00:00How are you doing, pal? You all right?
00:02I'm well. How are you?
00:03Good to see you, sir.
00:04Very well, sir. Very well in jeans.
00:05I've got the big apparatus. I love the lights.
00:07This time last year we met on the fallout carpet.
00:09I was far too excited to explain because I'm such a big fan of Twin Peaks.
00:12So I just want to say my condolences, sir, to a lot of your close friends.
00:15Oh, bless your heart. Thank you very much.
00:17Yeah, David Lynch is a dear, dear friend. His loss is a big deal.
00:21But it must have been good to see the outpouring of love and respect and adoration
00:26that's been shown towards him and his work and the work that you guys have done together.
00:29Yes.
00:30Over this last over this last year.
00:32Yeah, it was really it was nice to see.
00:34I think I know it would have meant a lot to David as well.
00:38So thank you for that.
00:39No problem.
00:40I'm talking about leaving an impact like such as he did for that season one.
00:45People are loving this show. I'm loving this show.
00:48When I was on the carpet last year, I haven't seen an episode.
00:51OK, I hadn't played the game, but I thought, oh, the cast is good.
00:54We'll see what happens. I destroyed that series.
00:56I watched every episode.
00:57I'm so happy to hear that.
00:58Do you when you're making a show like that, like, do you sense that secret sauce anymore?
01:03I mean, you've been part of some huge successes over the years.
01:06I'm lucky. You know, it's one of those things where you just never know how something is going to go.
01:10Right.
01:11We had brilliant people, you know, behind the scenes, producing, writing, creating, working on this.
01:17And I'm just lucky to be part of this. It's a wonderful cast of people.
01:21We really get along. We love each other.
01:23And they just, they created something really amazing, you know.
01:27And so, you know, that doesn't happen all the time.
01:29So, yeah, I'm very lucky. Filled with gratitude.
01:32I'm filled with gratitude as well, because we get to watch it.
01:35Let's talk Hank for a second.
01:37How could you, sir, betraying your own daughter, betraying your own kin?
01:43I'm very, very suspicious. I'm sus, as the kids say.
01:46Yeah, sus. Yeah, well done.
01:48Yes, yes.
01:49You know, Hank is one of those complex characters that's just full of all sorts of opposites, you know, which I love playing in particular.
01:57I sort of cut my teeth on that. So he's still the loving father to his daughter.
02:02He's still the charismatic leader of Vault 33.
02:05But in season two, we get to see sort of Hank the scientist, Hank the inventor, Hank the visionary.
02:10He's got an idea and he's a dreamer, you know.
02:13So it was really fun to be able to step into those shoes for a while.
02:16Me and my partner had a baby in the last year.
02:18Congratulations.
02:19Thank you very much. I've not slept in a long time.
02:21You named him Hank or her?
02:22Yeah, we named him Kyle McLaughlin.
02:24Kyle McLaughlin.
02:25And while she was pregnant, we watched all of Desperate Housewives again.
02:28Oh, my gosh.
02:29And your character in that is so delicious.
02:30Why on earth?
02:31Because he's very likeable and then also, like, has this bite to him and this kind of passion.
02:35He doesn't know how to deal with his own emotions.
02:36Yeah.
02:37Hank seems a lot more calculating.
02:38Is that more fun to play in a way?
02:40Because he's kind of like almost a new character.
02:43Yeah, yeah.
02:44It's all about what you hide, what you don't see, what you don't show, you know.
02:48But it's also the side of Hank that people, I think, came to initially and love.
02:54He's still true.
02:55It's still who he is.
02:56And I think that adds to the sort of the audience isn't quite sure how to respond.
03:01Just as Lucy, Ella, who plays my daughter, she's not quite sure how to respond to Hank
03:06for what he's done.
03:07I mean, she recognizes it as something horrible and heinous.
03:10But at the same time, I'm her dad, you know.
03:13So she makes an effort to try to understand why I've done the things that I've done.
03:18And therein lies the interesting kind of back and forth between the two of us.
03:22Of course.
03:23There's something about you that you says.
03:24There's something underneath there.
03:25We don't know what it is.
03:26But the sheen is very lightable on the outside.
03:28I'm just a regular, innocent fella.
03:29What the hell?
03:30What else can you tell us about season two then?
03:33Season three's already on its way.
03:34Yeah, they bought season three.
03:35Yeah, I think they've just started to think about that.
03:39So bigger, louder, more explosive, more gory.
03:42We'll see.
03:43I don't know.
03:44I do know one thing.
03:45That they'll take their time and they'll create something really wonderful.
03:48They're very serious about it.
03:49They go in with great intentions.
03:51And I'm sure they're going to write characters that continue their journey in an interesting way.
03:57Well, hopefully you'll be along for the ride.
03:59Hopefully I will be.
04:00I'll be crossing my fingers for your survival.
04:02I bless your heart.
04:03Thank you so much.
04:04A pleasure.
04:05Great to see you, mate.
04:06Really nice to see you again.
04:07Congratulations on the young one.
04:08I hope he sleeps through the night one of these days or I'm going to kill myself.
04:11You'll get there.
04:12Eventually.
04:13Eventually.
04:14Thanks.
04:15Been there and know what you mean.
