A new nationwide poll reveals a major shift in public opinion as a majority of Israelis reject Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request for an unconditional presidential pardon. With 53% opposing any pardon without an admission of guilt or remorse, the results deal a heavy blow to Netanyahu as he faces multiple corruption cases. At the same time, backlash is growing against the Haredi conscription bill, further intensifying political tensions. Netanyahu has responded with a new English-language video calling his trial “political,” accusing prosecutors of trying to remove him from power. As legal and public pressure mounts, Israel enters a moment of deep division and uncertainty.

00:00Tonight, a new poll from Israel is making waves, and it arrives at a critical moment for Prime
00:20Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. A fresh survey conducted by Tatika Research and Media,
00:27in collaboration with the Agenda panel, shows a clear public split and a noticeable skew on
00:34whether Netanyahu should receive a presidential pardon. When asked if they support Netanyahu's
00:41request for a pardon without admitting guilt or showing remorse, 53.2 percent of Israelis said
00:49they oppose it, while 42.4 percent said they support it. That's a major drawing a line.
00:57No admission, no remorse, no pardon. The poll also tapped into another controversial issue,
01:05the Herity Conscription Bill, proposed by M.K. Boze Bismuth. Here, over 53 percent said they
01:13oppose the bill under any circumstances. About 25 percent support it outright, and another 14 percent
01:21would support it only if changes were made. The survey included 500 Jewish and Arab respondents,
01:29carried out between December 3rd and 4th, with a margin of error of 4.4 percent.
01:35But this story goes beyond numbers. It intersects with a new video released by Netanyahu himself,
01:44a video where he pushes back hard against the cases being brought against him.
01:50In a clip posted to his social media account, Netanyahu, speaking in English,
01:56claims his corruption trial is political. He argues that prosecutors aren't seeking justice,
02:02they're trying to remove him from office.
02:05There are big things to do. There are peace treaties to get. There's AI and other technologies
02:13that are amazing that could change Israel, could change the Middle East, could change the world.
02:17That's what we do best in Israel. I can't deal with that. So they asked for a pardon. I asked for a
02:24pardon, okay? And we'll see if it comes out. But you wanted to know what this trial is about?
02:29This is what this trial is about. Bugs, buddy, and cigars.
02:36He begins by focusing on Case 4000, known as Bezek Wella Affair. Netanyahu says he is being
02:46tried for receiving favorable coverage from a second-rate internet site.
02:51I'm accused of receiving favorable press coverage from a second-rate internet site.
02:56In the 250 years of liberal democracy, no one has been accused of receiving favorable
03:05press coverage as a crime. That's the so-called bribe.
03:09Prosecutors, however, allege something far more serious, that Netanyahu approved regulatory
03:16decisions worth hundreds of millions of shekels to benefit Shaul Elevich, a major shareholder in Bezek.
03:24And in return, received generous positive coverage from the Bezek-owned Walla News.
03:32In the video, Netanyahu points out that the judges in the case recommended dropping the bribery
03:39charge back in 2023, a recommendation prosecutors rejected. He still faces fraud and breach of trust
03:47charges. And then the video takes an unexpected turn. Netanyahu shifts to Case 1000, a separate set of
03:56allegations involving luxury gifts from billionaires Arnon Milchan and James Packer.
04:03The gifts worth hundreds of thousands of shekels range from cigars to jewelry. Even a Bugs Bunny doll
04:11bought for Netanyahu's son. And Netanyahu leans into that detail. He holds up a Bugs Bunny toy and declares
04:19that from now on, this should be called the Bugs Bunny trial. The Prime Minister says the entire case is
04:26absurd. While prosecutors argue that the gifts came with expectations, that Netanyahu provided favors in
04:34return, particularly to Milchan. The video arrives as Netanyahu continues pressing President Isaac Herzog
04:42to intervene and dismiss the indictments. Former U.S. President Donald Trump has even shared articles,
04:50boosting Netanyahu's pardon request. The combination of public skepticism, a high-profile political push,
04:57and the Prime Minister lashing out at the justice system sets the stage for a highly charged political
05:05battle. One that could shape Israel's legal and political landscape for years to come.
