00:00Former Wales midfielder Dave Edwards believed Cardiff City are undergoing a rejuvenation of
00:06reminiscence of the one he experienced at Wolves years ago. After a difficult previous season where
00:13relegation was inevitable, the club has used the setback to lay the foundations for long-term
00:17growth. With Brian Barry Murphy at the helm and the wave of young academy talent stepping into
00:22the first team, optimism has returned to Cardiff City Stadium. Speaking on the Sky Sports EFL podcast,
00:30Edwards praised the club's strategy, highlighting the boldness of appointing a coach known for
00:35nurturing young players. I think they've adapted to the level really well, he said. The vision to go
00:42in with a young team and a coach who develops talent is already paying off. I experienced something
00:47similar at Wolves. Relegation to League One gave the club a chance to reset, bring through young
00:53players and re-establish a clear identity. Edwards believes Cardiff are handling the transition with
01:00impressive efficiency. He singled out young players such as Dylan Lawler and Reuben Colwell for their
01:06impact, while also noting the value of experienced heads like Callum Chambers and Ryan Wintle, who
01:13provide balance and guidance on and off the pitch. It does take time to adjust to the league, but
01:20Cardiff have done it very well, Edwards added. Looking ahead, Edwards expects the club to continue
01:26strengthening as the season progresses, particularly during the January transfer window.
01:33He sees Cardiff positioning themselves for a serious promotion push, building on both their
01:38youthful energy and the stability provided by experienced players. All things are going well
01:43and I just see them continuing to do well and getting stronger, he said. I see them investing in
01:49January and I think Cardiff will be in the top two by the end of the season. For Edwards, the parallels
01:56with his own career at Wolves underline a broader truth. Clubs that embrace youth, adaptability and
02:02long-term vision can turn setbacks into stepping stones, creating momentum for sustained success.
02:09Cardiff's current trajectory suggests they may be doing exactly that.
