00:01Stories of stolen children illegally sold for adoption.
00:04100,000 mothers who were made to believe their sons and daughters had died
00:08and their bodies were never returned to them.
00:11The documentary Stolen Children by Martyna Wojciechowska and Jovita Baraniecka
00:16tells the story of this inhumane practice.
00:30The directors tell two interconnected stories.
00:54The first is that one of the investigative journalists,
00:57journalist who, after her mother's death, learns she was adopted. She decides to search for her
01:01biological mother, uncovering a criminal operation that has been ongoing since the 1970s. She reveals
01:07that everyone was involved. Nurses, doctors, taxi drivers. I'm happy because of the premiere,
01:12and I'm sure that those mothers will, those children who were sold abroad, will find the way
01:17to contact us, help through this documentary. But also, I of course feel ashamed that those
01:24things were happening in Georgia. The second story is about the twin sisters, who found each other on
01:29social media, even though they previously had no idea they were adopted. Now, like Tamuna, they want to
01:35help people find their biological family. The film premiered at the Watch Dogs Festival in Warsaw and
01:52will be available on HBO Max on the 12th of December.
