A new stretched Tesla Model Y 7-seater version is reportedly coming soon, offering more cabin space and an extended wheelbase. It is expected to deliver around 630 km (391 miles) of driving range, making it one of the longest-range electric SUVs in its class. This upgraded Model Y will improve practicality for families and long-distance travel, and could become a major competitive option in the global EV market.

00:00The new seven-seat Tesla Model Y is a surprisingly good car for what it's estimated to cost. I think
00:07people are going to be really surprised by just how good it's actually going to be. Tesla are
00:12bringing out a seven-seat Model Y. Now this is not a, you know, a normal Model Y with seats just
00:19jammed into the back. This is actually going to be a proper three-row car. It's going to be based
00:24on the Model Y L, which is the extended wheelbase and the extended, the larger car. It's actually
00:32significantly longer than the regular Tesla Model Y. However, in China, you can get the Model Y L. It
00:39has six seats. The European version will be different and it's going to have seven seats
00:45plus some other changes to the car, which are quite interesting. The range, by the way,
00:50is even longer than the Chinese version at well over 600 kilometers. Pricing is going to be good
00:58too, guys. I mean, to be honest, I'm pretty excited. There's not a lot of EVs you can get with seven
01:03seats that are within the budget of the ordinary human being. They're mostly pretty expensive. So
01:09this is going to be a really good option. Hello, my friends. Welcome to the channel. I'm Sam Evans.
01:14You're watching the Electric Viking. Tesla Model Y, seven-seat version. We've just seen some news
01:22from Europe and the range is quite interesting. The range will be 629 kilometers WLTP. That's the
01:32tested range. So this car has already been tested in Europe and really cool that it's already been
01:37tested in Europe because that means that it's probably not that far away from actually going on
01:42sale. So does this mean that other countries will get access to this car outside of Europe?
01:47Absolutely. There's going to be Australia and other places, New Zealand and markets like Thailand and
01:53Malaysia, the UK, for example, as well. You guys will get a seven-seat version of the Model Y. You
01:59guys in the United States are definitely going to get a version of the Model Y that's got three rows.
02:03Don't know if it's a six-seat version or the seven-seat version, but it will come. It's just going to take
02:07some time because obviously Tesla is more focused on artificial intelligence and robots and
02:13full self-driving than it is on cars these days. At least I think so anyway. YouTube's new algorithm
02:18means that you're often not getting all of our videos in your feed. There's 7,500. I'm pretty sure
02:23you're probably not seeing a lot of them. In the description, there is a link to our newsletter.
02:28Click on that and you can get an update every day of all the latest news in the electric car
02:33industry. So what do we know about it? Well, it's all-wheel drive. It's not rear-wheel drive.
02:38Model Y long-range all-wheel drive, 629 kilometers of range, WLTP. Now, we know that this car is coming
02:46because a European regulatory data expert called E. Ivisia on X shared the variant of the Model Y
02:55highlighting the key details. So you can see they've posted here the powertrain, the fact that it's got
03:00seven seats, that it's going to probably be built in Europe. So at the factory in Berlin in Germany.
03:07In addition to that very smart decision from Tesla, it's going to use 19-inch wheels, which is what
03:12enables it to get this kind of range, 629 kilometers. Also going to have a bigger battery. So I think it's
03:17going to be the 82.5 kilowatt hour battery, NMC battery, not lithium-ion phosphate. In China, the Model Y L,
03:25the long-range, it costs about 10% more than the standard two-row vehicle. So the five-seater,
03:31it's about 10% more expensive, but it's got a lot of added features that the Model Y doesn't get.
03:38It's got two captain's chairs in the middle row. It's also got a larger screen, 16-inch screen.
03:45It's got different suspension. I believe it's got the actual adjustable suspension that comes in the
03:50Tesla Model Y Performance. And it's got adjustable headrests. It's got retractable armrests as well.
03:57They can be controlled with the rear seat screen or a button to the side of the seat cushion. So
04:02it's getting a lot of stuff that the normal car doesn't get. The third row gets two seats and
04:07cup holders on either side, making it a pretty decent amount of space for third row passengers.
04:13And this car actually, I think it's quite good. Now, the second and third row seats in the Model Y L
04:19can be pretty easily folded down. And when you fold those seats down, you get 2,500 liters of storage
04:24space. So that means that because this car is bigger than the standard version, it actually gets
04:31about 700 liters of additional space on the inside. It's quite a lot. Of course, the reason for that is
04:39because of its extended wheelbase. So the car is actually 186 millimeters longer. So nearly eight
04:49inches longer than a standard Model Y. The top, the car's total length is 4.96 meters. That means
04:56it's actually technically a large size vehicle. It's no longer a medium sized car. It's technically
05:01in the large size class of vehicle in most countries. Interestingly, I mean, obviously there's
05:07plenty of naysayers, you know who they are, saying this car is too small. It's compromised. It shouldn't
05:12have three rows of seats, which is insane because those same publications say that the Mitsubishi
05:19Outlander, which is literally 4.6 meters long, which is 400 millimeters shorter. Yeah. I mean,
05:28that's 15.8 inches shorter. They're saying, oh, great, great car. It's seven seats, got three rows.
05:35Fantastic. Even though it's not an EV, it's a plug-in hybrid and it's ancient technology. Now,
05:40this is an ancient technology. It's got fantastic range. It's got good charging speed, not world-class
05:46beating, but 250 kilowatt charging speed. And it's got really good class-leading efficiency as well.
05:53In China, CLTC range is 751 kilometers. So yeah, it's going to get at least 600 kilometers of range.
06:04Like I think the testing is saying, they've tested this in Europe and it's getting 600,
06:09just over 620 kilometers. So that's about 400 miles of range. That's pretty damn good for a
06:16three-row vehicle. That's relatively affordable. Speaking of affordable, how much is it? It's
06:21probably going to be about 10% more expensive based on China than the standard Model Y, the Model Y
06:27long range. So 10% more expensive. That's the price difference in China, which means it's going to be
06:33pretty affordable. So in China, you can already buy this car. And on the first day it went on sale,
06:40they actually got 40,000 pre-orders. 40,000 in a country where there's heaps of affordable
06:46seven-seat cars, heaps of them, heaps of affordable seven-seat EVs. There's not many outside of China,
06:52unfortunately, but in China there is. So it's selling really well in China, but I think this will
06:57sell much better in outside of China, in the United States, in Europe, in Australia, Southeast Asia.
07:03And the reason is because there's not that many rivals in this price segment. What do you guys
07:09think? Are you equally bullish or are you equally positive about this car? I think we need affordable,
07:15relatively affordable seven-seat EVs. And if this is one of them, then hell, I'm all for it. Bring it on.
07:21Thanks for watching.
07:27Bye.
