Councillor John Downes talks about the situation regarding the need for a bus shelter opposite Redlands Surgery in Crediton, video Alan Quick IMG_0243
Transcript
00:00Hello, it's Councillor John Downes here, Mid-Devon and Crediton Town Council, standing in the rain where there should be a bus stop.
00:06As you can see behind me, there is a bus stop and the bus shut was put in when Tesco took on the work to put this road in and the doctors did the surgery.
00:18But no work has been done on this side of the road.
00:20And we're in a dreadful situation at the moment where this road is going to be upgraded next year.
00:25Tesco have got an obligation to upgrade it, but there's nothing in the plans to put a bus shelter here.
00:32So it means that people in Crediton will be coming out of the pharmacy or shopping around here and not have somewhere to shelter in the rain.
00:39And we can't get Devon County to listen to us and we can't get Tesco to listen to us.
00:44Tesco are saying that their plan is to upgrade the road and there's nothing in the plans for a shelter.
00:51And DCC are saying it's too late to put the plans in because they want the work to start next year.
00:56So we're in between a rock and a hard place.
00:59And in the meantime, people are coming out of the surgery, standing in the rain without a shelter, which would be very easy to do.
