00:00In my whole career, this I think is the interview that means the most to me.
00:03You have played the biggest part in my whole childhood, so it means a lot.
00:0830 years of this film, how much has your friendship evolved since you filmed this all those years ago?
00:15I think we loved each other then, and it had to do with the fact that we got together,
00:21we were both very new and raw as far as even our profession was concerned,
00:26and we felt very supportive of each other, and I think that continues till date, and I think...
00:33I think Sharuk has covered my stomach more times than anybody else that I know of.
00:37And she's made me look more times than anybody else.
00:41And we all need that person. We all need that person.
00:44Absolutely, absolutely.
00:46We'll do that.
00:47Is Cheeky Sharuk still... because now I feel like we see cool Sharuk a lot.
00:53But is Cheeky Sharuk in there? Because that's what I saw in all the films growing up.
00:57Even in this film, he's cheeky all the way through.
01:00Oh, he's still cheeky.
01:02Ah, he's still cheeky.
01:03He's just cheeky off camera now.
01:05He's not doing it in front of camera anymore.
01:07On camera, they don't allow me to be too cheeky now.
01:09Did you ever imagine all those years ago, this level of worldwide fame and adoration from people,
01:18like the outpouring of love for you both?
01:21No.
01:21Even from me?
01:22No.
01:23I think Sharuk anticipated it.
01:24No, no, no, no.
01:25Sharuk definitely anticipated it.
01:26Now he's just being modest and all that.
01:29Like, he's just being modest and all.
01:32But I remember Sharuk earlier also.
01:35It's like, I'm Sharuk Khan.
01:37You know, it's that attitude.
01:38Please.
01:39That's what anticipation of this kind of love.
01:41That was anticipation of just being pompous.
01:43That was anticipation of this kind of adoration.
01:47Would be the reward for it.
01:49He didn't expect it to go on for so long though.
01:51Okay, let me put it in context.
01:53I may have imagined a lot of things and I must have thought no end of myself.
01:57But to be a statue with you on Leicester Square, no way in the wildest of the universe.
02:01That would have not happened.
02:02Right.
02:03But I may have even reached the moon in my dreams.
02:05But Leicester Square statue now.
02:07This is wonderful.
02:08Like, seeing the two of you together as well, I think it will mean so much to everyone.
02:13As well as Rani Mukherjee as well.
02:15Like, seeing the three of you for me, like, Kuch Kuch was just one of my favorite films growing up as well.
02:19But could we ever see you two doing another project together?
02:23Yes, inshallah.
02:24I mean, it would be really nice.
02:26We keep thinking about things.
02:28I mean, I always miss her and I'm sure she does.
02:30Likewise.
02:31Likewise.
02:32We think of films when her work is coming out and I want to call her in theater.
02:36It was so sweet to see.
02:37And I think we are a little more, how do you say, when we are biased, we don't even, I think, actually look at each other's work.
02:44We just love each other and we just want to work with each other.
02:47I think we did for whatever reason and I won't get into the craft of it.
02:51But I think the art of us working together helped each other a lot because of the love, comfort, security, happiness, goodness, a lot of things.
02:59I remember during Dilwale, actually.
03:02I remember during Dilwale, it was my first shot in Dilwale.
03:06And I remember I'm standing over there and we're doing this scene and Shah Rukh takes me aside.
03:09He's like, I just want to tell you, you're not supposed to look at me like as though you've known me for the last 20 years.
03:14We are supposed to do this scene like as though we haven't met.
03:17Oh, sorry, I forgot that.
03:20From that to, we were doing an, you know, sometimes you have to have these kind of over-the-top moments in films, especially in songs.
03:28And where we come from, we were not so well honed in the craft of dancing and expressing like that.
03:34But we worked very hard for that.
03:36We are the most hard-working people in that area, especially when we didn't know what we were doing.
03:41And there was a moment when I had to, she had to go like, like ish or hoo or something.
03:47Like that.
03:47And she couldn't do it and I had to, so ta-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na.
03:51And I would actually pinch her so that she got the expression of, and I think it looked not so bad when I see it now.
03:58No, you see it.
03:59It was quite good.
04:00What do your children, like when they watch like this film back, like what do they make of it?
04:04That you've got a whole legacy behind you guys, like what's the next generation thinking to it all?
04:10I think both of my kids have, do they just keep looking at me, she's like, mom, you were so young.
04:15You were just so young.
04:17You haven't changed, casual, you haven't changed.
04:19At all.
04:20What are you talking about?
04:22No, but I think they both look at us, it's like we were, they look at me and they're like, mom, you were so young.
04:29And I think Nissa keeps telling me that, you know, mom, every time I see the movie, I only see myself.
04:35So there are so many expressions on my face, which are the same expressions that are on her face.
04:40You know, so she kind of sees herself in, in me.
04:45Yeah.
04:46Yeah.
04:46And it's like, I should be seeing that in her, but she sees it in me instead.
04:50No, I get that.
04:51I look in the mirror sometimes and I see like my mom and I'm like, yeah, that's normal, I think.
04:55I think Abram sees himself, I think Abram definitely sees himself as mini Shah Rukh Khan.
05:00He's, he's so much like Shah Rukh, can I answer this question for you?
05:04Can I please?
05:04Okay.
05:05Okay, I'm going to answer this question for you because this is just too cute.
05:08I think that, that infallible confidence that we were talking about like that, I'm Shah Rukh Khan,
05:14is there, I'm Abram Khan.
05:16For sure.
05:17No two ways about it.
05:19He's adorable.
05:20I think what is sweet about our kids, which I notice in her children and mine, we've known each other now for,
05:2530 years or more, is that they appreciate what we've done in a strange place, though we are their parents,
05:31but they don't fawn over us.
05:32I think they like and I think they are surprised at the simplicity of us off screen compared to what we have been able to
05:39with God's grace and the audience and what the achievements we have.
05:42Of course, it's shocking that they appreciate that part, I think, a lot.
05:47I see that in both of them.
05:48Thank you so much.
05:49Such an honor to meet you both.
