00:00The United States is considering expanding its travel ban,
00:04potentially raising the number of affected countries from 19 to over 30.
00:08The plan was confirmed by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noam,
00:13though she did not say which countries might be added.
00:18Noam told Fox News that President Donald Trump is continuing to evaluate targeted countries as part of the review.
00:25In June, Trump signed a proclamation barring citizens of 12 countries from entering the U.S.
00:30and imposing restrictions on travelers from seven others,
00:34citing the threat of foreign terrorists and other security risks.
00:38The measures cover both immigrants and non-immigrants, including tourists, students and business travelers.
00:44Any expansion would mark a further tightening of U.S. migration policies
00:48coming after last week's shooting of two National Guard members in Washington.
00:53Trump has also ordered a broad review of asylum cases approved under the Biden administration
00:58and green cards issued to citizens of 19 countries.
