00:00white cloud where we attempt to take a giant unicorn down a treacherous New
00:05Zealand River with some absolutely crazy results. We take a spectacular chopper
00:11ride to Miguel's Glacier kitchen before things get totally out of control but
00:17I'm invited to take the boost offshore powerboat for a spin. All this and so
00:22much more here on Top Knotts.
00:30We are here at the beautiful Little Harbour Yacht Club. How are y'all doing?
00:37Our first story we go to Queenstown, New Zealand where these idiots surprise me with a giant
00:45unicorn ride. Now I know we do some stupid stuff on this show but this, this was ridiculous.
00:54While in Queenstown someone came up with the crazy idea of taking a unicorn down the notorious
00:59Kawaru River and we forgot to tell Felicity who was caught totally by surprise.
01:06I thought we were going river boarding. What is this?
01:09Why would you want to go river boarding when you can have state of the art?
01:13What is this? This is the next level. We're nearly there. We're going down that in this.
01:2110 points for creativity. Yeah! Hello!
01:28It's a little beauty. Keep going! I'm exhausted!
01:34Oh, how easy is this?
01:36Oh, yeah. Yeah, I wouldn't do that!
01:39We've had some pretty worse ideas up still now, but I really think this one's going to work.
01:47Are you with me? Are you with me?
01:49Definitely not.
01:51This is going to pop on the first boulder we win!
01:55I want to take you guys to blow this thing up.
01:59Well, I think most of the water, six hours blowing. That's the biggest blow.
02:03We do a lot of river boarding around here.
02:05Never seen anything this crazy go down the river.
02:07Yeah, it's time for everything, guys!
02:09Another world record!
02:10Yes!
02:11Any tips?
02:12If it dashes up against the rock, climb up to the high side of the raft so it doesn't fully flip over.
02:17One side is going to be way up in the air.
02:19Just work your way on that high side just to balance the raft out enough.
02:22Hopefully she spins off the rock.
02:24Yeah, okay.
02:25Otherwise, guys, we might get tipped sideways, pushed up against the rock and pin there.
02:3150-50 chance, we stay in. 50-50 chance, we swim.
02:35I like those odds.
02:36Oh, I like those odds!
02:37How stable does this feel right now?
02:39Yeah, we're on flat ground, Rob.
02:43I mean, I heard you top outs guys were a bit crazy, but this is just beyond.
02:47Logistically, getting it to the water.
02:50Has anybody got any ideas yet?
02:52Got any ideas yet?
02:53Got any ideas yet?
02:59We were so focused on blowing up the unicorn.
03:00No one had given any thought.
03:01We were so focused on blowing up the unicorn.
03:14No one had given any thought to how we were going to get the large inflatable down the cliff
03:32and into the water.
03:33I don't think we walk this down the rocks.
03:36That's dangerous.
03:37Yeah.
03:38It's way too dangerous going down that way.
03:39I agree.
03:40So what have you guys got in mind?
03:41What's the plan, man?
03:42I think we should lower it off the edge with a rope.
03:45Brilliant.
03:46Just bring it down gently.
03:47Yep.
03:48Tom, get down there underneath it.
03:50We'll lower it down to you.
03:51Miguel, help him out.
03:52Yeah, got the rope.
03:53Might just lower it down off the top edge.
03:55What do you reckon?
03:56How long is the pace of rope?
03:59This is not long enough to get it to the bottom.
04:02Anyway, let's go and have a crack.
04:03Kate, let's go and have a crack.
04:04Let's get over.
04:05Take the dino with.
04:06Let's go, guys.
04:07Let's go.
04:08I want to get in the water.
04:09One, three, one, ten, three.
04:10One, two.
04:11One, two.
04:24Let's go.
04:25Put it on this bed.
04:26Bring the bob around.
04:27Put it on the bed.
04:29Oh, my God.
04:30Wow.
04:31We're going.
04:32Wait, wait, wait.
04:33Wait, wait, wait.
04:34Sobly.
04:35Wait, wait, wait, wait.
04:36I can't.
04:37It's going.
04:38Sobly.
04:39Wait, wait.
04:40We can take the dinosaur out.
04:41I got it.
04:42It's going.
04:43Sobly.
04:49Okay, slowly.
04:50Yeah, we need some.
04:51There she goes.
04:52If that one gets any birds.
04:55Let her out.
04:56Let her out.
04:57A little bit.
04:58Just a little bit.
04:59Just a little bit.
05:00Just a little bit.
05:01Just a little bit.
05:02With the river guides now in hiding, I was laughing so much.
05:06I was no help to anyone.
05:07It's a sharp bit.
05:08It's a sharp bit.
05:09No, no.
05:10I'm going to the cliff.
05:11Good guy.
05:12Hold on.
05:13Hold on.
05:14Good guy.
05:15Hold on.
05:16Hold on.
05:17Good guy.
05:18He's got to get down the bottom.
05:19I'm going.
05:20More rope.
05:21More rope in there.
05:22More rope.
05:23Somehow, we managed to stumble our way down the cliff.
05:27Without popping the unicorn.
05:28Hold on.
05:29I'm going.
05:30More rope.
05:31More rope in there.
05:32More rope.
05:33Somehow, we managed to stumble our way down the cliff without popping the unicorn.
05:40Oh my God.
05:41Oh my God.
05:42Oh my God.
05:43Oh my God.
05:44Oh my God.
05:45Oh my God.
05:46Oh my God.
05:47Oh my God.
05:48Oh my God.
05:49Oh my God.
05:50Yes.
05:51Don't forget the safety device.
05:53Jump him in.
05:54No.
05:55Jump him in.
05:56Okay.
05:57So I'm in.
05:58Go on.
05:59Go on.
06:00Oblivious to the dangers ahead, we blindly jumped on board, hoping for the best.
06:05Hang on.
06:06Hang on.
06:07Hang on.
06:08Who's going to be the skipper?
06:09Skipper.
06:10Skipper.
06:11Skipper.
06:12Skipper.
06:13Okay.
06:14I can drive boats.
06:15I can drive boats.
06:16Whatever side goes ends up going into the wall.
06:19We need to wait that side.
06:20We have to lean to that side to bring it down.
06:22If it starts to go right, we've got to flatten it out.
06:31So we set off in the hope of becoming the first unicorn to tame the Kawaru River.
06:37In the history of grain exploration, we figured this was right up there with the very best.
06:44No one had any idea, not even the experts, how the unicorn would handle the grey four rabbits.
06:45I can't.
06:46I can't.
06:47I can't.
06:48I can't.
06:49I can't.
06:50I can't.
06:51I can't.
06:52I can't.
06:53I can't.
06:54I can't.
06:55I can't.
06:56I can't.
06:57I can't.
06:58I can't.
06:59I can't.
07:00I can't.
07:01I can't.
07:02I can't.
07:03Oh my God.
07:04I can't.
07:05Oh my God.
07:06We're going backwards.
07:07No one had any idea.
07:08Not even the experts, how the unicorn would handle the grey four rabbits.
07:12I can't.
07:13I can't.
07:14I can't.
07:15the craft, we're at the complete mercy of the river.
07:45Come on!
07:46Come on!
07:55Come on!
07:56You're the only one!
07:58Lick!
08:00Hey!
08:01Oh my God!
08:04Oh my God!
08:07Oh my God!
08:09Come on!
08:11Come on!
08:13Roger!
08:15Oh, I'm in!
08:19Come on, guys! We've got these!
08:21We've got these!
08:23Put your foot on the head!
08:29All right, everyone!
08:31Watch this!
08:33Everyone's shouting!
08:41We made it! Yes!
08:43We made it!
08:45We made it! Yes!
08:47Having survived the first set of rapids,
08:49we began to celebrate
08:51without realising that things
08:53were about to go from
08:55bad to worse.
09:03Oh! Hear that?
09:05Suddenly, the sound of crashing water
09:07just ahead sends us all into a panic.
09:09Oh! F***!
09:11I'm with you!
09:13The next rapid was called
09:15the Maneater, which needed
09:17no introduction, and things were
09:19quickly spiralling out of control.
09:21Guys, we're getting a bit of speed up.
09:23This is the one they call
09:25the Maneater.
09:27the Maneater.
09:29Watch out for the rock!
09:31Watch out!
09:33Watch out for the rock!
09:35Watch out for the rock!
09:37Watch out for the rock!
09:39Watch out for the rock!
09:41With the rapids now in full view,
09:43roll!
09:45All right, all right, let's get back
09:47to a fire.
09:49All right!
09:52As you see the
09:53conditions in the river.
09:55Abandon ship!
09:57We are going with the ships!
09:58You are going with the ships
10:03Going with the ships!
10:05Diamond ship!
10:06Go!
10:07Subscribe!
10:09Let's go, boys! Let's go!
10:11Let's go!
10:39Let's go!
11:09Let's go!
11:36Despite looking a little worse for wear,
11:38somehow our unicorn survived the battering
11:41and lived to tell another tale.
11:43In hindsight, departing the unicorn
11:46was probably the only smart decision we made all day.
11:52Despite being told not to get back in,
11:55well, we just couldn't help ourselves.
11:58The next rapid was called Hell's Gate.
12:06It wasn't long before we all began to regret the decision.
12:21Oh, my God!
12:23Oh, my God!
12:25Oh, my God!
12:27Oh, my God!
12:32Oh, my God!
12:34Oh, my God!
12:39Oh, my God!
13:41We made it, guys.
13:55We made it.
13:56Wow, I've actually got a bonnet.
14:04What are we going?
14:06Guys, that was close.
14:07I mean, we've done some silly stuff in our day, but...
14:10No, that was...
14:11That was the best.
14:12That was the best one.
14:13As soon as I saw it getting lowered down, I just couldn't stop laughing.
14:18Like, for me, I was like, oh, this is going to be amazing.
14:21The vision of this unicorn being lowered over water.
14:25Was it beautiful and terrifying at the same time?
14:29It was just absolutely majestic.
14:31Those rapids were serious, though.
14:33They were real serious.
14:34Yeah.
14:35Especially when she lost a bit of air.
14:37I love when we all went into this sandwich.
14:39Oh, it's closed up.
14:41It ate us.
14:41She was eating us alive.
14:42Yeah.
14:43I got a bit scared there for a while because I said, if we all go under, underneath this
14:46thing, we're screwed.
14:48Yeah.
14:48How are we getting up?
14:49We were so tangled on top of each other.
14:51I went to stage, all the guys were saying, stop, get down, get down, get down to the chopper.
14:58The Maneater is named the Maneater for a reason.
15:01I could choose people up.
15:02Yeah.
15:03And...
15:04Not today.
15:05Not us.
15:06You're looking one way.
15:07I'm looking at you one way.
15:08Then, Tom, I turn around and there's a rock wall a metre from my face.
15:12Yeah.
15:12And we're going towards it at great speed.
15:14That was what was concerning.
15:16And then you turn and go, oh, and everyone would dive to one side because we were told to
15:21get on the high side of the rug.
15:22I've never been more twisted and tangled in my life with you three.
15:27I was just...
15:28It was all...
15:29Oh, no, we can't use that.
15:34What I think we really need to concentrate on next time we do this stuff is just get a
15:40bit more serious about it.
15:41Screaming, the shouting, the chaos.
15:44And the bushing people.
15:44We've got to just...
15:46Bring it down.
15:47It's hard when you think this could be your last scream.
15:50Right, everyone was freaking out, which made me freak out, which made everybody else freak
15:55out.
15:56I think next time there's a few lessons learned in this, right?
16:00Don't go in unicorns.
16:02I'll be those.
16:04Lesson number one.
16:05You guys did great.
16:06I thought, what are you guys thinking?
16:08This is never going to work.
16:09You're going to burst unicorn.
16:11This is all going to go wrong.
16:13But you guys had a vision and it worked.
16:15You guys did it.
16:16Yeah.
16:16Come on.
16:17That, for me, was the most fun, the most silly stuff that I have ever done.
16:30I laughed the whole way down that river.
16:33There were flippers in your face.
16:36People coming over the top of you.
16:38We didn't know what was up and what was down.
16:41But it was seriously the most fun I've ever had.
16:46And I did not stop laughing the entire time.
16:51I lost my voice.
16:52Oh, how much I laughed.
16:53It was like being scared and laughing at the same time.
16:56It was like all the feelings at the same time.
16:59And you know what?
17:00When I get that feeling, it was so good.
17:05Come to New Zealand.
17:06I mean, you can do stuff like this.
17:08Honestly, I can't still wipe the smile off my face.
17:10It was super serious.
17:11I think all of us were just like, weren't expecting how crazy these rapids were going to be.
17:15We're like, yeah, guys, we know what we're doing.
17:17Let us go.
17:18We'll be fine.
17:19We'll be fine.
17:20You know, next thing we know, we're all in this unicorn together.
17:23One team, one dream.
17:24Going down these rapids.
17:26You know, the one rule, keep your feet up so you don't hit all these rocks.
17:30Feet were down.
17:32Just hitting all these rocks on the way down.
17:34There was screaming, there was yelling, there was shouting.
17:36For me right now, I'm like, this is why I signed up for this show.
17:40I love silly stuff like that.
17:41It's so crazy and so outlandish.
17:44And it worked.
17:45From the second we just blew that thing up and you think, wow, it's massive.
17:51And you get a group of four into it, lower it down the rocks, put it in the water.
17:57I was a bit worried, actually.
17:58The first corner, I thought this is, you know, we could be in trouble here.
18:01We had some warnings from the professionals, ignored them.
18:05Like, we just went for the wall and I thought, like, you know, there were tips, you know.
18:10If it goes up that side, then push on that side.
18:12And we were all really enthusiastic to start with.
18:14And then we realised that it actually was going down the river okay.
18:17And we thought, we're going to ride this thing.
18:20Then there was the big rapids.
18:23They really didn't want us in the unicorn for the big rapids.
18:26And we thought, we're staying.
18:28And it just went over and it had punctured off the rocks.
18:31It had a couple of ruptures.
18:33Then it wrapped us up like a ball.
18:35We were like plasticine people inside a blow-up unicorn for about 20 seconds.
18:40It was amazing.
18:41And then all of a sudden, the river went calm and we drift into paradise, which is where we are now.
18:48And the poor unicorn hasn't survived, bless its little soul, but we have lived to fight another day.
18:56Come on!
19:03Only in New Zealand.
19:05Craziest thing I've ever done.
19:07I'm still smiling.
19:08Wow.
19:09That was pretty stupid, though.
19:11It was pretty fun.
19:12I haven't done enough so much in 45 years.
19:16So, that was crazy.
19:18You know, I'm kind of glad I missed that one.
19:20I think I dodged a bullet.
19:21You guys are crazy.
19:22That was nuts.
19:23It was the craziest thing we've ever done.
19:24And I think after doing such an amazing activity, we went to the Queenstown Primary School to get a real taste on New Zealand with the most beautiful welcome ever.
19:34Check this out.
19:34Very good.
19:55Very good!
20:00He's awesome.
20:01He's the fifth girl.
20:02I'd like to learn a hockey now.
20:04Yes, I know.
20:05I thought you'd learn us.
20:06Can you lead us?
20:25Go take those two parts.
20:27Go take them home.
20:28Go take them home.
20:29Go take them home.
20:30Go take them home.
20:31Go take them home.
20:40Go take them home.
20:41Go take them home.
20:43Go take them home.
20:48Congratulations.
20:49You're welcome.
20:51Join the Chips and the Holy Club.
20:52That's good.
20:53How are you feeling?
20:54There is something very special, almost spiritual, about the Maori culture.
21:08And we were all touched by the performance of the kids and their warm welcome.
21:24When it comes to water safety, this little baby is an absolute game changer.
21:47You should never go offshore without one.
21:49It's called an EPIRB, Electronic Positioning Indicating Radio Beacon.
21:53And it is compulsory for any boating offshore.
21:57This little guy can be manually activated or transmit a GPS signal so that your exact position can be located anywhere in the world.
22:05But Tom, whatever you do, unless it's an absolute emergency, you never press that button.
22:12Oh, my bad.
22:13You didn't press it, did you?
22:15This is Mellon Rescue or Units or Units.
22:18We have an urgent distress signal or Units.
22:20Please make haste to the following GPS location.
22:23And after all the activity, I mean, the team is hungry.
22:31So I decided to take us all to an amazing chopper ride to the Clark Glacier.
22:37And we went there to cook a real New Zealand treat, the New Zealand mussels.
22:41And I reckon just getting there was half of the fun.
22:44And we are in Hawaii.
23:08Oh, my God.
23:09Ollie, you are kidding.
23:10Oh, ay, ay, ay, ay, ay.
23:12Here he goes.
23:16Are you kidding me?
23:19George, no way.
23:24Oh, my.
23:28Okay, then. Send it.
23:41Amazing.
23:43Look how hot it is.
23:45Oh, we are going straight to head in, guys.
23:50Yee-haw!
23:51Holy s***!
23:54Are you kidding me?
23:58He's filming us filming with an iPhone.
24:01What is he filming?
24:03I don't know.
24:04He's filming us filming with an iPhone.
24:08Wow. Amazing.
24:10Wow.
24:13Look at that for a chunk of ice.
24:15Come on.
24:16Oh, no way.
24:18That's incredible.
24:21Look at the colour of it.
24:23Yeah, remarkable isn't it, man?
24:25I love those boys.
24:27Oh, James. Great job, mate.
24:29Oh, look at those crevasses.
24:36I love flying choppers.
24:38Ha ha!
24:40Oh, yeah, coming in for landing.
24:43Something.
24:52Rockstar Carpo.
24:53Yeah.
24:54Wow.
24:55Well done, mate.
24:56Well done, mate.
24:57Really, really love that.
25:11Top notes lovers.
25:12Here we are in the closest you're going to get to heaven for a kitchen.
25:16The Clark Glacier.
25:174,500 feet above the ground.
25:20We're cooking one of the most amazing, quintessential ingredients from the land of New Zealand.
25:26The green leaf mussel.
25:27And for that, I need the best sous chefs in the world.
25:30Peeps!
25:31Alright.
25:32Alright.
25:33Okay.
25:34Cooking mussels is one of the most amazing things.
25:36Because mussel is like trapping inside a mussel.
25:39It's actually trapping inside a little bit of the ocean.
25:42So it's the real flavour of the ocean.
25:44Well, yeah.
25:45Inside is still alive.
25:46And inside you got this amazing sea water.
25:49So when we steam them and they're slightly open, we're going to discover one of the most amazing.
25:54No, no.
25:55Hold it.
25:56Hold it.
25:57Hold it.
25:58Hold it.
25:59Hold it.
26:00One of the most amazing flavours in the world.
26:01Now, I want you to do the beard, the mussels.
26:02So you're going to hold that.
26:03Pull.
26:04You see the beard.
26:05No more beard.
26:06Start the beard in the mussels, please.
26:08Yeah.
26:09I'll show you again.
26:10Some mussels got more beard than others.
26:12So you hold two fingers.
26:13And you're the beard, the mussel.
26:15Okay.
26:16I've really butchered this one.
26:17Now, ladies and gentlemen.
26:18I can't do that.
26:19The thing is, we're going to achieve flavours like citrus, spice, white wine and cream.
26:23White wine and cream.
26:24Because we want a solution.
26:25We want a sauce that is going to emulsify with the water inside.
26:29So we want big flavours.
26:30So what I'm going to get you to do.
26:32Tommy boy.
26:33That's orange.
26:34A little bit better than that.
26:35We got some butter.
26:36Okay.
26:37And we're going to get some zest.
26:39When you do the zest in a citrus, you only want to get the zest.
26:44So it's the yellow part.
26:45So just the skin.
26:46Yeah.
26:47You don't want to take the pith.
26:48Because the pith is .
26:49What?
26:50Don't take it.
26:51You like taking the pith.
26:52So now, I've been keeping a lot of heat in here.
26:55Because we're going to build a lot of heat in the wok.
26:58So what we're going to do now.
27:00Everybody's going to have a job.
27:01The wine?
27:02Rob, you the wine.
27:03I mean.
27:04I'm already day beating.
27:05I'm the only one day beating the mussels.
27:08Please.
27:09Okay.
27:10You'll do the lemons.
27:12Okay.
27:13We're going to as well maybe use some of the spring onions.
27:15Whoa.
27:16Wait, wait, wait.
27:17No, no, no.
27:18Not yet.
27:19So when you steam mussels, it's all about speed and just accuracy.
27:23You have to go boom, boom, boom.
27:25So you contain all the heat.
27:27So what we're going to do.
27:28The butter.
27:29Butter first.
27:30Oh, it's hot.
27:31Okay, ready?
27:32Ready?
27:33Yep.
27:34Butter.
27:35Go.
27:36Wait, wait, wait.
27:37Let it melt, let it melt.
27:38Mussels.
27:39Okay.
27:40Orange juice.
27:41Lemon juice.
27:42Chili.
27:43No, no, wait, wait.
27:44Everybody wait for the turn.
27:45Put more mussels in there.
27:46I'm trying.
27:47So the chili, we're going to keep the seeds.
27:48Here we go.
27:49Because we want nice and spicy.
27:51Okay, mussels in there.
27:52We got some chives.
27:54The same family as the garlic.
27:55Wine.
27:56A little bit of wine.
27:57Wine.
27:58Chef.
27:59Wine, wine.
28:00Imagine working for you.
28:01Salt and pepper.
28:02Pepper.
28:03Stop.
28:04Lemon.
28:05Squeeze it.
28:06Squeeze it really hard.
28:07Squeeze it like you stole it.
28:08More mussels.
28:09Throw it in.
28:10More mussels.
28:11Throw it in.
28:12Okay.
28:13Throw it in.
28:14And this is what you want.
28:15You want that sauce to have all that amazing flavors.
28:17We got chili.
28:18We got the butter for that thickness.
28:20We got salt and pepper.
28:21We got that amazing citrus.
28:23And all that is going to turn this into a masterpiece.
28:26What we need to do now.
28:27More?
28:28Please.
28:29Is he doing anything?
28:30I haven't done a beat in my mouth.
28:31None of the cream is out there.
28:32All right.
28:33What we're going to do now is trying to create a little bit of a...
28:35Cabby house.
28:36Cabby house.
28:37Yes.
28:38Cabby house to cook the ultimate, most famous dish in New Zealand.
28:42There is the green shell mussels.
28:44I think, as experienced, as a seafood chef, one of the most precious pieces of seafood in the world.
28:51Yes.
28:52I think when we're in Australia, it gets frozen and we don't appreciate it.
28:55When it's fresh, look at the size of that.
28:57Yeah, wow.
28:58Clumpy.
28:59Look at the beautiful color.
29:00Chop that.
29:01Somewhere else in the world, you'll have an amazing kitchen like this.
29:03Come on, have a look at this.
29:04Okay, so to finish, Grant, you're going to pick some, just the leaves of the parsley.
29:07Yep.
29:08I want you to give the last to finish the sauce.
29:09You see how the mussels are all open?
29:11Yep.
29:12I want you to give it a good dash of cream.
29:13Okay, you tell me when.
29:14Okay.
29:15It's drizzling light, Grant.
29:16Oh, it's real good.
29:17Smells good.
29:18Very good.
29:19And now we're going to finish with a little bit of a spring on it.
29:21The whole thing, Miguel?
29:22No, yes, that's enough.
29:23That's beautiful.
29:24And give it a stir, please.
29:25Again.
29:26Stir everything together and you can see how that beautiful mussels, they all open.
29:30The sauce, look at the sauce.
29:32I mean, the wine sauce.
29:33It's smelling very good.
29:34This is the magic of mussels.
29:36I mean, I remember growing up in Spain.
29:38My mom used to go with mussels in the beach and you eat it without any calories.
29:43So you use the spoon.
29:45The mussels is the spoon.
29:47So you get the sauce here.
29:50And what do you do?
29:51You use that as a device.
29:53So it's a perfect communal meal.
29:55You don't have to wash up.
29:57You don't have to do anything.
29:58All you do is please enjoy.
29:59Oh, Miguel.
30:00It's so good.
30:01Wow.
30:02That's how delicious it tastes like.
30:05What's the sauce of yours?
30:06Holy.
30:07That's a big one.
30:08Don't worry, boys.
30:09It's a big one.
30:10Here.
30:11Here.
30:12Run.
30:13That is gorgeous.
30:14My dear.
30:15That's beautiful.
30:16Look at the size of the mussels.
30:17Oh my god, it's really hot.
30:18You have to do the whole thing.
30:19It's really good though.
30:20Tom, here.
30:21I'm going to get in there.
30:22It doesn't get better than this.
30:23Wow, this is amazing, Miguel.
30:24You have outdone yourself.
30:25James, what about our pilot?
30:27James, please.
30:28James, come on in.
30:29We need some real locals to try and say this is a real deal.
30:33Oh, mate.
30:34It's amazing.
30:35It's got a little bit of cream, white wine, local wine, local citrus.
30:40All the herbs are local.
30:41Beautiful.
30:42And this is the closest to heaven.
30:43We will be in the kitchen.
30:44Thank you for bringing us here.
30:45No problem.
30:46Yeah, thank you, James.
30:47Thanks so much.
30:48See you soon.
30:58No matter what time of the day that you go out boating,
31:00it's still so important to have a torch on board,
31:03in good working order.
31:13Rob, please my help.
31:14And the batteries are just as important as the torch.
31:19All right, so this next one put the absolute fear of God into me.
31:26Yeah.
31:27Right?
31:28Like, so I got invited to go and drive an offshore racing power boat.
31:32These things are nuts.
31:33Like, it does 260 kilometres an hour.
31:35Fast.
31:36Did you hear me?
31:37260 kilometres an hour.
31:39Now, you guys know I race cars, right?
31:41So I like speed.
31:42Speed's my thing, okay?
31:43But this was completely ridiculous.
31:47And completely out of my league.
31:51I've got to be honest, this is so much better than I thought it was going to be.
31:53I know.
31:54Once you come around this corner.
31:55Over here.
31:56Back over there.
31:57Oh, the shaft turns!
32:00I know, I know.
32:01How are the little toy boats going, guys?
32:03Where'd you go?
32:04Get around the seagull.
32:05Right, right, right, right, right.
32:10What if I said I had something a little bit bigger?
32:12What do you mean?
32:13What do you mean?
32:14Right there.
32:15How long has that been there?
32:17Don't worry about how long it's been there.
32:19We're going on it.
32:21Yes!
32:22Darren, Grant, how are you?
32:25Grant, how are you?
32:26How are you boys?
32:27Rob?
32:28Rob, Tom.
32:29Tom, how are we?
32:30I've watched these for a long time on television and have been in absolute awe,
32:33because it's kind of, it's Formula One on water.
32:36Yeah.
32:37It's nuts.
32:38Explain to us what we're looking at here.
32:40What is it exactly?
32:41It's twin engine.
32:42They're 1075, it's only 1100 horsepower a side.
32:46It's a catamaran, so the air goes down the tunnel and it rides up on a cushion.
32:52If it had wings, would it fly?
32:55Yeah.
32:56Yeah.
32:57That's why you called the pilot, right?
32:59I think so, but the idea is not to fly.
33:01Hey Darren, are we able to have a closer look up top on the deck?
33:05Stairway to heaven.
33:06Or hell, take your pick.
33:08Oh, look at these ponies!
33:11So normally they're a set that's just dirty from the trip down.
33:15Normally they'd be immaculately clean.
33:18So that's what?
33:191100 horsepower?
33:201075.
33:211075.
33:22There's just twin supercharged up top, so there's plenty there.
33:24Wow.
33:25When you hear them start up, they are noisy.
33:27Wow.
33:28That's a lot of horsepower.
33:30It's a bit different to a race car, isn't it, mate?
33:32Well, there's two of them for starters.
33:37Each side has a hatch.
33:39Oh!
33:40Man, I'm busing to get in and have a look.
33:42I mean, you know, you know cockpits.
33:44Mate, I've admired these things for so long.
33:48Oh!
33:49Yes!
33:51Do we need to push this?
33:52Yes!
33:53I want to need two.
33:55No!
33:58No!
34:01Mate.
34:02I just, I...
34:04It staggers me that you can do the speeds
34:07and be tossed around by whatever the ocean's whim is,
34:11and you can do it competitively.
34:13Unbelievable.
34:14What chance does an outsider have
34:16of operating one of these for the first time?
34:18If you want to go for a run,
34:20you're more than welcome to put muddy on the throttle,
34:22so you've just got to hang on to the wheel,
34:24look forward and smile.
34:26Yes!
34:27Are you serious?
34:28Yep, you can do that.
34:29Easy.
34:30Piece of cake.
34:31You can do that.
34:32Easy.
34:33Oh!
34:34Did ya!
34:35It's on boys!
34:36Go!
34:37Go!
34:38Go!
34:39Yes!
34:40I'll definitely need to see over the steering wheel though
34:41to operate this thing safely.
34:43Anyone got a phone book or two?
34:45When I asked the question,
34:46could anyone operate this thing,
34:47I didn't think it was going to chuck me the keys.
34:50I wasn't prepared for this.
34:52I don't know if it's the 2,000 horsepower
34:54or the fact that he said that when you turn too sharp
34:56it just flips over in the water like that.
34:58I don't know if I want to do it.
35:01This is a lot of machine worth a lot of money
35:03and big and bad things can happen when you get it wrong.
35:06What's worst case scenario in one of these?
35:09If there was a collision,
35:10the hole gets breached
35:12and if you're upside down there's a lot of water coming in
35:14so eye goggles on
35:16so I can feel my way out of the boat.
35:18Yeah!
35:19You ever get scared?
35:20Yeah.
35:21I reckon you would.
35:22Yeah, I think if you don't get scared
35:25you should give it away.
35:52Oh my god!
35:56Oh my god!
35:58I don't want to do this!
36:01What did you say?
36:03It sounds good!
36:05That's just one.
36:07Oh!
36:11What the hell!
36:22Oh, here we go!
36:23Listen to that!
36:24The noise is bouncing off all the buildings!
36:29Look at the water coming off the back!
36:35Yes!
36:36Yes!
36:37Yes!
36:38Yes!
36:39Yes!
36:40Woohoo!
36:41Now despite coming from a motor racing background,
36:55I'd never driven a boat with this much power
36:58and I was starting to have second thoughts.
37:01They spent half an hour telling me what to do to save my own life
37:05but they didn't once spend a single second on telling me how to drive the thing.
37:08Yeah, I did notice that.
37:09You know what I mean?
37:10How have they let you drive this thing after 10 minutes of instruction?
37:14I haven't seen whether I can reach the steering wheel yet.
37:17Like this is on them, not me.
37:19Like if this goes wrong, I'm not buying it.
37:22Well you sort of, you got it.
37:24That's like the rule.
37:25Alright guys, wish me luck.
37:26Go guys!
37:27Go guys!
37:32Yeah, this has been a long time making for me.
37:35As a little boy I watched these things in absolute awe
37:37are now getting to sit behind the steering wheel myself.
37:40Alright Chris, Chris, do we go out?
37:42Come back here.
37:47Alrighty boys.
37:48I think we're good to go.
37:50Oh my god!
37:51I've strapped myself to a rocket and I don't know if I'm coming back.
38:04What the hell?
38:05Grant, this is Tom and Rob.
38:07Just around the mate.
38:08I kept her nice and straight.
38:10Nice and straight.
38:11Nice and straight.
38:12Got you.
38:13Good.
38:14That was good.
38:15Nice and straight.
38:24Here he goes.
38:25Here he goes.
38:26Daniel loading up.
38:27Daniel on the wheel.
38:29The gas is down.
38:30Daniel loading up.
38:31Give it some.
38:32Here he goes.
38:33Here we go.
38:34Here we go.
38:35Oh my god.
38:36Woo!
38:37Woo!
38:38Woo!
38:39Woo!
38:40Woo!
38:41Woo!
38:42I've 30 miles.
38:43You really feel the air got underneath it, don't you?
38:45Yeah, righto.
38:46Grand, nice.
38:47Warm up now.
38:48Would you please crank it up?
38:50Yeah, righto.
38:51Grand, nice.
38:52Warm up now.
38:53Would you please crank it up?
38:55I should have never have listened to one of my videos.
38:56I should have never listened to one of my videos.
38:58There we go.
38:59Yeah, I'm so sorry.
39:00I'm so sorry.
39:01I'm so sorry.
39:02You really feel the air got underneath it, don't you?
39:03Yeah, righto.
39:04Grand, nice.
39:05Warm up now.
39:06Would you please crank it up?
39:07I should never have listened to Rob.
39:26Just as I was getting confident, I hit some chop,
39:29and in a frightening moment, I started losing control.
39:33He's out of the water.
39:35Look at him go.
39:37Look at this, he's into smooth water now going,
39:57thank God for that.
39:58Woo!
40:00Woo!
40:01Woo!
40:02Woo!
40:07Woo!
40:08Oh, my God!
40:10Oh, my God!
40:11Jesus!
40:12Jesus!
40:14That's next level, f**k!
40:17Just when I thought that I had everything under control,
40:19I cut a corner too fine
40:21and then it sent the boat into a dangerous tailspin.
40:36Grant, that was pathetic.
40:38Would you please stop driving like a grandmother?
40:40I thought you were a race car driver.
40:42I can't believe he's actually listening to you.
40:48I swear, he's now going faster.
41:05Look out, here he comes!
41:07Wow, look at him go!
41:08On my way back, I thought I'd buzz the tower, Top Gun style.
41:21I can't believe how that feels.
41:35That's like nothing on Earth.
41:37This is a plane, this is not a boat.
41:39I don't think I blinked for about eight minutes.
41:43Get my mouth so dry.
41:45I think I've f**ked myself.
41:48Oh, mate, you were an absolute legend.
41:50That was a little boy's wildest dream.
41:52Thank you so much.
41:53Thank you, mate.
41:55Thank you, Lee.
41:56Bye.
41:58Woo-hoo!
42:00Yeah!
42:03Woo-hoo!
42:04Oh, was it?
42:06I didn't blink for about five minutes.
42:09Really?
42:09My mouth's all dry.
42:10You were dancing out there.
42:14It's so dancey that when he gets air underneath it,
42:17if you think you're going to put one more millimeter of steering on,
42:20it's going to be too much and it's going to turn hard left and just roll.
42:23It was terrifying.
42:24Really?
42:25Proper terrifying.
42:26Really?
42:26Yeah, it was scary.
42:27But you're all in one piece, then.
42:28Yeah!
42:29You're all in one piece.
42:30It was so good!
42:31That was more than my sensors can handle.
42:35I'm used to speed, but my internal gyro is used to flat surfaces.
42:40The fact that this is going up and walking on its bum
42:42and then the horizon's doing this,
42:44your internal gyro is like,
42:45what is happening here?
42:47Just everything's wonky, blurry, deafening,
42:50and absolutely amazing.
42:53I can't believe they let us drive it.
42:56I can't believe I was allowed to drive it.
42:58I have no reason being in there,
43:00no qualifications, no experience,
43:02and that thing was flat knacker.
43:03Topknotts is such an amazing show
