00:00There have been a few, at least, legends in professional wrestling,
00:04but I would suggest none any more legendary than our current guest, Mr. Lou Thez.
00:10Lou, welcome to Tuesday Night Titans.
00:12Thank you very much, Vince. I'm really happy to be here. It's my privilege.
00:16Lou, your wrestling career spans an extraordinary number of years.
00:22When did you begin wrestling professionally?
00:24I started wrestling professionally in 1936.
00:28That's incredible.
00:30Several years ago.
00:31Several years ago, you looked like you could walk into the ring right now.
00:34You look in great shape.
00:35I still train, Vince, and I work out constantly,
00:37and I go to Japan and coach and wrestle in Mexico and pretty well around the world,
00:41and I still enjoy what I'm doing.
00:43Also, as I know for a fact, one of the most sought-after guest referees also.
00:50I enjoy that.
00:51Of course, having spent all these years, you know, 50 years as a professional wrestler in the thing,
00:55I should know a couple things about the rules.
00:57As a matter of fact, I even helped write a couple of them.
00:59I'm sure you did.
01:01Who do you feel were some of the more formidable opponents you've had through the years?
01:07Let's begin, if we may, back when you first started in professional wrestling.
01:11Well, when I first started, just prior to my getting into the professional ranks,
01:15I worked out with a fantastic wrestler, a man by the name of Ed Stranger Lewis,
01:18and I got a lesson real quick from him.
01:21You know, they told me that I wouldn't have any problem with him, but they lied to me.
01:27I had more than a problem, you know, but nevertheless, he ended up as my manager later,
01:31and my mentor and coach and a fantastic person.
01:34But there were many other great wrestlers down the pike.
01:37We had fellows like Jim Landis and Ray Steele.
01:40He helped me quite a lot.
01:42And John Pesick and many other really greats, and they devoted their entire lives to wrestling.
01:47That's all they did.
01:47Sure.
01:48And I mean seven days a week.
01:50And I guess when you get fairly good or better at a particular sport than most people,
01:55you devote most of your time to it.
01:57It's a labor of love is what it is.
