Buhe Bariyan is a Punjabi drama film starring Neeru Bajwa along with Rubina Bajwa, Nirmal Rishi and others. The story takes place in a traditional village in Punjab where a group of women, led by the fearless Bhuro, begin to push back against long-standing patriarchal norms and injustices that have dominated their community for generations — challenging issues like male dominance, caste bias, dowry demands and domestic abuse.

When Prem Kaur (played by Neeru Bajwa), a new police officer, arrives in the village, she is initially tasked with overseeing the situation and curbing what the men view as “unlawful” behaviour by the women. As she observes the women’s struggles and listens to Bhuro’s reasons for fighting the system, Prem starts to understand the depth of their suffering and gradually becomes an ally.

The film follows this turning point — from resistance and conflict between the sexes to solidarity and empowerment, showing how these women help each other stand strong against outdated customs and seek justice, while confronting societal resistance and personal tragedies.
