00:00Hey, I'm Nemo and last year I won Eurovision and with it this trophy.

00:10And even though I'm immensely grateful for the community around this contest

00:16and everything this experience has taught me both as a person and as an artist,

00:21today I no longer feel like this trophy belongs on my shelf.

00:25Eurovision says it stands for unity, for inclusion and dignity for all people.

00:32And these are the values that make this contest so meaningful for me.

00:37But Israel's continued participation during what the UN's Independent International Commission of Inquiry

00:44has concluded to be a genocide shows there's a clear conflict between those ideals

00:49and the decisions the EBU is making.

00:52This is not about individuals or artists.

00:56It's about the fact that the contest was repeatedly used to soften the image of a state accused of severe wrongdoing,

01:04all while the EBU insists that this contest is non-political.

01:09When entire countries withdraw, it should be very clear that something is deeply wrong.

01:15And that's why I decided that I'm sending this trophy back to the EBU headquarters in Geneva with gratitude.

01:27And with a clear message.

01:31Live what you claim.

01:34If the values we celebrate on stage aren't lived off stage, then even the most beautiful songs become meaningless.

01:41I'm waiting for the moment those words and actions align.
