Italy’s Serie A is gearing up for its most thrilling season in years — and it might just be the best title race in all of Europe.
In this video, we break down why the 2025/26 Serie A campaign could surpass the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 in drama, tactics, and unpredictability. From Inter’s resurgence and Milan’s rebuild to Napoli’s next chapter and Roma’s revival, this is shaping up to be football’s most competitive league season yet.
00:00Ciao Ciao Dosto, I am Ajay Benyan, I am a Serie A content creator based in India or Romanista.
00:07And in this video, I am going to tell you all why the title race in Serie A is going to be insanely competitive.
00:14So without any further ado, let's start the video.
00:17Alright, let's start with Napoli, the current Scudetto and Serie A title holders.
00:23Antonio Conte's Napoli went on an amazing run last season as they snatched the Scudetto on the final day from the hands of Inter-Nazionale Milan or Inter-Milan.
00:34However, as exciting as the title race was, Napoli and Conte almost seemed like they were on the verge of a divorce last season.
00:43But eventually, the Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis and Antonio Conte found a middle ground and that enabled Antonio Conte to spend heavily in the summer reinvesting in that Napoli squad that had just won the league.
01:00In came in, Kevin De Bruyne from Man City on a free transfer, arguably one of the highest profile players to have come to play in the Italian Serie A for a very long time.
01:14Kevin De Bruyne may be the king, but Noah Lang, Lorenzo Luca and Rashma Shoylan bolstered the Napoli attack that now looks to be firing on all cylinders.
01:27This is a Napoli team that is expected to fight for the title as well as win the domestic trophy in the Copa Italia and go deep in the Champions League.
01:36Something that Antonio Conte has been aiming to do for a while now.
01:40Speaking of De Bruyne, he's been deployed in multiple positions by Conte.
01:44It could be a Metzala, a Trevkartista or a Regista.
01:48De Bruyne has been through it all and boy has he delivered for Napoli.
01:53He's got 10 goals and assists in 11 outings for Napoli as well as his national team, Belgium.
02:00Unfortunately, Romelu Lukaku has been injured but Rashma Shoylan has picked up some form as he's gone on an insane run scoring in the Champions League in Serie A and now for the national team as well for Denmark.
02:14So Napoli and Conte seem to be the favourites to defend their Serie A title this year.
02:22But let's talk about the challengers.
02:24And I'm starting off with the youngster from Croatia who has impressed everyone.
02:29One and only Luka Modric. AC Milan signed the veteran from Madrid and boy oh boy has Luka Modric delivered or what.
02:41He's been like a fine wine like how we say in Italian you know.
02:45But my point is that Luka Modric is still delivering on the pitch.
02:50Let's have a look at some of his stats.
02:53Luka Modric is number one in interceptions, in completed passes, in completed passes in the opposition half.
03:01He's number one in line breaking and he's number one in winning back the ball possession.
03:06So Luka Modric, you look at his heat map, you feel that he's some kind of young player coming out and you know making his mark in that Milan midfield.
03:17But man he's a spring chicken, he's 40 years old and he's still doing it for Milan at the highest level.
03:23Now Milan obviously got back Max Allegri, their old coach who won them Scudetto.
03:29And Allegri, whatever said and done, there are a lot of question marks, even he needs to redeem himself.
03:36In what was a very disappointing spell with Juve, his second stint with Juve that is.
03:41But Allegri is known to win trophies.
03:44Even in that disappointing spell with Juve, his second stint, he still managed to win the Coupa Italia.
03:50Granted Allegri's last Scudetto was some time away, but do not rule out AC Milan as the number one contender for Napoli.
03:59AC Milan also have the benefit of not playing European football that actually helped Napoli last season quite a lot as they only had to play one game a week.
04:09Now coming on to Milan's cousins, the other side of Milan, the Nerazzuros side, Inter Nazionale Milano or Inter Milan.
04:17I would still say that despite Simone Inzaghi weaving, despite their season, the last season crumbling down.
04:24At one point there were favourites to probably at least win a trophy.
04:28There were some murmurs that Inter could go and get a treble.
04:32Unfortunately their season came falling down, crashing down in a month where they got knocked out of the Coupa Italia.
04:38They lost the league on the final day and of course that infamous final loss against Paris Saint Germain.
04:45Final and Simone Inzaghi immediately leaving for Saudi.
04:49You expected this Inter team to disintegrate after that.
04:53You know of course the coach left and there were whispers that a few high profile players might leave but nothing came to fruition.
05:00Inter have managed to maintain the bulk of the score.
05:04They have added Akanji, Benjamin Pavard left Inter but they have got Akanji from Man City to strengthen their back line.
05:11And of course Lautaro Martinez is leading the line along with Marcus Durand and Pawnee who is coming from Parma.
05:18Who looks like a very good addition already to this Inter attack.
05:22Christian Kivu, ex-Inter and Roma player has now taken the reins as the new Inter coach.
05:29Now he did not have a lot of time under him previously just managing 13 odd games of Parma.
05:35And we saw a few glimpses of him in the club world cup where Inter themselves were quite disappointing.
05:39But they have started this season on a positive note.
05:42Despite a loss they have been quite consistent especially in the Champions League.
05:47And they are slowly finding their identity under Christian Kivu.
05:51Can inter mount a title challenge with this coach?
05:54Maybe.
05:56But these set of players have the ability.
05:59They know what its like to be in a title race.
06:02The core team have won trophies together.
06:05And Lautaro Martinez is leading from the front in what is a world cup year for him.
06:10Where he is expected to be the main man for Inter.
06:13I would say that both the Milan clubs are a serious serious threat to Napoli this season.
06:19Now let's have a look at the dark horses.
06:22And by no disrespect this is a segment where I am going to raid some other teams who have an outside chance at the Scudetto.
06:29Starting off with Juventus have started the season with a lot of draws.
06:34And this has been a trouble for them even in the previous coach.
06:38Even in the previous cycle where they kept on dropping points in games that they were expected to win.
06:45Now that's the reason why I put them as dark horses for this year's Serie A race.
06:50It's not like the UE are going to be really far off from the title.
06:53But I think with the limited squad, with Igor Tudor's limited coaching experience,
06:58I feel that they have an outside shot and they are not a direct rival to Napoli's chances.
07:03This is not the UE of the past.
07:05The UE of the past had a solid defensive back line.
07:09A commanding goalkeeper in Gigi Buffon.
07:12And probably one of the most sought after defences in world football.
07:16Now that spine has been broken.
07:18This is a new UE.
07:20They are kind of in a new cycle as well.
07:23But it is Keenan Yates that you need to keep an eye out for.
07:27He is the young star in the making.
07:29He is already donning number 10 on his back.
07:32His idol Alessandro Del Piero is number 10.
07:35And he has been at the forefront of UE's successes this season.
07:40The biggest game was the UE vs Inter Nazanale game.
07:45The Derby d'Italia.
07:46You saw it.
07:47It was a fantastic game.
07:48It swung both ways.
07:49Anyone could have won it.
07:50But it was the UE who came out on top.
07:52A very commendable win against bitter rivals.
07:56But even after that.
07:57I still feel that UE still have a little further to go.
08:02When it comes to being title challengers.
08:04So these are my top 4 picks.
08:06I have Napoli.
08:08I have both the Milan teams.
08:09I have UE.
08:10And yeah.
08:11If you guys are asking about Roma.
08:13I think Roma are going to be in a race for the Champions League places.
08:17Which also gets very exciting in Italy.
08:19I mean.
08:20Serie A has always been one of the most entertaining leagues.
08:24And over the last 5-6 years.
08:26We have seen that the title race is very interesting.
08:28The race for Europe is interesting.
08:30The relegation battle also gets interesting.
08:32But I feel this year.
08:33It's going to get tighter for the Champions League.
08:36And the European spots.
08:37Because you have Roma.
08:38You have Bologna.
08:39You have Lazio.
08:41You have Atalanta.
08:42You have Fiorentina.
08:44And of course.
08:45We have Como also in the mix.
08:47Ces Fabregas' Como.
08:49Who have made some amazing signings over the summer.
08:51And play a very brand new attractive style of football.
08:55Are in the mix for those European places.
08:57That was the video guys.
