00:01Well, fans, last night at Ring of Honor's final battle,
00:03empires are built to last.
00:06Some are built to fall.
00:07It was the first empires last night,
00:09as Red Velvet defeated Mercedes Monáe
00:11after a hard-fought battle,
00:13fighting at full strength in the rematch
00:15for the Ring of Honor Women's World Television title.
00:17Took Monáe straight out your mama's kitchen,
00:21winning with a variety of high-flying moves,
00:24maybe capitalizing on the hubris of the woman who reminded us
00:27that she is the number one-rated athlete at the PWR 500, Tony.
00:31And there you see the face.
00:33That was very much like the face
00:37that we saw in that interview with Lexi Nair.
00:40And now Layla Gray's got her shot to become a TBS champ.
00:42And the challenger, accompanied by Christopher Jett,
00:46from New York City, Layla Gray!
00:51But on the flip side of Monáe's recent struggles,
00:55Layla Gray has been lighting it up on Ring of Honor last Tuesday,
00:59taking on STP's Trisha Dora.
01:01A hard-fought battle saw Layla Gray emerge victorious
01:05on Final Battle Eve,
01:06with a variety of suplexes and strikes.
01:09Then last night at Final Battle,
01:10real deal Zeta Steele in her debut.
01:13Layla Gray picking up the victory with the Angels' Wings.
01:15A new finishing move.
01:16Kristen, could that be the move that leads Layla Gray
01:20to the TBS Championship, Nigel?
01:22With Monáe and Gray, opposite results last night.
01:27One might make an argument.
01:28This is the perfect time for Gray to challenge Monáe
01:32for the TBS child.
01:35Ultimo Monáe, 12 belts now.
01:38He's up to 13.
01:39Here we go, though.
01:41And this is what we see.
01:43A champion is defined not often by her victories,
01:47but as much by her losses.
01:50And while it might have been 13 titles unlucky for Monáe,
01:56the 12 days of Christmas, perhaps,
01:59will be a better outcome for the CEO.
02:02Layla Gray there, you see Christian Daniels.
02:05Layla's manager, and he got a Meteora from the apron down.
02:10But look at Layla Gray there.
02:13It's Layla Gray who has been absolutely on fire
02:16as part of Sky Flight under the tutelage of Christopher Daniels,
02:19a man who's held championships all across the world.
02:24And really, this intensity, Nigel, has been the key
02:27in a lot of her victories.
02:28Yeah, she's taken laser cover.
02:30One, two.
02:31Gray, a four-year veteran.
02:33She's really found herself as a member of Team Sky Flight.
02:38And the neck-breaker, Monáe going towards this, two.
02:40Got a two-count that time.
02:42And fans will remind you,
02:43crashing like you've hit a wall after you entered your drink.
02:45Break through with iDrink.
02:46The clean, crash-free, ooh, productivity drink

02:59And Layla back into it.
03:01Wow.
03:02What a move that time by Mercedes Monáe.
03:05TBS title is on the line here.
03:08Whoa.
03:10And it's incredible to think that,
03:11still with 12 championships in hand,
03:13we're viewing some of these recent losses
03:15as maybe destabilizing Monáe in control, though.
03:18And wow.
03:19Another Meteora that time.
03:20Here's a cover.
03:21One, two.
03:23And a two-count.
03:24This is for the TBS Championship.
03:26We are live on collision,
03:27and we continue on TNT at HBO Max.
03:31Well, we open up this match, fellas,
03:33saying that perhaps this was the best time
03:36for Gray to face Monáe.
03:38You could also make an argument
03:40it is the worst,
03:41because a champion or anybody for that matter
03:44is never more dangerous than they are up against it
03:47on the back foot.
03:48I think so.
03:49I think that's a good point.
03:50I think that, I don't,
03:52because she is so talented,
03:53I'm not going to say that Mercedes was complacent
03:56with the 13 titles,
03:58but she's got more motivation now
04:00than she's had for quite a while.
04:02And I think fatigue comes into play, too,
04:03at some point, Tony.
04:04I mean, sometimes folks,
04:06athletes, great athletes even,
04:07bite off more than they could chew.
04:08Monáe, certainly one of the number one wrestlers
04:11in the world right now,
04:13and perhaps just filling that dance card a little too full,
04:16maybe getting a little too ahead of herself.
04:18One, two.
04:20That is certainly what Chris Statlander said about Monáe
04:23the number four for Statlander's AEW women's title.
04:27Of course, Statlander left full gear with...
04:33And we hear the dueling chance close line there.
04:38As Monáe takes control here,
04:40and the poise, I think,
04:42the emotion back out of the game plan of Monáe right now
04:46as she fired through in the beginning
04:47with that sneak attack, Tony.
04:48Yeah, absolutely.
04:49There you see the matches we have coming up.
04:52And, of course, Layla Gray, as you mentioned earlier.
04:55One, two, three.
04:57That's 6'7".
04:58That's 6'7".
04:59Is everybody doing that now?
05:00Get your hands up.
05:01Come on, Layla.
05:02How do the cool kids?
05:03Well...
05:04Come on, Layla.
05:05Come on, come on.
05:06And look at this.
05:07As Layla tries to get to her feet,
05:10you mentioned that five straight
05:12and Ring of Honor wins for her.
05:14And certainly, and not just kind of cupcake wins either.
05:18Defeating some great challengers.
05:19Also, you can see the progress.
05:21You can see the poise coming through.
05:23Nigel, you see a great athlete developing,
05:25finding her potential.
05:26That's why I think tonight's right for an upset.
05:28Well, we've seen upsets of late here in AEW.
05:32Certainly, always a possibility,
05:34but it is hard to get bets against the CEO.
05:38Chinbikes applied that time,
05:40and just ragdolls her down with a hair.
05:42Mercedes-Benz Mane.
05:46You can just tell her facial reactions.
05:49How angry she is,
05:51and how frustrated she is about what happened last night.
05:54One, two, one.
05:57Yeah, that self-regulation, those big deep breaths,
05:59really trying to calm and find center for Mercedes-Benz Mane.
06:03You would understand, Tony, if you'd ever held a title.
06:06Look at that corner.
06:08Yeah, go back to that one, Nigel, every time.
06:11Still doesn't work.
06:13What's your biggest victory in life?
06:15Overcoming you.
06:17Get up!
06:18Be nice, gentlemen.
06:19It's Christmas time, holiday season.
06:22Sure is.
06:23It's a humbug.
06:26Oh, speaking of.
06:29Let's go!
06:30Let's go!
06:31Let's go!
06:33Let's go!
06:34To the 12 belts owned by Mercedes-Benz Mane.
06:37The TBS title is on the line here tonight.
06:39We are live on Collision in Columbus, Ohio.
06:44As Mercedes goes in, misses.
06:48Layla Gray stumbles out to the center of the ring.
06:52Couple lariats down goes the champ.
06:55How about that sling blade sending down Mercedes into the corner.
07:01Layla Gray finding her second wing, but ooh.
07:04Awkward knee strike and Gray goes down hard.
07:07Yeah, Layla may have hurt herself with that knee strike.
07:11Trying to get up.
07:12Takes her away of her ability.
07:13Barely able to put any weight on the leg, yeah.
07:15Oh, wow!
07:16Oh, boy.
07:17Here's a good one, two.
07:20Desperately clings on though.
07:22It's a statement maker.
07:24Statement maker, Layla Gray.
07:26Get out of this!
07:27Get out of this!
07:28Oh, Gray struggle.
07:29Oh, it's Christopher Daniels back through-
07:30Oh, they got a cap.
07:31There is...
07:33C-O.
07:35C-O.
07:36C-O.
07:38C-O.
07:39Oh!
07:42C-O.
07:43Christopher Daniels.
07:43They need to release this.
07:44And Christopher Daniels trying to break things up here.
07:46and gray unfortunately may have hit that knee in
07:53what about laying the gray's knee christopher daniels is
