00:55Kai came away with his third grade eight win of the season
00:58and extended his points lead.

01:51He's got a little bit of a lead, not much.

02:02We're here in Nevada at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
02:07This track opened its doors in 1972
02:10and it is 15 miles north of the Las Vegas Strip.
02:15It has been redesigned over the years
02:17and tonight it will host our eighth event
02:19of the grade eight series.
02:21Here's how it works.
02:22If you win the grade eight, you get 10 points.
02:24Plus, you also get $10,000.
02:27If you runner up, you get seven.
02:28And if you make it to the semifinals, you will get three.
02:31Those points go towards an individual championship
02:34that will be worth $100,000 at the end of the season.
02:39Kai Kelly's coming into the event with a commanding lead.
02:41But Giuseppe and Axeman are trying to catch up.

05:19A win in the grade eight, it would mean a lot.
05:21It would solidify our position.
05:23It would get us out of, I think, if we're in, like, fifth place and move us up to third
05:27or fourth and make the win for the grade eight championship a little more obtainable, and it
05:32would make me feel like I could actually reach it rather than just, you know, sitting on the
05:36bottom, like, oh, I'm never going to get there.

05:54We've been here many times before street racing, but not for no Prep Kings event.

05:59We're still on the West Coast, and we're struggling with keeping our motors alive.

10:45I got the win in grade 8 back in Kentucky, but since Kentucky, I've been struggling.
10:50Honestly, I'm just lucky to still be in the grade 8.

10:55It kind of felt like the other day when it laid down, but it was still pulling.
10:59It wasn't exactly like the other day.

11:01And this time when it kind of laid down a little, I said, let me just be safe.
11:04Hopefully, we can get this thing dialed in.
11:06I can get my confidence back and go some rounds and get another win.

12:49Going into it, I knew I had to cut a light and hold it to the floor because I knew his
12:53going to be fast and it just worked out for me, honestly.
12:57Like I say, me and Giuseppe, we're pretty tight.
12:59So, like I say, it's no fun beating somebody that's like a brother to you.
13:03But still, at the end of the day, I wanted that win.
13:05When we rolled in, we both wanted that same thing.

13:17Tried to shake the tires, and I had to lift, and he flew right by me.

13:20I think it made a couple hundred feet, 250, 300 feet.
13:23You've got to look at the car, see why it keeps shaking there.
13:25I mean, I know the track's a little tricky, a little different than what we're normally
13:28running on.
13:28So, go back, look at some data, and go from there.
13:33That time, usually, when I drive, I just relax and just, like I say, just enjoy the ride
13:39and feel the G's and concentrate on that.
13:41That time, I was concentrating on driving because I was waiting on it to break traction.
13:44I was going to have to turn, but it stayed planned.
13:46So, I had a motor fart, and, uh, over last week, fixed a few things, and we're back to
14:08having our oil leak that we had before.
14:11We just made our test pass.
14:12The car made a hell of a lick, but it sprayed oil everywhere.
14:16Um, we're fighting that same issue we had back in Tulsa, where it, um, was spraying a
14:22little bit, spraying a little bit, and then all of a sudden, we had a huge mess on our
14:24hand.
14:25Right now, we've got a huge mess on our hands.
14:27We tracked it down last time in the China Rail area, right through here, where that whole
14:32valley feels full of oil, and if you don't put the right gaskets or on it, it's going to
14:39blow out, so.
14:40All right, we're going to do the China Rail.

14:49We've been fighting this gremlin a little bit with the, over the last two races.
14:53You know, everybody thinks maybe the altitude's bothering us or something like that.
14:56We haven't even got, had a chance to make the car make a hit to adjust to the altitude.
15:00This is going to be a huge problem for us to make next round.
15:03I sent the tune-up over to Lee.
15:08I told him it felt like, kind of like a turd.
15:10I mean, it didn't feel like Denver, but, uh, you know, Damon's fast, and I told him I don't,
15:16I don't want to lose, so.
15:18He's going to look at it and see.
15:20I told him the plugs look pretty shiny, so should be able to put more in it, but we'll
15:24see what he says.
15:25Uh, first round, grade eight here in Vegas, we got Damon Merchant, our teammate.

15:33Um, obviously we hope that it's us.
15:35We're going to try and knock his head off, but, um, when we turn those lights on, we're
15:38not teammates anymore.

15:40Like, when I left in Denver, I was like, holy s**t, you know?
15:44It was starting to paddle the tires.
15:47Well, that's why I think, that's why I think we need to turn the tire pressure up, so it's
15:52up on top of the tire instead of paddling it like that.
15:55I think when the tire pressure's so low like that, it lets them, it sinks that tire down
15:59to the pavement instead of when you get up on the tires, when you go fast.

16:49But the China rails were leaking, too.
16:52We had a bolt come out from where the oil galley is.
16:55It sprayed oil everywhere.
16:55So, I think we got that fixed.
16:58But we've got to go rounds tonight.
17:00Because, you know, Kai's, you know, killing it in points right now on Friday night.

17:08We've got to do everything that we can, scratch and claw to get off our ass and get back into that running for, you know,

18:55Felt like we put in preventative maintenance, go over that thing with a fine-tube comb constantly,
19:00stay up late night, stay extra at the track, you know, it's just, heart failure's and it's kicking our ass right now.

19:12Man, we were kind of scared.
19:15Uh, my tuner's in bed already, because they were over on the East Coast, so it was two hours later there.
19:20I made the executive choice to leave the tune up in the car, it was a little hot.
19:24Uh, it left, it left with the tires way up in the air, and when they sat down, it launched me towards the left side,
19:30and I drove the center line the rest of the way.
19:32We're going on to the semi-finals, hopefully we get a car we can outrun, and we'll go from there.

19:40I'm not going to bull . I was a little scared myself.
19:48I don't know, it's hard to think about the grade 8.

19:57So I drew Murninova in the grade 8, first round.
19:59He's new to the grade 8, but lately his car's been getting fast.
20:02So I know he's not a duck, I know he's not a good draw.
20:05I think my car's faster than him.
20:07We just, we got to look at our tune up and make sure we know we put something there to go right down the racetrack,
20:14fast, without shaking, and all over the place.
20:16And that's what we've been doing all year, staying conservative, and it works.
20:19So that's what we're going to try.
20:21He's new to the grade 8.
20:23I'd like for him to do good.
20:24I like the guy, but I really want to just put him right back out, first round.

20:55He had some problems on the starting line, so I never got to see what I needed to be able to outrun him.

24:31Murder Nova able to take out points leader, Kai Kelly.
24:34This is Sean's first grade eight race, and he is already making waves.
24:38Now, the remaining drivers have the opportunity to make up some ground on Kai Kelly and close that gap.
24:45Honestly, that was best case scenario for all of us.

24:56Kai and Giuseppe are both knocked out, which is huge for us.
