00:00Alina Haber, the Iraqi American and one of the most prominent legal figures close to the US
00:07president, now finds herself at the center of a judicial decision that challenges the legitimacy
00:14of one of the key positions she held in his administration. The court ruled that Haber's
00:20appointment as acting US attorney in New Jersey was illegal, and she was therefore removed from
00:26overseeing any case related to that position. This ruling confirms an earlier decision issued last
00:33August, which stated that Trump violated the Federal Vacancies Reform Act when he appointed
00:39Haber to the position without following the recognized constitutional procedures.
00:45The law requires either Senate approval for the appointment or selection through federal
00:50district court judges, neither of which occurred in Haber's case.
