00:01Wearing the same attire and standing in the same place,
00:05President Ahmed al-Sharah returned to the Umayyad mosque
00:09just as he had entered it for the first time on the day Syria was liberated from the al-Assad regime.
00:15Al-Sharah performed the dawn prayer surrounded by a large number of worshippers
00:20in a scene that brought Syrians back to the very first moment after liberation.
00:25After much anticipation, following the spread of images of a box
00:32bearing the logos of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Syria inside the mosque,
00:37the Syrian president revealed the gift presented by Saudi Arabia
00:41on the occasion of the anniversary of liberation,
00:44which was a piece of the Qiswa of the Kaaba.
00:55The Kaaba's Qiswa, or cover, is considered one of the most sacred Islamic symbols.
01:12It is made in Mecca from black silk embroidered with gold threads,
01:16and no part of it is given except on rare occasions of great symbolic significance.
