00:00I'm very pleased to be here. We're looking forward to discussions about Australia's education partnership with India, and particularly in the Punjab and this part of India.
00:09We'll also be visiting the Golden Temple tomorrow morning and looking forward to deepening our partnership.
00:14First time you are going to visit Golden Temple?
00:16It is the very first time, but in Australia we have a very large and fast-growing Sikh population.
00:23Sikhism and Hinduism are the two fastest-growing religions in Australia.
00:27And Punjabi is now the fifth most common language spoken in Australia, and the fastest-growing language.
00:33What do you like to say about contribution of Punjabis in Northrop in Australia?
00:37Well, they're contributing to every part of our national life, taking their place.
00:41And many people, of course, are from the Punjab. They claim heritage, but they're actually born in Australia.
00:47They're part of the Australian community.
00:49Now the number of visa fusels is getting high.
00:53People, students, if they want to study and go to Australia, they are like some sort of depression.
01:03Australia is refusing visas in a big number.
01:06Yeah, we'll be talking about some of these things with our partners over the next couple of days.
01:11Australia welcomes high-quality, genuine students, but not everyone who wants to come and study in Australia will be able to.
01:17There's too many people around the world.
01:20We need to ensure a high-quality student experience and make sure that people are genuine.
01:25Unfortunately, one of the things we're seeing, particularly in this part of India,
01:29is that there are too many agents who are just trying to make money,
01:34who are not giving good, honest advice to some of the students and young people.
01:39So they're taking the money, they're creating fake documents,
01:42and that's not helping the young people or their families.
