Ahead of Navy Day 2025, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi addresses the annual press conference in New Delhi. He confirms the signing of the contract for 26 Rafale Marine aircraft on April 25, 2025, with the first batch expected in 2029. The Navy Chief highlights the success of Operation Sindoor and the Swavlamban 4.0 seminar held in November. He also notes the induction of Agniweers from 673 districts and the commissioning of the National Maritime Domain Awareness (NMDA) project.
00:00We were happy to sign the contract for 26th Rafal Aircraft on 25th of April.
00:08This contract includes performance based logistics for 5 years and we hope to get the first set of oar in 2029.
00:21We also signed the contract for the NMDA National Minitime Domain Awareness Project.
00:26We are very proud of it. Also commissioned the base depot ship Aravali.
00:32Combined, both of them will aggregate data from 7 ministries and 15 national agencies.
00:40And that will be utilized not only by the Navy but anybody who wants to use it.
00:46As to what is happening in the maritime domain.
00:51We take great pride in the leaders, in being the leader in Aad Narghartha and self-reliance.
00:58Navy has always been. Therefore, the next segment I want to highlight is technology in induction and self-reliance.
01:07We had set up the NIIO and TDAC, the two organizations in 2021.
01:16Both of them are working very closely with the defense innovation organization under DDP.
01:24We conducted Svoblamban 4.0, the fourth edition of Svoblamban, just a few days back, 25th and 26th November.
01:35It was very well received. Great participation from our industry, from our youngsters with vision in their eyes to do something for the country.
01:45And it was very, very highly appreciated by our chief guest, Honorable Raksha Madri.
01:54You would be happy to know that out of 565 IDEX challenges announced so far across the security domain, not only limited to Navy, Army, Air Force,
02:0735% are owned by Indian Navy. That is 198 out of 565.
02:17The DIO has committed more than 1,100 crores for development of prototype of our systems
02:24and has already dispersed more than 400 crores into the defense ecosystem of the country.
02:33We have also achieved 28 acceptance of necessity for 2,700 crores and 16 procurement orders exceeding 1,400 crores have been placed.
02:48All these I am talking about is the IDEX schemes.
02:54This year, we also set up our Indian Navy Incubation Center for Artificial Intelligence, INIKAI, at Bengaluru.
03:05And the center is already doing around 45 use cases in operation, administration, in logistics to help us to do better.
03:17Coming to join-ness and integration, we have been in the forefront of this join-ness and integration.
03:26As you are aware, the country's first joint command, the Andaman Nicole command was a step-up from what we used to call 410 in Port Blair.
03:44But more importantly, I think in operation, the synergy demonstrated during Office Indoor between the three services and other agencies was very heartening.
03:57From technical level to operational level and beyond, I think all of us were on the same page.
04:06That speaks very highly about the leadership.
04:11We also conducted the Tri-Services exercise Trishul, which some of you covered in early November of the coast of Gujarat with Navy as the lead service.
04:27We undertook joint effect-based operations, both on land and at sea, in a multi-domain environment.
04:39Much has been written about it.
04:42Going forward, we aim, as we move towards the theatrization, we aim to have unified planning, common operational picture and integrated operations.
04:59So that is our aim.
05:04We have also moved forward in the spheres of joint doctrines, joint logistic nodes, integrated maintenance working groups on various systems and equipment,
05:16and joint services study groups to address the issues which are being faced by services.
05:24Coming to the all-important HR aspects, we believe that our personnel remain the core during our strategic and operational objectives.
05:41We want to create resilient individuals, physically, mentally and spiritually, so that they can withstand the pressures of daily life and operate and lead with clarity in an environment of relentless pace,
06:06rapid technological changes and constant information noise.
06:16Coming to Agni Veers, we are very happy to report that we have inducted Agni Veers from 673 districts out of 806 districts across India.
06:31And we believe that we can go further and that is what we are going to do.
06:38And therefore, our workforce actually represents the microcosm of the country.
06:46We have been practicing and we do believe in gender neutral force.
06:52Navika Sagar Parikrama was one example.
06:57We have commenced induction of women pilots in fighter and helicopter streams.
07:07And we have started using gender neutral language in the country, in the service.
07:14The Navy takes great pride in being a learning organization that we learn not only from ours what we do but also from what others are doing.
07:27And therefore, we continuously aim to refine our concepts and doctrines.
07:33And later today, we will be releasing our new version of Indian Navy maritime doctrine.
07:46Similarly, later, sometimes, maybe early next year, we will release the strategy doctrine.
07:55So, ladies and gentlemen, as you are aware, we stand as a country defining moment in our national journey towards becoming a Vixit Bharat.
08:20And as you also aware, that with our economy advancing steadily and confidently, it is clear that the seas or oceans, which are our highways for trade, connectivity and energy security, will continue to shape the trajectory of this growth.
08:43There is no doubt about it. The geography says it all.
08:48As prime manifestation of India's maritime power, Indian Navy, your Navy, every Indian's Navy, remains steadfast in promoting and protecting our national maritime interests.
09:09We remain committed to ensuring every sea lane critical to our national prosperity remains safe and secure at all times.
09:24And therefore, guided by these strategic realities that I have enunciated, this year's Navy Day theme, we have chosen compatibility, cohesive, Aatma river, Navy, safeguarding national maritime interests, anytime, anywhere, anyhow.
09:45So, thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for your patient listening.
09:52Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
09:53And I am sure you would have many questions.
09:57But happy Navy Day once again in advance to all of you and to all our countrymen.
10:02We will take the questions now. I am told there is a two-minute break.
10:07Two-minute break. All those who have raised their hands, just aap-thak jayenge.
