00:00Hello there and welcome to your Thursday One Show live on BBC One and iPlayer and look who's back
00:11from touring with his band JLS, it's JB Gill. Oh it's good to be back Alex, thank you. And whilst
00:17I was on the road with the boys we had the honour of taking part in a brilliant one big thank you.
00:23Now very shortly you'll see the moment we surprise two inspirational sisters Megan and Brogan who
00:28after experiencing a tragic event have made it their mission to help others in their community.
00:33Oh it's really lovely that one isn't it. Also on the show tonight we will be joined by two
00:37award-winning actors who are starring in an incredibly emotional festive film. Now she's
00:43appeared in everything from The Sixth Sense to About a Boy whilst he's brought us fantastic
00:48performances in Harry Potter and Mr Turner. But now Timothy Spall and Tony Collette have teamed up
00:54for the film Goodbye June, directed by none other than Kate Winslet and it's all about a
00:59dysfunctional even family who come together when their elderly mother's health takes a turn for the
01:04worse. Oh my gosh it is so emotional but it is really life-affirming as well and joining them
01:11is the man best known for bringing lunges into our lounges, Joe Wicks is here. Now he'll be sharing
01:17his tips on the latest food trend we all seem to be hearing about, eating more protein and I'm sure
01:22that high protein diet came in handy when Joe took on the gladiators for this year's
01:26celebrity Christmas special. We'll have an exclusive look later in the show. Yes we will. Now lots coming
01:32up but first earlier today it was announced that energy watchdog Ofgem approved extra investment in
01:38the UK's gas and electricity network which some say could push up our energy bills. So we're shining a
01:44light on the country's journey to using renewable energy. Yeah Joe Crowley has been given exclusive
01:49behind the scenes access ahead of a significant milestone that will see us go 100% green for the
01:55very first time. Running Britain's electricity grid entirely on green energy has never happened before
02:03but now the future's here. In the months ahead for the first time ever the entire electricity network
02:10will be 100% run albeit briefly without fossil fuels. So that's no coal and no gas.
02:19It's a journey that began in Marykirk Aberdeenshire in 1887. Feralith Green is the great granddaughter of James Blyth
02:27a Scottish inventor and renewable energy pioneer whose ideas were more than a century ahead of their time.
02:34This is one of James Blyth's turbines in the back garden at Marykirk. James built a 33 foot wooden turbine with cloth sails.
02:43Primitive now but revolutionary then. It generated enough electricity to light 10 bulbs inside the house
02:51and even powered a small lathe.
02:53Windmills and wind turbines have been used but I think his design was the first one that actually generated electricity.
03:01There is a story and I don't know if there's any truth in this that James Blyth offered to light the main street of Marykirk with electric light
03:09but I think some of the villagers they said it was the work of the devil.
03:13This is the only commercial wind turbine that was built in his lifetime.
03:18The fact that what he'd been building in his back garden actually had some practical application.
03:23He must have been very proud.
03:26At COP30 in Brazil the UK reaffirmed its commitment to clean energy and phasing out fossil fuels.
03:33And through the publicly owned company GB Energy it's investing in renewables,
03:38nuclear generation and exploring emerging technologies like tidal power.
03:43Now here at NISO the national energy system operator are the people balancing Britain's energy grid.
03:49Making sure our homes and businesses have enough power every second of every day.
03:55And to find out how this big green moment will work we've managed to gain rare access to one of Britain's most secure and advanced control rooms.
04:04This team managed by director of system operations Craig Dyke coordinates Britain's electricity network in real-time.
04:12I can remember a time where 24 hours notice you had to ring an oil fire post station to let them know you wanted to run that.
04:19You can find them tomorrow.
04:20Wow.
04:21Today's technology such as batteries means you can issue an instruction and they're on and running within a second.
04:25That is how much it has changed.
04:27How tricky is it?
04:28This moment where for the first time we're going to go without gas, without fossil fuels for a moment in time.
04:34Over the last five to six years we've built a plan and we are so close to be able to do it now.
04:39Earlier this year we had the lowest ever carbon on the system.
04:42It's so so close.
04:43What we really want is that one half hour just 30 minutes of zero carbon operation.
04:47If we can do it for 30 minutes then you can build it out for longer.
04:50Is it a big deal?
04:51We are probably the first country in the world to be able to say we've done this.
04:55It sets the way for Clean Power 2030 where the government has ambitions to be able to operate the system most of the time at zero zero carbon.
05:03So this is a small step but actually significant leap for GB.
05:06I mean those 20-30 targets are a long way up. Is it even achievable?
05:11It's ambitious but we're pretty confident we can operate the system zero carbon within the next few months.
05:16And we know that will set us in a really good standing to be able to operate that system for all the time in 2030.
05:22Claire Dichter is NISO's Director of Strategy and Policy.
05:26What will happen for this big moment to come around?
05:29We will need the right conditions.
05:31So it will more than likely be very windy, quite sunny as well and the demand of the system so what people are using will be relatively stable.
05:42So what would Clean Power pioneer James Blythe have made of this moment?
05:48I think if James Blythe had known that there was going to be this moment in history and everything would be powered by renewables including wind turbines he would have been amazed and astonished and delighted I think.
06:01Oh thank you so much for that Joe and since filming the team told us they hit a record 97.7% zero carbon early this year so hopefully they do get to 100% any day now because it has been very windy this week.
06:17I had a notice but they tell me it has.
06:19Well they'll need it.
06:20Still to come though I'll be delivering a one big thank you to two very special sisters alongside my JLS bandmates.
06:27But time now to introduce tonight's guest please welcome the nation's PE teacher Joe Wicks and award-winning actors Tony Collette and Timothy Spawn.
06:40Good to see you all.
06:41So it's the season of course for Christmas films you have a festive offering with a difference which is beautiful we'll get to that very shortly but Joe you're on the bandwagon already.
06:51Oh yeah we started earlier so my my wife's sister came around for a little sleepover the other day and we watched her favourite film which is Jingle All The Way and it's now like it's just a classic you know Arnie, Turbo Man.
07:01Yeah.
07:02Oh he's an action figure like it's a really fun film and that obviously in Home Alone 1 is my favourite of all time.
07:06Elite.
07:07That is the ultimate I think isn't it until the kids trying to recreate the stuff.
07:12Exactly well Joe has another film to add to his list tonight because Tony and Timothy are bringing us an unconventional Christmas film.
07:20Now it follows a father and his adult children whose lives are thrown into chaos when they're confronted with saying goodbye to their poorly mum and who's played by Dame Helen Mirren.
07:29But before we chat more let's take a look at Goodbye June.
07:32My gorgeous daughters.
07:35So lovely they can all be here for you.
07:37I'm here.
07:38I told you never wear yellow because it doesn't suit you darling.
07:41Oh no.
07:42Now why don't we have goose for Christmas?
07:45I always like a sheep bird.
07:47Dad shut up.
07:48Maybe if I'm lucky I'll come back as snow and then I'll see you all at Christmas time.
07:53I love you all so much.
08:00But I love you all twice as much when you love each other.
08:06Oh.
08:08Poor Alex.
08:10I mean.
08:11It's so lovely.
08:12How do you watch the trailer?
08:13The trailer set me off again now.
08:15Yeah.
08:16I mean it's such a moving movie.
08:17Tony it follows the journey of four siblings who come together and they're played by yourself Kate Winslet.
08:22Andrea Risborough and Johnny Flynn.
08:25Yeah.
08:26And they pull together through a very difficult moment.
08:28Just tell us about their family dynamic.
08:31Well we're kind of all living disparate lives.
08:33You know it's a bit fragmented and you know this challenge of losing the matriarch of the family.
08:39Our beloved mother brings us all back together.
08:43And she kind of quietly manipulates us into working through our problems and it obviously changes all of us.
08:51One of the most difficult things a person has to face in life.
08:54And you know it could easily be a film about a woman dying but it's about a woman living and the love in the family and all the hope and generosity.
09:06It is set around Christmas.
09:09Our mum, Helen's character June, it's called Goodbye June, loves Christmas and trying to get her through to that day.
09:15Yeah it's a very beautiful movie.
09:19I mean even I when I'm watching the trailer tear up.
09:21You can see how much it affects you and it is a celebration of this woman June's life isn't it Timothy you play the husband.
09:30I do.
09:31And what's really interesting is it it sort of shows how people deal with grief differently.
09:37Yeah indeed.
09:38Well Bernie he's all this is no help really.
09:43At all.
09:44Understatement.
09:45He's a massive pain in the butt really.
09:48But that's what people expect of him.
09:50He's a character that has cast himself as a character that says the wrong things.
09:54He's a joker.
09:56He's children are either telling him to shut up or just you know I mean he's just kind of but it's all a deflection.
10:05Because ultimately what he's doing is clouding.
10:08It's incredible pain he has.
10:10And you'll see it occasionally in the movie where he and his wife June and Bernie are together.
10:15And you see that there's a long marriage and they've gone through it together.
10:19And it's about that.
10:21And these this I have to say this team of actors and Kate this is like one of the most enjoyable fantastic experience of my life.
10:29And Kate is by far one of the best directors I've ever worked with.
10:32I mean it was just honestly I don't want to sound like the Partridge family but this bunch of every way actors came together.
10:39It could have gone the other way but it was an instant bond and Kate was a massively brilliant leader.
10:44It was a really exceptional experience and it's a brilliant script written by her son.
10:49Yes.
10:50Yes.
10:51Of course.
10:52And he wrote it when he was like 19, 20.
10:54How?
10:55I know.
10:56And the maturity, the delicacy of the older characters it's a it's actually like it's a kind of.
11:02The complexity of all their trajectories and having that emotional intelligence and the ability to understand what it is to be human and the cycle of life.
11:11It's incredibly insightful.
11:12If anybody ever wants to accuse it of being just because it's her son you go no this is a major major time.
11:18Joe you've got to watch this honestly but pick your moment.
11:21Yeah I love a good cry.
11:22I need a good cry and a good friend of mine one of my best friends just lost his mum so this is going to be something that's going to hit me hard when I watch this.
11:30Yeah I think so.
11:31I said to Timothy earlier I mean it's one of the best films I've seen in the last five years I honestly absolutely loved it.
11:36And it's not we should say it's not all sad though is it?
11:39No it's not.
11:40There's a light moments there's lots of comedy.
11:42You point at me then.
11:43Yes your character.
11:44I didn't realise I was the comic relief in the movie until we were shooting.
11:47My character's a bit of an idiot as well.
11:49But you do the karaoke and you know it is really heartfelt but it is quite a funny moment.
11:53Well that's when you see him expressing himself this agony through this song he does.
11:57And karaoke scenes in films can be a bit of a trope but in this case it's somebody who's actually opening their guts and their soul to show you what's going on.
12:05And it's not even direct it's like a thing where you see someone who has been in absolute and is in agony.
12:11Yeah.
12:12And it's a moment between him and his son he doesn't even know his son's watching.
12:15And his son's told him, accused him of not loving his mother.
12:18So it's a really really moment.
12:20Profound moment isn't it.
12:21Yeah.
12:22But it is funny you're right there's a lot of left.
12:24And Tony's character is brilliant.
12:26I mean she's a brilliant actress they're all brilliant these.
12:29And she just goes from funny to really really profoundly.
12:34So this whole thing.
12:35Well it's lifelike you know.
12:37Nothing's kind of dry and dramatic or just you know painfully phased comedy.
12:41And anybody who knows experience a profound thing there's always some inappropriate comedy or some appropriate comedy.
12:47It's never something terrible happens when it's really real.
12:51That's part of life isn't it.
12:52And there's a lot of that in this movie.
12:55Well congratulations what a film honestly Goodbye June will be in selected cinemas from Friday the 12th of December.
13:02And will be available to watch on Netflix on Christmas Eve.
13:05Yes.
13:06Still to come.
13:07Joe will be telling us what it was like facing up to the gladiators this year in their Christmas special.
13:11Goodness me.
13:12But time now for this week's one big thank you.
13:15And we are celebrating two sisters with a powerful story.
13:18Yes.
13:19Very shortly you will see the moment Aston, Marvin, Ariche and I surprise Megan and Brogan from Wigan.
13:24But first let's find out why they deserve their moment in the spotlight.
13:29Megan and Brogan are fantastic people.
13:35They've just taken everything in their stride and they've just become part of our family.
13:40In the summer of 2022 Megan and Brogan's brother Hayden went swimming near New Brighton with a friend.
13:46Despite being a confident swimmer he got into difficulty and asked his friend to swim to shore to send help.
13:53But by the time help arrived it was too late. Hayden had drowned.
13:58If you see a photograph of Hayden and the sort of build that he is.
14:03He's the type of person stereotypically we think that would be a strong enough swimmer.
14:08But this just proves that it could happen to anyone.
14:11Since that day Megan and Brogan have made it their mission to prevent others from drowning.
14:16They've given up their spare time to raise thousands of pounds for the RNLI through sponsored runs, bike rides and sailing events.
14:24They've been involved in numerous fundraisers for us at New Brighton.
14:30What they have done to raise money for us is insurmountable really.
14:35Megan and Brogan have also committed themselves to raising awareness of the dangers around water.
14:40Megan spoke at the launch of the World Health Organisation's Global Drowning Status Report.
14:48People who have lost a loved one standing in front of the general public explaining what that is like.
14:54And then off the back of that the education piece that they can deliver through their experience.
15:00That is absolutely amazing.
15:02Despite their own grief they've given up countless days of their time to give talks all over the world.
15:07In the hope of sparing other families from going through a tragic loss like theirs.
15:12Other people may be kept alive because of what they're actually now doing.
15:15We're just so grateful for what they've done. It goes way above and beyond.
15:23Well after all they've been through being able to dedicate their time to making such a difference is just incredible.
15:29Absolutely and we wanted to make sure Megan and Brogan knew just how inspirational they are.
15:34So when we found out who their favourite band was, well let's just say I was more than happy to help.
15:43This week we're in Nottingham to surprise Megan and Brogan.
15:47Now Megan thinks she's here for an interview about her work raising awareness around water safety.
15:52Brogan meanwhile is enjoying a well-earned holiday but don't worry she's not going to miss out on the surprise.
15:59And why Nottingham? Because this is the venue for a gig by one of their all-time favourite bands, JLS.
16:07Now like everyone on The One Show I absolutely love a one big thank you.
16:12But the difference with this one is I'm not doing it on my own.
16:15I've actually got the JLS boys to come and help me out.
16:19Megan is actually just down the corridor in another room conducting an interview.
16:23And once that's in the bag our team is going to casually suggest that it might be possible to meet JLS.
16:30We've heard so much about Megan, we're super excited.
16:32Apparently she's a massive fan so we're excited to meet her too.
16:35With the boys hidden away in their dressing room we're getting ready for the interview.
16:40I'm sorry it's a little bit manic.
16:42They've got a big gig on tonight, JLS, so it's a bit chaotic.
16:47Are you a fan of JLS?
16:48Yeah.
16:49Yeah.
16:50We're growing up.
16:51Our crew gets the interview underway.
16:53What are then some of the things that you can do to keep yourself safe?
16:58Being aware of potential hazards around the water and talking about them.
17:03Don't go swimming by yourself.
17:05It's not just about learning to swim, it's learning to float to live.
17:09Would you mind telling me a little bit about what happened to Hayden?
17:12We lost Hayden to drowning in 2022.
17:16It was the hottest day of the year and he went swimming with a friend, both very strong swimmers, and they got into difficulty.
17:22You've kind of used it to raise awareness.
17:25We started by sharing the little phrase, stay safe for Hayden.
17:29We can make a difference and potentially even just save one life or make one person think twice.
17:36That's why we do it and that's where we get our strength from.
17:39With the interview over, Megan thinks it's time to go.
17:42But in the corridor, our crew member says she might be able to get Megan in to meet JLS.
17:48Shall we see?
17:49We might be able to see if we can meet them.
17:52Yeah?
17:53Yeah.
17:54The boys hear her coming.
17:56Oh, hello.
17:57Hi.
17:58I'm just going with Megan.
18:00Oh, hello Megan.
18:01Nice to meet you.
18:02How are you?
18:03I'm good.
18:04Nice to meet you.
18:05Good to see you.
18:06Come meet the boys.
18:07Hi.
18:08How are you doing?
18:09How are you doing?
18:10How are you doing?
18:11I feel like I'm in a dream, are you?
18:14Megan is starting to wonder what exactly is going on.
18:17So JB is coming clean.
18:20Well, listen, Megan, we've heard a lot about you actually.
18:23And we know that you've been doing so much amazing work.
18:27Not just you, obviously your sister Brogan as well.
18:29And we're very proud of you, but you also got a very big surprise for you.
18:33Bigger than meeting you guys.
18:35Even bigger than meeting us.
18:38We're here from The One Show to give you and your sister Brogan a one big thank you.
18:45Yeah.
18:46Which you very much deserve.
18:49We know all the hard work that you've done and obviously all the things you've had to overcome in order to do that as well.
18:54So, not only are we very proud of you, we're so glad we get to meet you.
18:57We also know that your sister, you know, she couldn't be here today.
19:00So, do you think it's alright if we could maybe FaceTime her and say hello?
19:04Yeah.
19:05Ringing?
19:06Yeah.
19:07I'm real good, she'll do it.
19:08Brogan has no idea why her sister is ringing or who is also there.
19:12Hello.
19:13Guess who I'm with.
19:14I'm with JLS.
19:16Once Brogan's been brought up to speed, JB moves on to the next stage of the surprise.
19:22Now Brogan, you Megan don't know this as well, but we've actually got some videos to show you guys.
19:27There we go.
19:28Are we ready?
19:29Yeah.
19:30Hi Megan and Brogan, what a surprise this must have been to meet the wonderful JLS boys in person and on the phone.
19:38Now, we know it's been a joint effort between the two of you to make sure that Hayden's memory lives on.
19:44And because of the work you do in his name, you are actually saving lives.
19:49Hi, I just wanted to say a big thank you from all of us at Hoyleague and on behalf of the RNLI as well.
19:55Hi Megan, a sincere thank you for all of your efforts and your global advocacy on drowning.
20:00Wishing you a huge thank you from everybody at the charity for your help and support with our water safety and drowning prevention work.
20:06Hi Megan, I don't think we can tell you enough how we admire your inner strength and determination in sharing the quest for water safety in memory of Hayden.
20:17Both you and Brogan, your sister, are truly inspirational and we love you.
20:25There you go.
20:28Well done to both of you girls.
20:31We do have one final surprise for you, Megan.
20:34Seeing as you're here, you might as well have you stick around for a bit longer and come to the show tonight.
20:41If you're free.
20:43I'm free, I'm free.
20:44And listen, Brogan, not to leave you left out.
20:46The next time we do something, I'm sure we can organize for you to come and see us as well.
20:51We just want to say thank you once again and to give you your one big thank you.
20:55Yes.
20:56Go on.
20:57And Brogan.
20:58And Brogan.
20:59And Brogan.
21:00And Brogan.
21:01Well deserved.
21:02Dreaming.
21:03Dreaming.
21:04Dreaming.
21:05Dreaming.
21:06Dreaming.
21:07Dreaming.
21:08I don't ever want to wake up.
21:10I just love a one big thank you.
21:11I'm so happy we could do that for Megan and Brogan.
21:12And next Thursday, we will be dedicating a whole program to celebrating extraordinary people just like them with a festive one big thank you special.
21:29We'll have surprises galore, including a bit of Disney magic as well.
21:32Lovely.
21:33All will be revealed next week.
21:34Yes.
21:35And we would love to hear about anyone you know who goes that extra mile over Christmas, spreading festive joy throughout their community because we want to make their Christmas incredibly special.
21:44So please do get in touch.
21:46Tell us all about them at one big thank you at bbc.co.uk.
21:50Right then.
21:51Now then, Joe.
21:52You know, we've had lots of people on talking food, right?
21:54And at Christmas time, it's all about roast potatoes and how you make your gravy and all of that.
21:59But you are kind of looking ahead to the new year.
22:02It's healthy, protein based.
22:04But first of all, please tell me that you do indulge over Christmas.
22:08Oh, yeah.
22:09Listen, I'm a massive foodie.
22:10I love exercise.
22:11I love healthy food.
22:12But I'm also, you know, I just want to smash it.
22:14Christmas Day in boxing, there's like an all you can eat buffet, isn't it?
22:16I mean, you eat things you don't always eat like Twiglets and, you know, cheese and crackers and all these things that, you know, and even like boxes of chocolates that I love all that.
22:23So, yeah, I go in and I just make sure after Boxing Day, back to my workout, back to the, you know, cooking the healthy food.
22:28Because I don't want to drag it out right through to, you know, the first of Jan.
22:31And that's what most people do.
22:32So, try and enjoy it.
22:33No guilt.
22:34And then get back to your fitness and your healthy cooking, you know, when you can on Boxing Day or the day.
22:38I think that makes the nation feel better, Joe.
22:40See, knowing that.
22:41Now, earlier this year, you did a deep dive into ultra processed foods.
22:46So interesting.
22:47You also came up with this protein bar which caused a little bit of controversy.
22:51But the thing about it, it got people talking, didn't it?
22:54Yeah.
22:55So, what was it that you learned then about food through that process?
22:59So, most of my learning has come from Dr. Chris Van Tilke.
23:02And I read his book, Ultra Processed People, which just blew my mind.
23:04Yeah, brilliant.
23:05Understanding the system and the food and how it's marketed and the ingredients.
23:08And I didn't realise that a lot of these ingredients are harmful.
23:10And it's not like in isolation these ingredients are harmful, but it's the sheer volume.
23:14And, you know, so much of our diet now is coming from ultra processed foods.
23:17So, we kind of explored that.
23:18We looked into like the labelling and marketing around products and then tried to put pressure on the government to put health warnings on the food.
23:23So, some countries like in South America put these warnings on where it says, you know, high in fat, salt and sugar.
23:29And I obviously took that to extreme and I said, like, you know, may increase the risk of stroke, dementia, you know, cancers and things.
23:35And that's quite a bold thing to do, but it really got people talking.
23:38And I suppose it started the conversation that we need to look at the ingredients we're eating and challenge it and just not see it as normalised to be eating all these foods all the time.
23:45Yeah. Well, of course, we'll leave that, you know, argument to the documentary as well.
23:49But you've got a new cookbook now and that focuses on the high protein in your diet.
23:53And just why is high protein so important to you?
23:56Well, I mean, it's important, obviously, people assume that protein is just for like bodybuilders trying to build muscle.
24:00Actually, the body needs protein for many things, even like your skin, your hair, nails, hormonal balance, even that concentration and, you know, good gut health and digestion.
24:09So, it's about not obsessingly trying to hit this daily protein target.
24:13I think that's quite extreme, but it's about just being a bit more cautious and being more wary of like, am I consuming enough protein and getting into your diet?
24:19So, there's obviously protein from animal sources, but there's lots of veggie recipes in there as well.
24:22So, it's not like you don't just have to be eating meat and chicken and eggs to get protein in your diet.
24:26And, yeah, it's a really great, but the recipes are amazing.
24:28And it's really about family food, but done in like a 15 minute time frame.
24:31So, quick, quick and simple food.
24:33The first thing I looked at was how long does this take?
24:36And they're all really short.
24:37But the thing is about protein, it can be expensive, can't it?
24:41And it can be, you know, complicated cooking things from scratch.
24:43But you find a lovely way around that in this book.
24:46Yeah, I think, you know, it's about batch cooking, you know, getting a bit organised, meal prepping a little bit and planning the meals for the weekend.
24:52But you don't have to have like expensive beef mince and organic chicken breast in every single meal.
24:57Like, it's nice to have those things.
24:58But I've got lots of recipes that use like lentils and chickpeas and butter beans and things you might think are that ain't going to taste great.
25:04But you don't miss the mince just because you once you've got all the flavours and the stock and everything in there, it tastes delicious.
25:09So, yeah, it's really about family food that is quick.
25:11And like, I'm always thinking about that affordability thing because you don't want people to feel like I just can't eat healthy because I can't afford these ingredients.
25:17So we kept the ingredients quite small and, yeah, accessible to most people.
25:21Butter beans are immense, aren't they?
25:23They are.
25:24I've recently discovered them, love them.
25:26Immense.
25:27Immense.
25:28I love it.
25:29I love it.
25:31Will you mention their eventual...
25:33Yes.
25:34Yes.
25:35Yeah, we won't go there.
25:37But you mentioned family there and what I love is that you're passing a lot of this information down to the next generation.
25:43Look, you've got a little cliff, I think, or a little picture of your son, Marley, busy in the kitchen.
25:48Go on, lads.
25:50What is it like seeing him following your footsteps?
25:52He's making a cheese and pesto omelette there, which he makes for me and it's incredible.
25:55He makes a better omelette than me and I love that, you know, I'm teaching my kids to enjoy food, be a bit curious and adventurous,
26:00but also just have a life skill, you know.
26:02If they don't learn to cook at home, they're not likely to learn at school.
26:05So, I know it's stressful and it's messy and it's chaotic bringing kids into the kitchen,
26:09but if you can, just once every couple of weeks or once a week, teach them something like that.
26:13It's really going to set them up for a healthy future.
26:15I'm all for it.
26:16Well, you do a lot of it, don't you?
26:18And Joe will also be inspiring us to get active over the Christmas period because he is taking part in the Gladiators Celebrity Special
26:26and we have an exclusive look at how you got on Joe.
26:28I haven't even seen this myself, let's see it.
26:30Impressive swerving from Joe, who's got really good core strength with that wobbly bridge beneath him.
26:37He throws that ball into the net for his first two points.
26:40Now Joe seems to be getting the hang of it, but he's in a spin here.
26:44Almost knocked off.
26:46Phantom swings and misses.
26:48Joe gets in to make it four.
26:50Now, how many more could he score?
26:52He's given Phantom the slip again.
26:55But then a bit of a stumble from Joe.
26:57Love it.
26:58Oh, Joe, so you're up against Sam Thompson.
27:01Yeah.
27:02But, you know, it is quite a lot of pressure, isn't it?
27:04The body coach on Gladiators, you know, how did he feel?
27:07Well, firstly, like, it was so much more physical than I thought.
27:10Like, you know, hanging and getting smashed with the pugil sticks
27:13and you're going up against these, like, 18, 20 stone guys.
27:16And I'm not, I'm quite small, I'm quite slim, so you're getting smashed,
27:19your neck stiff the next day, everything aches.
27:21But yeah, it was really great.
27:22Sam, I'd never met Sam.
27:23He's a little firecracker, he's got so much energy,
27:25and we went head-to-head in the Eliminator,
27:26you know, up the old Traveller.
27:28It's a great bit of TV.
27:29Oh, my gosh.
27:30Tune in, because I'm not going to tell you the results,
27:31but it was a proper head-to-head battle between me and him.
27:33Love it.
27:34Can't wait to see it.
27:35Well, Joe's book, Protein in 15, is out now,
27:37and you can see him in the Gladiators Celebrity Special
