Europe needs its 'own plan' to end the war in Ukraine, Defence Commissioner Kubilius tells Euronews  Europe is once again scrambling to find a foothold in talks to end the war in Ukraine as Putin is set to meet US negotiators in Moscow. 00:18for us to have our own plan and then to

00:21compare with American plan to see what

00:24is good, what we want to discuss. We need

00:26to be more independent both in our

00:29defense capabilities but also in our

00:31geopolitical standing is coming. Recently a

00:36leaked peace plan between Washington and

00:38Moscow worried Ukrainians and Europeans as

00:41it appeared to favor Russia. Kibulius told

00:45Euronews that it's good Trump is taking

00:47the initiative and trying to bring peace

00:50but highlighted the importance of a just

00:52and long-term peace plan. Bad deal would

00:57be bad not only for Ukraine, it would be

00:58bad also for the whole Europe because

01:00definitely we need to understand and we

01:02need to take seriously what our

01:05intelligence services are saying that

01:07during next several years Russia can be

01:09ready to test Article 5. Last weekend

01:12European allies put forward a counter

01:14proposal that led Washington and Kyiv to

01:16create an updated and refined peace

01:19framework at a meeting in Geneva. This will

01:22be the basis for the talks between the US

01:24and Russia on Tuesday.
