Zac Taylor on Bengals' Matchup With Bills, Injury Updates and More
Transcript
00:00He's working through it, making progress, limited today, yep, same with Taj Brooks,
00:09same category, both making good progress. A lot of this group has been around for a while. I know
00:23some of them have left and come back, but they've had a lot of continuity over there. I know they've
00:27added a couple new pieces, but they've done a good job. Sean's been a part of that defense
00:32obviously for nine years now. Bobby Babish has been there I think the entirety of the time
00:37as well. So a lot of continuity over there, a lot of veterans that know how to do it, a
00:41lot of young guys that they're working in the mix as well. So just a really, really solid
00:45group that makes things difficult for you.
00:49Why do you think yourself, Dan Pitcher, and Joe Burrow work so well as a group?
00:55Well, I think like anything, we've been together a long time. You know, Pitch has been here
01:00since before I got here. We made him the quarterback coach right when Joe walked in the door. So
01:06that relationship has just continued to grow over Joe's tenure here. I like to think it's
01:15it's guys that, you know, we can adapt to each other and work well with each other and put
01:20Brad Craig Thorpe in that mix. You put Jake Browning in that mix. You put Joe Flacco in that mix as
01:24well. So I just think that it's, it's, you know, people that like working together, see
01:29things the same way. Everyone's got input. Everybody I just mentioned has input on how
01:34we do it. I don't think there's any egos involved there with how it needs to be done. And we're
01:38able to try to problem solve during the week and during the game as well and try to get the
01:42best result. I think we just, we keep things fluid during games and always want his feedback. That's
01:59one thing I learned early in my career as a quarterback coach is if you got a quarterback
02:03that's earned the respect to give his voice, then you listen to it. He's the guy that's out there.
02:08He's got to do it and problem solve and get it done. And so we've, we've always made it a point
02:12to give Joe that voice and he learned it really from day one when he got here. And so you're able
02:17to, to, I thought he played well, but to work through any issues, sometimes there's going to
02:22be some holes in the action, you know, or maybe you have a three and out or two and you need to
02:25find a rhythm and you might have this plan you set in place to go do it, but Hey Joe, what do you
02:30need to, to get us going here? And he's always really good with the feedback on that.
02:34With concussion protocol, does T or any player, do they have to clear it before they can be a full
02:40participant in practice? Is that how that works? Correct.
02:46Zach, now that we're into the week and, uh, the weather here has presented some conditions that
02:53are, I don't want to say equivalent to what it will be like in Buffalo, but closer, maybe. Um,
03:00how much thought do you give to taking advantage of that in the sense of exposing your guys to it?
03:06I think it's like, I think it's supposed to snow again this week. Would you ever consider taking
03:10them out? We're, we're always very mindful. Um, I like to be outside every week, not every day
03:16necessarily, but, but you like to get out there at some point. I think it's, I told our players,
03:20great news. It's going to be cold in Buffalo and it's going to be cold here the next couple
03:23days. And so they were excited to hear that. Um, so we get a chance to get out there and work in
03:28the elements and, and so we're always very mindful of where we're going to play and how we need to
03:34practice and like to get outside. The players like being outside, um, at least for part of the week.
03:39And I don't like to be inside every day if we can avoid it. Sometimes you can't avoid it.
