00:00So, we are here with Farah Nabulsi for the movie The Teacher, which has been shown in Torino Film Festival.
00:09And congratulations for the movie, which we really loved.
00:13The Teacher is the title, and it's a story, among the other things, of a teacher.
00:20So, I would like to know which was the teacher in your real life, who you still remember,
00:28and who was really meaningful in your life, and why.
00:34Miss Reed, she was my English literature teacher, actually, growing up in London.
00:40And she had such an impact for me, my love of literature, my love of drama.
00:47She encouraged me in my writing.
00:50So, for me, she's somebody who left a big, big mark, and she believed in me, you know.
00:56She encouraged me, and she believed in me, which was, yeah, meaningful to me.
01:01Which age were you?
01:03Oh, between, I'd say, I had her for about five years, between 12 and, yeah, 12 and 16, let's say, four years.
01:14So, are you based in London?
01:16Yes.
01:16I'm a mother of five children, and you are a director, and you have been a broker of the stock market.
01:25So, you are a really strong woman, I would say.
01:29And where is this strength coming from?
01:31Wow.
01:38I think much of it comes from my upbringing.
01:43I've been very fortunate and privileged enough to have a supportive, loving family.
01:48The education that allows me to do these things, and I guess a drive, a sort of, I don't know, I don't know.
02:04I'd say maybe my belief in myself as well, that it's okay, it's okay to fall on your face, it doesn't matter.
02:18At the end, I've always had a very strong attitude that was like, we're all going to die, really.
02:23And I'd rather live a life that feels like I've, not accomplished, but that I'm, I can pursue things and not feel afraid if it doesn't work out.
02:36That's always been my attitude, to be honest.
02:39And the protagonist of your movie is a man, and there are also other characters, of course, Imogen Poots, also.
02:47She's one from United Nations.
02:50But I would like to know if you have ever thought about putting a woman in your next movie, as strong as this man, and as strong as you are.
03:01It's interesting.
03:02I am writing something right now, which is very focused on a female lead and a mother as well.
03:13So, yes, I'm in the process of that.
03:15And I've also written something that's not Palestine-related, but it is set in the late 1990s in the UK, in the finance world.
03:26It's a crime drama thriller, loosely based on an experience I had when I was an investment banker.
03:32And there is a very strong female lead protagonist in that as well.
03:36So that's very good to shoot it.
03:38Hopefully in the UK, yeah, it's still early days.
03:43I've written it.
03:44Now I need the strong producer.
03:47Good luck.
03:48Thank you.
03:49Thank you very much.
