00:00Long ago, there was a rock floating through space, searching for where she belonged.
00:07She would visit many planets and travel to the farthest reaches of the universe,
00:11but would she find what she was looking for?
00:14The Stellar One is a tale of self-esteem and self-discovery.
00:19Hello, my name is Bandit. I'm the father of Bluey and Bingo.
00:23Today I'm going to read you a story called The Stellar One by Daniel Errico.
00:28I hope you enjoy.
00:31When the universe was young, the sky was filled with planets and stars and stardust and many, many rocks.
00:40One of these rocks was a bit more special than the rest.
00:44She was unlike any that came before her.
00:46She was a kind and happy rock who always floated near a big blue planet.
00:52Sometimes when the light hit her surface, she would glow a brilliant green.
00:56At times like those, she almost didn't look like a rock at all.
01:01As the sky moved from day to day and week to week, the rock would see planets far off in the distance.
01:07She would wonder what it would be like to go to them.
01:09Week after week and month after month she would wonder, until one day she decided to go find out.
01:15The rock had never gone anywhere before and wasn't sure how to go about it.
01:19She started to rock back and forth.
01:22Then she started to spin.
01:23Soon enough, she was flying through the sky.
01:26As she left, clouds swirled on the big blue planet.
01:30For it was sad to see her go.
01:32And when planets cry, there is a rainstorm.
01:36At first, the rock was not good at moving.
01:39She would spin too far to the right or too far to the left.
01:42Slowly, she learned how to travel whichever direction she liked, and she enjoyed exploring space.
01:49She saw a planet filled with water, with not a speck of land.
01:54Then found a planet all dried up, with beaches made of sand.
01:58She swore she met a planet who looked suspiciously like her.
02:03And then she saw a planet that was, well, she wasn't sure.
02:06One planet, she discovered, had grown forests made of green.
02:11Another one was very shy, not fond of being seen.
02:15She flew right by a planet, that was frozen icy cold.
02:19And then she saw a planet that was made of jewels and gold.
02:23She had started to notice that each planet seemed brighter than the last.
02:26They were all so different, and all so pretty.
02:30It became hard for her to decide where to go next.
02:32If each planet she visited was more beautiful than the one before it,
02:37then how could she decide which way to go next?
02:40And how could she decide where to stay?
02:43So she continued traveling, afraid to miss a single planet.
02:48Eventually, she came upon the big blue planet that she had once circled,
02:52but she found that is, was not the same.
02:55It was shining in a way that it never had before.
02:58It was more blue than it had ever been,
03:00and certainly more beautiful.
03:03This made her stop for a moment.
03:05I do not know where I should go next, she said out loud.
03:08Each direction is filled with wonderful planets,
03:11and I cannot stop,
03:13knowing that the next planet will be even more beautiful if I continue on.
03:17Even my big blue planet has grown more beautiful every day in my absence.
03:22The big blue planet overheard this.
03:24Can you not see why I am brighter?
03:26It asked.
03:27You are the brightest planet I have ever seen, she said.
03:30But I do not know why you glow brighter today than you did when I left you.
03:35You have brightened me, it said.
03:38But I am just a rock, she replied.
03:41You are no longer just a rock like the day you left me, said the big blue planet.
03:45You have grown bold and bright.
03:48Now you are a shooting star, and you are the reason that I shine.
03:53And while you are worrying about which direction to go,
03:56all of the planets in space are hoping that you will come their way to brighten them.
04:01And so, the shooting star, who was no longer just a rock, finally understood.
04:08It did not matter where she went, the light was her own.
04:12So the rock sat there for a moment, by the bright blue planet, and wondered.
04:17Should I keep travelling, or should I fly around the big blue planet and grow brighter with it each day?
04:24The End
04:26Thanks for listening, and good night.
04:30Thanks for listening, and good night.
