his glasses are at Elphaba's house.
03:11We thought he couldn't see without his glasses.
03:13Listen to me!
03:14You're not being told the whole story!
03:17We've all gazed into 2025's Sexiest Man Alive's eyes enough to know they're brown.
03:26Yet Fierro's eyes are a bewitching blue.
03:29That is, until his transformation at the end of the movie.
03:32The film itself makes no attempt to explain this switch.
03:35Or does it?
03:36The reason why we did that will become clear in the second film.
03:39As Jonathan Bailey shared, there's a particular lyric in As Long As You're Mine that may
03:44double as foreshadowing for this sudden change in eye color.
03:47But you've got me seeing through different eyes.
03:56So we guess they decided to take a quite literal approach then.
03:59Even if that's not the official answer, it sounds like Bailey certainly saw more clearly
04:03once he had those blue contacts removed.
04:06I did feel like I was in a greenhouse looking out towards Jeff Goldblum.
04:09Yeah, no, it was, um, it definitely is, uh, it's a different experience.
04:13Have you ever filmed with, uh, contact lenses?
04:15Yes.
04:16And it does, it does sort of restrict, but it, you know, it was, I think it'll be worth it.
04:19Number six.
04:20How long is it between movies slash acts?
04:23Gregory Maguire's novel specifies that five years have passed since the events we see depicted
04:27in Defying Gravity.
04:28No wizard that there is or was is ever gonna bring me die.
04:40Only hope you're happy.
04:42No camera.
04:43Yet neither the show nor the movie really explains whether they adhere to this timeline or have
04:48forged their own.
04:49In the film, Madame Morrible informs us that there have been 12 tide turns.
04:53It's more important than ever that you lift everyone's spirits as only you can.
05:04According to book and screenplay writer Winnie Holtzman, while we may not have a clue what
05:08that means, Ozians would understand that to mean a year.
05:11Apparently, they wanted just long enough for other events to have passed since, but not
05:16long enough to make it ancient history.
05:18Well, at least we weren't the only ones waiting a whole year.
05:20It was only me.
05:23I have been saved.
05:30Number 5.
05:32Does Glinda truly believe water melted Elphaba?
05:35Between L. Frank Baum and Maguire, the Wicked Witch slash Elphaba's watery fate was pretty
05:39sealed.
05:40Melting!
05:41Melting!
05:42Oh, what a world!
05:44What a world!
05:45Who thought a good little girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness?
05:50Yet the musical, as we know, found a way to retcon this ending.
05:54The one thing it doesn't explain is where this rumor that Water Will Melter even began.
05:59I hear some rebel animals are giving her food and shelter.
06:03I hear her soul is so unclean.
06:06Pure water can melt her!
06:08More importantly, did Glinda actually believe it?
06:12When it first comes up, Fierro instantly shuts down the idea.
06:16I can't just start my grinning, pretending to go along with all this.
06:19Glinda, who once roomed with Elphaba and probably was at least aware of her hygiene habits, seems
06:24far less certain.
06:25Or maybe she didn't truly believe it until Dorothy threw that bucket of water, and she watched
06:30what she thought was her friend melting right in front of her.
06:33Number 4.
06:34Did Bach and Glinda recognize each other?
06:37During March of the Witch Hunters, Bach and Glinda share a look, and if looks could drop
06:41a house out of the sky, she'd be in trouble.
06:43Stop this.
06:44It's gone too far.
06:47Elphaba, they're coming for you.
06:50She catches his eye, but it's unclear if she recognizes him.
06:53Why would she?
06:54He's certainly become steelier since they last met.
06:57What have you done to me?
06:58Director John M. Chu believes she recognized Bach's eyes.
07:01At that distance?
07:02Impressive.
07:03And did he continue his pursuit of Glinda or finally accept things as they are?
07:08Chu says that look may have been his moment of acceptance as his bitterness took over whatever
07:12affection he had left.
07:14We also wonder if Bach and Fierro recognized each other after teaming up with Dorothy.
07:18In the room of the Wicked Witch of the West, so I have proof that she's dead.
07:26Number 3.
07:27What's on the note Fierro leaves Elphaba?
07:30Both on stage and on screen, Chistery brings Elphaba a message that convinces her it's time
07:35to surrender.
07:36And we're left with so many unanswered questions.
07:38I've been thinking.
07:40Yeah, I heard.
07:41Of course, neither version can reveal the message's contents without giving away the
07:45twist ending.
07:46But that doesn't stop us from wondering.
07:48Dearest Elphaba, miraculously, I've managed to escape thanks to the spell you've cast
07:53on me.
07:54I've had to pay a great price, but my love is still growing strong for you.
07:58I only hope that you will still want me when we next meet.
08:01I have a plan for us and I will come to you and explain it.
08:04Tell no one I am still alive.
08:06Also, why did the film change it from an actual note to a torn piece of Fierro's uniform?
08:11Is it meant to prove to Elphaba that it truly came from him?
08:14Even so, isn't that a huge clue for the audience?
08:17And when did Fierro even write this note?
08:19Did he and Elphaba plan everything in advance?
08:21And this was simply the signal that it's go time?
08:24Now, this may not have been what was written in the note in the Wicked film.
08:27Hopefully, someday in these special features, we will learn what that note says.
08:31Number 2.
08:33What did Glinda whisper to Elphaba?
08:35A question the most diehard fans have wondered since they first saw the show's poster.
08:39Some have even written dissertations dissecting the image.
08:42I know.
08:43Let's tell each other something we've never told anyone before.
08:45Chu kept that tradition alive by ending for good with Glinda leaning in and whispering
08:50something to Elphaba that makes her smile.
08:52Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande have vowed not to reveal what was said, and their director
08:57fully supports their secrecy.
08:59Tell me, please.
09:00I can keep a secret.
09:01At the very least, they've handed future Ozian scholars plenty of fresh dissertation material.
09:06But also, we still really want to know.
09:08We're probably more likely to see a monkey sprout wings in our world than ever find out.
09:12Maybe for the 10th anniversary?
09:14Please?
09:15You know, I asked really nicely.
09:16Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
09:20Did Elphaba go back to Shiz University for her things?
09:23Is that why Glinda has Elphaba's boots?
09:25What plan?
09:38Just one of the cutscenes from the trailers that we're hoping will be released as a deleted
09:42scene.
09:43Here's the plan.
09:45I have no plan.
09:46Well, I do.
09:47Oh, thank Oz.
09:48Why is Elphaba and Nessa Rose's dad the governor of Munchkinland?
09:52The Throps aren't Munchkins as far as we know.
09:54After all, the Wicked Witch had a childhood.
09:58She had a father, who, by the way, had been appointed governor of Munchkinland.
10:02I'm off to the assembly, dear.
10:04Does Chistery know Elphaba's alive?
10:06Did Fierro include him in the plan when he handed him the note?
10:09Please protect her.
10:10What happens to Nessa's shoes after Dorothy leaves Oz?
10:14Does Glinda hold on to them?
10:15Do they have a place beside Elphaba's boots?
10:17Bye, Dorothy.
10:18Bye, Dodo.
10:19It's just that one road the whole time.
10:21What a touching display.
10:25Shoes.

10:41Number 1.
10:42What did the Grimmery say to Glinda?
10:44The movie ends with the Grimmery opening for Glinda, leaving fans to wonder what it means.
10:49Did Elphaba do it?
10:51Has Glinda finally earned magic now that she's truly trying to be good?
10:54We can't let good be just a word.
10:57It has to mean something.
10:59Can she actually read it?
11:01The book isn't supposed to be readable by just anyone.
11:03In Oz's darkest hour, though we cannot say when, there will come one with a power to
11:13be the Grimmery.
11:17And what spell did it choose for her?
11:20With time, patience, and a clear screenshot, we can at least answer that last question.
11:25There's apparently a Grimmery decoder on the official Wicked website.
11:28So if you got a clear shot of the page or bought the popcorn bucket replica, you can decode
11:33it yourself.
11:34It may not be canonical, but based on what fans found, we hope it is.
11:39A healing spell to help Glinda through being alone and losing everyone.
11:43It's a spell that says heal, revive, and your pain and fear will subside when real magic is
11:49applied.
11:49Do you have any other questions you really need answered?
