00:00Hello, everybody.
00:19What a nice group of Democrats.
00:23We do.
00:23We have a lot of Democrats, and we welcome you.
00:26Honestly, we do.
00:26And I think we're going to start working together in health care.
00:30I really predict that.
00:31Are we, you know?
00:32Boy, I see some very friendly faces.
00:35I see some faces that are friendly, but they could be friendlier.
00:39But I think we're going to do great.
00:41And we've got a lot of good things to happen.
00:44We know our First Lady.
00:45She worked so hard on making this so beautiful.
00:49And the decorations.
00:51She's been given wonderful reviews for the trees and all of the Christmas decorations.
00:55So, thank you very much.
00:59So, we have a very special Congresswoman with us.
01:03Julia Letlow.
01:05Where is Julia?
01:07And it was just announced, and in fact, I just heard that she went to the dip room where
01:14she officially announced, with a very handsome man, her engagement.
01:19Okay?
01:20Where is Julia?
01:21Julia, where are you?
01:22Come on up.
01:23Julia.
01:26That's a big deal.
01:27Come on, Julia.
01:28Let's go, Julia.
01:29That's a big deal.
01:34That's bigger than, that transcends politics.
01:37Look at Julia.
01:38Oh, he's so lucky.
01:39He's the luckiest guy.
01:40He's a handsome guy, too.
01:42Thank you very much.
01:43Thank you very much.
01:44Thank you very much.
01:45Thank you very much.
01:46Congratulations.
01:47Thank you very much.
01:48Let me see that ring.
01:49Oh, that's a nice ring.
01:50That's fantastic.
01:51Do you want to say something?
01:52Well, thank you so much.
01:54The best president of my entire life, the entire United States of America.
02:10He's got a great woman.
02:11Great woman.
02:12He's got a great woman.
02:13It's a fantastic couple.
02:14Thank you very much.
02:16So I want to just welcome everybody to the White House.
02:20It's a very special tradition.
02:25And it's interesting because all other times, oh, look, I have my favorite congressman.
02:29How are you, congressman?
02:31You know, it's very interesting because all other Christmas occasions, everyone's quiet.
02:39When there are all politicians in the room, they talk right through a speech.
02:42And that's okay.
02:43I don't mind that.
02:45But I want to welcome you all to the White House.
02:47It's an honor to have you.
02:48It's a special place.
02:50You know, for 150 years, they've been trying to do a ballroom.
02:53They never got it off, but we got it off.
02:55And in a very short period of time, like about a year and a half, you're going to have
03:01the best ballroom anywhere in the country, anywhere.
03:03It is, it is special.
03:05And they're going to be able to, we'll be able to host this in a larger setting.
03:09However, it won't be the same.
03:11So I think we'll keep this the same way.
03:13But we really did.
03:14We had a fantastic turnout.
03:16We had 12 different parties.
03:19And they asked me to go to speak at every party.
03:21And I did.
03:22I spoke at every single party.
03:25Then they announced, because of the fact that they have so many people, it's 11 people
03:30to turn down for everyone that makes it.
03:32So it's a very good feeling.
03:33But I did 11.
03:35Then they said, sir, would you do two more?
03:36I did two more.
03:37And I said, did Biden do this too?
03:40I don't think so.
03:41I would love it if he did.
03:43It would have been very interesting.
03:45But we have a lot of things happening.
03:49We have a congressional ball.
03:51We have so many different.
03:52But what we really need to celebrate is Christmas.
03:54So I want to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas.
03:57A very Happy New Year.
03:58Happy Hanukkah.
03:59Whatever it may be, it's going to be happy.
04:02And we're going to have a fantastic year.
04:05We have a fantastic year coming up.
04:07You know, never in our country have we had investment like has taken place over the last 10 months.
04:13We have $18 trillion plus already.
04:16And I think by the end of the year, it'll be over $20 trillion.
04:20That's more than any nation anywhere in the world at any time by quadruple, by quadruple.
04:27In the previous administration, just to give you a little fact, not to be hostile,
04:34but they had less than $1 trillion over four years.
04:38So we have 18, I think we'll have 20, but we have 18 over 10 months.
04:43So that's some, that's some number.
04:46And with that, and with that automatically comes jobs.
04:49And today, for the 52nd day, we hit an all-time stock market high.
04:55And that's great.
04:56And that means, that means 401 s.
04:59That means a lot of things are happening.
05:00It means jobs.
05:01And I think when the real numbers start coming out, and when the real pollsters start doing
05:06the polls, I think you're going to see some really fantastic numbers.
05:10And that's good for Republicans, frankly, and Democrats.
05:13I want to, again, thank our First Lady for working so hard on this.
05:18She's done so well.
05:20It's the, let's see, she's done it four times.
05:24This would be the fifth time.
05:26And I would say this is the best, although I like the red trees.
05:31She got criticized for the red trees.
05:33Then I liked the white trees, and she was criticized for the white trees.
05:38Then I liked the green trees, and she got criticized.
05:40Then she went back to green, and they love it.
05:42So I don't know what's going on.
05:43I think this is a little bit of a different administration, maybe, than the first.
05:47But I want to thank all of the great people in the room, both Democrat and Republican,
05:52who worked so hard on behalf of our great nation.
05:56You're members of the greatest legislative body in the history of our country, history of the world, really.
06:03And we have the greatest nation anywhere in the world, and it's getting stronger, bigger, better.
06:10And I just want to thank you, because sometimes we don't work together, but we come up with great ideas together.
06:17And that is true.
06:18So tonight, we're going to set aside all political differences.
06:22We're not going to criticize each other.
06:24We're going to love each other.
06:25And we're going to come together, not as Democrats and Republicans, but as fellow Americans, to give thanks for this nation, which is so great indeed.
06:34And it's a tremendous, I think it's a tremendous tribute that, I think it really is.
06:43I think it's a tremendous tribute that so many Democrats have joined us tonight.
06:47High level.
06:48I know almost every single name on the list.
06:51It's a very impressive list too, I must say.
06:53But let me also say a very special thanks to all of the spouses and loved ones here tonight.
06:59You make incredible sacrifices for us as politicians.
07:03I call myself now a politician.
07:05I never thought that was going to happen.
07:07I never thought that was going to happen, but it happened.
07:11But none of what we absolutely do whatever would be possible without you.
07:17And I want to thank my great wife, my great first lady for helping me.
07:22But every single one of you have been helped by your spouse.
07:26I want to also thank our really wonderful, great Vice President J.D. Vance, who's here.
07:34J.D., thank you.
07:37And second lady Usha Vance.
07:39Usha, thank you very much.
07:40Thank you, Usha.
07:43Also a man that a few of you might know, not very well, but you might know him.
07:48Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson.
07:50Where's Mike?
07:51What a great job you're doing.
07:53What a great job.
07:55And most importantly, you have a wonderful, beautiful wife.
07:58Thank you very much.
07:59Say hello to the boys, okay?
08:01It's great to have you both.
08:03It was really, it's not easy to manage with a majority of three.
08:08But we've been up to seven and we sort of veer back and forth.
08:12But he's done a job and he gets along very well with the Democrats.
08:16Sometimes I would say he gets along too well.
08:18That bothers me.
08:20We also have Senate Majority Leader John Thune here.
08:23Where's John?
08:24Where is John?
08:25One of the really good, he's a good, thank you.
08:29Oh wow, look at him.
08:30See, he always gives the best location to others.
08:33Thank you, John.
08:34Thank you for everything.
08:35You've done a great job.
08:36It's not easy, John.
08:37It's not easy.
08:38Thank you very much.
08:39House Majority Leader Steve Scalise.
08:40Where is Steve?
08:41Where is Steve, Mr. Speaker?
08:42I'll tell you what, you know, I always say he's got great courage because he got hit real
08:55hard.
08:56He got hit harder than I got hit.
08:58I got hit too, but I got little, you know, I have a throbbing feeling.
09:01He had much more than a throbbing feeling.
09:03In fact, I went to the hospital and they actually thought he wasn't going to make it.
09:08His wife was devastated.
09:10She was crying.
09:11I tell this story.
09:12I found out that night you have a wife that loves you dearly.
09:16I know many wives would not even be crying.
09:19But your wife, your wife was absolutely a mess.
09:22She was crying.
09:23She was inconsolable, Steve.
09:26So we found that out, but he made it.
09:28And then he went about four months later.
09:31He could barely walk.
09:32He went and he played second base in the game between the net, the you, between you and
09:37you people, right?
09:38Republicans and Democrats.
09:41He could barely walk.
09:42He could barely stand.
09:43He was not going to be the great Bobby Richardson, all-star second baseman of the New York Yankees
09:48for 15 years.
09:50And this could only happen by God.
09:52A shot was hit to him so hard.
09:56I said, oh, no.
09:57And it went right at him, fell to his knees, which was his only option because he couldn't
10:02bend.
10:03This was not a good looking picture.
10:05He knocked down the ball, picked it up, could barely grab it, threw it to first base.
10:10The runner, who was actually a very good Democrat athlete, was out.
10:15And I said that, and I said, and I've told this, that was a miracle.
10:21That was a miracle.
10:23And then brilliantly, after one hitter, the manager took him out of the game.
10:28Because there was no way that he was going to outdo that one.
10:31So, Steve, it's great that you're here.
10:33And we love you, Steve.
10:34And you went through a lot.
10:35Majority whip, Tom Emmer, a fantastic guy with a fantastic spouse.
10:40Where is Tom?
10:42Tom is a great guy.
10:44I don't know what you're going to do about Minnesota.
10:47Where?
10:48There he is.
10:49He's a handsome devil, his name.
10:54With an unbelievable wife who puts up with a lot of stuff.
10:59She does not have an easy job, Tom.
11:02You are a difficult man.
11:04And Tom is very friendly with the Somalians.
11:09You know, he's doing a great job.
11:11He's a big fan.
11:13He's a big fan of Somalia.
11:16He said, please correct that.
11:19Thank you, Tom.
11:23He's a great guy.
11:24He's done a fantastic job.
11:26And we really appreciate it.
11:28And you have so many members of the House and the Senate.
11:32But I just want to thank a few of them.
11:34And I really, I do mean it.
11:35I think it's fantastic that we're all here together tonight.
11:38We have cabinet members.
11:40And we have Marco is here.
11:42Scott Bessent is here.
11:43We add them all sort of here.
11:45Every single one.
11:47I won't call them out because they're not names that are going to get huge applause from this very substantially Democrat audience.
11:54But you know what?
11:55They're working.
11:56They're working toward making America great again.
11:59It's very simple.
12:00We are making America great again.
12:02I saw it today on a somewhat leftish broadcast.
12:08They were saying, you know, whether you like it or not, these numbers are starting to get very good.
12:12And they are.
12:13And that's good for all of us.
12:14We're in the season of joy and peace.
12:16We have so much to celebrate as a nation.
12:19Because one year ago, we really were.
12:21We were a country that was in serious trouble.
12:23There were those that say we were a country that was really not going to make it.
12:28And they were saying, we were not going to make it.
12:30Now we have the hottest country anywhere in the world.
12:33They're all saying it.
12:34Other leaders are saying it.
12:35The European nations are saying it.
12:37The European nations are reporting that your president might as well be the leader of the European nations also.
12:44They listen to us and they respect us like they've never respected us before.
12:48So we're going to work very hard.
12:50We get along with them.
12:51We want to get along with as many nations as we can.
12:54We've been ripped off by a lot of them for a lot of years.
12:57And frankly, a lot of the Democrats knew that better than some of the Republicans.
13:01But we've been ripped off and taken advantage of by friend and foe.
13:06And in many cases, friend was worse than foe.
13:09But not anymore.
13:10We have, I don't know if you noticed, the deficit was cut down by 64 percent.
13:18Nobody's ever heard of a number like that.
13:20You know why?
13:21A thing called tariffs.
13:22The tariffs are so big and so substantial.
13:25And it was just announced two weeks ago, the deficit's cut down by — nobody ever heard of a number like that.
13:30If the deficit goes down by 2 percent, it's like a great thing.
13:33The tariffs have reduced the deficit by 64 percent.
13:37Nobody has ever seen.
13:38And frankly, we haven't even started yet.
13:41It's given us strength.
13:42We've solved eight wars.
13:44Think of it.
13:45Eight wars have been solved.
13:46Although Thailand and Cambodia — I think I'm going to have to make a couple of phone calls on Thailand and —
13:52— but we'll get that one back on track.
13:55But think of it.
13:56We've solved eight wars that's never happened.
13:58And more Americans are working today than ever before in the history of our country.
14:03We've never had anything like it.
14:05We have more Americans working today than at any time by far in the history of our country.
14:12And 100 percent of all new jobs have been created — 100 percent created in the private sector.
14:19I mean, that's a big factor.
14:21Right, Virginia?
14:22Right?
14:23Also, just announced real wages are up for the typical worker by more than $1,000 a year.
14:32That's a record — $1,000 a year.
14:35And many of you in Congress worked very hard — both — both sides — this year to keep the promises that you were elected on
14:43and to deliver big wins for the American people.
14:46And Democrats worked very hard, too.
14:48I mean, I think you could get rid of a couple of your little policies, like men and women's sports, open borders, transgender for everybody.
14:55But other than that — other than that, I like what you're doing.
15:00You passed the largest tax cuts in American history.
15:03We all did that.
15:05We passed the largest spending cuts in American history.
15:09And we have the largest regulation cuts by far in American history.
15:13All of these things we just passed.
15:15You passed the Lake and Riley Act to get criminal aliens off the streets so they don't kill our people, hurt our people, mug our people, slice up our people, which is what they — what they did.
15:26They're not doing it so much because crime is way down.
15:29And you passed the Genius Act to unleash a new era of financial innovation.
15:35And on a bipartisan basis, working with a woman named Melania — have you heard of Melania?
15:42But working with our great First Lady, you passed the Take It Down Act to protect our nation's youths from some horrible people.
15:55And I think — I'm not sure — that was — this is hard to believe.
16:00I believe this is correct.
16:02It was just about a unanimous vote to which I said, maybe you should be doing my job because I don't get one vote.
16:09You know that it was — was it — did anybody vote against it?
16:13Even Rand Paul voted for it, right?
16:15Because Rand Paul is an automatic no vote.
16:18He's not a Democrat vote, but he's an automatic no.
16:21Everybody voted.
16:22I think it was just about unanimous.
16:24I can't believe it.
16:25She came home.
16:26I said, I heard you got a unanimous vote.
16:28Yeah.
16:29She looks at me like, you know, what was the big deal?
16:32But that was a great thing that she did and a great thing that all of you did.
16:35Very soon, I'll hopefully be signing a National Defense Authorization Act that makes a historic investment in the United States military, which I think most people want to see.
16:46And I look forward to working with each and every one of you in the coming year to make our nation stronger, safer, wealthier, healthier.
16:54And I really believe we can work on health care together and come up with something that's going to be much better, much less expensive for the people, less expensive for our nation.
17:04But really, most importantly, better and less expensive for the people.
17:09And we have an idea that rather than making these massive payments where they, you know, their stocks went up 1700 percent over a short period of time, the insurance companies, we make beautiful, big payments directly to the people and they buy their own health insurance.
17:27And it's so good and so popular and everybody wants it.
17:31And I think, frankly, I think a lot of the Democrats are going to want it, too.
17:35It's been a very popular ever since I uttered those words about a month ago.
17:39It's been very, very popular.
17:41So hopefully we can get that done together.
17:43So I want to just say in closing, have a fantastic.
17:47You can have a fantastic evening.
17:49This food is unbelievable.
17:51The White House is known for great food and it's better than that.
17:54And it's a great house.
17:55It's a special, special place.
17:58You know, I've had a lot of nice houses, but I have to tell you this house, it's just special.
18:03It's one of the reasons that every one of these events, all of them are packed, sold out, waiting room.
18:09And they're begging to come.
18:11People love the White House and people love our country.
18:14And we love the Republicans and we love the Democrats.
18:17So we love everybody else.
18:18We love everybody, especially tonight.
18:20Now, tomorrow I'll have to deny I ever said that, but that's okay.
18:24So I want to thank you.
18:25Maybe our first lady would like to say something.
18:27Good evening.
18:28Welcome to the White House.
18:29As the President said, our greatest triumph in my office, in the first lady office in 2025, is take a down act.
18:47I want to – I appreciate all of your support.
18:52I appreciate your bipartisan, overwhelmingly bipartisan support across the House and the Senate.
19:02Thank you, Mr. Speaker Johnson.
19:05And I hope you will be excited to support my new legislative initiative in 2026.
19:15Some of you already know about it because it's already in the works.
19:19Thank you very much.
19:20I wish you and your families a very happy and Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year.
19:27Well, I just heard about that for the first time.
19:34The only thing I can tell you – I know one thing for sure, Mr. Speaker.
19:39It's going to be great.
19:40It's going to be great for children.
19:42Okay?
19:43I don't know what it is she's doing.
19:45But I know it's going to be great for children.
19:48Because she loves children.
19:49And she's – she's got a wonderful boy.
19:52And she's very proud of her boy.
19:55But she loves children.
19:56And if she – if she puts it out, she may be unanimous again or whatever that was.
20:00But very close, unanimous again.
20:02I want to thank you all.
20:03Have a great Christmas, a great Hanukkah, and a fantastic year.
20:07But we're going to have a great three years, four years, ten years.
20:10We're going to make it great.
20:11Our country is – our country is going to be strong, safe, rich.
20:16It's going to be great.
20:17We're going to make America great again.
20:18Thank you, everybody.
20:19Thank you very much.
