00:00John Cena explains why he's okay with his jorts being mocked.

00:04John Cena opened up on why he never had a problem with people mocking his jorts.

00:09During a recent episode of Raw Recap, host Sam Roberts said he believes John Cena's

00:14trademarked jorts have reached the same level of significance as the Undertaker's iconic

00:19Deadman gear.

00:21When he talked about some fans mocking the jorts, Cena said that they made his character

00:25authentic.

00:26John Cena noted that he did face criticism and even harassment over the jorts, but he

00:31never gave in to any of them.

00:34He believed he could take any ridicule and still keep the authenticity of his character

00:38by continuing to wear them.

00:40My take away on that is, it's okay to be authentic, John Cena began.

00:45I'm able to be confident enough in myself to weather the storm of criticism, and in

00:49many cases, harassment and ridicule.

00:52As a lot of people are reflecting on these moments, people are bringing up moments that

00:56meant a lot of positive stuff for me.

00:59I have been a very polarizing character in the WWE, and that's led to a lot of people's

01:04moments.

01:05Some of those marquee matches and some of those moments have been very polarizing.

01:10To be able to wear a uniform that I felt comfortable in, a character that I felt comfortable in,

01:16and not waver when other people wanted to be pleased.

01:19Not waver from what was in my heart.

01:22Because my first run, my first try, I tried to please everyone, and it was inauthentic.

01:27And when I got a chance to be a character, the stuff where I wanted to evolve the character,

01:32I still maintained my authenticity.

01:35I think that's important for any long-standing success in here.

01:38You do good work, coachable, reliable, and you're invested.

01:42I think the investment is passion.

01:44The passion can reflect authenticity.

01:47The Jorts now are in whatever perspective they're in, because I just wouldn't give

01:50up on wearing them.

01:51I could take their best shot, their biggest ridicule, and still put forth great effort.

01:56Be reliable, and do good work while wearing cut-off jeans.
