00:001 auf 4, take 1.
00:02What?
00:04Wir streamen?
00:06This is great, this is exactly what you wanted, right?
00:08Oh!
00:10We're all back together,
00:12and it's a dream.
00:14We fought really hard to get this show back together.
00:16It's the number one streaming show in the world, man.
00:18So, you know, people love it for a reason.
00:20Criminal Minds Evolution
00:22looks
00:24different. It looks
00:26like it has a larger scope.
00:28It's more cinematic.
00:30You stay in the world
00:32longer. If anybody ever wanted to see
00:34more Garcia just living
00:36her life, you get
00:38to see that in a much
00:40longer, deeper way, and that's true
00:42with all the characters. I think there's just a lot
00:44more artistic
00:46license on streaming,
00:48which is very exciting
00:50for me as a director.
00:52Because we're on streaming, we get to be a little bit more authentic
00:54to the world. I mean, there's no way you can keep
00:56walking across dead bodies and not drop an
00:58f-bomb every once in a while.
01:00you very much.
01:02Bullshit! I'm not gonna name this
01:04jag off.
01:06okay? I will say, Ross, he's got
01:08a bit of a potty mouth. But it's
01:10real, you know?
01:12I think by being in streaming, we're able to kind of
01:14push the envelope a little bit. In a way,
01:16it pushes us into even that
01:18much more realism, in a sense.
01:20Can you explain to her why we failed?
01:22Hey, get the hell out of my way.
01:26I mean, listen, the darkness
01:28and the
01:30the way that this show has always gone there
01:32and I really was surprised
01:34by how far they were able to push the envelope on network.
01:40Being on Paramount Plus is really going
01:42to give us the latitude to go even further with that.
01:44I think it's important for us
01:46to always show
01:48as close as we can
01:50to the reality of what this job is like.
01:52It's an homage to the people
01:54who really do this job every day.
01:56We are working harder than ever before
01:58to catch these predators, to understand
02:00how they live and where they work.
02:02The thing that makes this season different
02:04from the past 15 seasons
02:06is the serialized nature
02:08of our season-long
02:10bad guy.
02:12Help! Help!
02:14Help! Help!
02:16It's something we've been able to explore in the past
02:18but nothing that gets to
02:20dive quite as deep
02:22into the criminal mind itself.
02:24Because we've got the time
02:26and we've got the space to really dig
02:28inside the psyche of one specific serial killer
02:30people are really going to get a really
02:32complex look at what makes them tick.
02:34Everybody's coming to this year
02:36having gone through the pandemic,
02:38just like the audience.
02:40Oh my goodness, we are so overdue
02:42for breakfast.
02:43Oh we are, I hear it's a hellhole there.
02:45Oh yeah, I wouldn't say that.
02:48We've all suffered a lot
02:50over these last three years
02:52with the pandemic and
02:54all of the trauma that has come along
02:56with that.
02:57Everybody's sheltered in place,
02:59no one to stalk, abduct, or kill
03:01without taking a huge risk.
03:02I think this season you're going to get to see
03:04much more of who these people are
03:06on a personal level.
03:07We're diving into a few different themes.
03:10One is really illustrated through Rossi's arc
03:14of grief and loss.
03:16So many people are in that space right now.
03:20I think it's important to have a character on television
03:22explaining their process.
03:24Where do we find Garcia?
03:26She is essentially living her best life.
03:28Garcia thrived while sheltering in place,
03:30you know, and she has structured her life
03:32exactly the way she wants.
03:34Like, no one should ever penetrate this bubble.
03:37And you know what's not there when we get to her?
03:40The BAU.
03:41You can't just waltz in here and blurt out
03:43there's a missing girl.
03:44Take one of these, they're very good.
03:46We're going to see JJ's family in a different way.
03:50That relationship and that marriage.
03:52Counting down the seconds between school drop-off
03:56and family dinners and...
03:58Dead buns.
03:59Yeah, that too.
04:00Now they've been separated because of budget cuts
04:04and all the other things that have happened during COVID.
04:07And so it's seeing the team on their own a little bit,
04:11which is the first time we've ever done that.
04:14I need some help.
04:17Fans are going to get the criminal minds that they love.
04:21Plus, this team has evolved.
04:23We're better, we're more devoted.
04:25What's not going to surprise people?
04:28It's exciting.
04:29It just feels almost, oh, this is so dumb.
04:33It feels evolved.
04:35It's an evolution.
04:36And if you're listening to that going,
04:38wow, that sounds great.
04:39It's because it's great.
04:41You should be a little jealous.
04:43I'm glad the BAU is out there protecting people.
