00:00So here we have a question about Sudarshan.
00:03So, Sudarshan has been working on the Marini Vishal.
00:05We have been working on the Marini Vishal.
00:10First, introduce yourself.
00:12I am Sudarshan. I am basically from Chennai.
00:15I have come to Hyderabad for work purpose.
00:17So, horse riding has been one of my childhood dreams.
00:20And thanks to Vivek sir,
00:23I could finally materialize my dreams,
00:25give ambition, give fruition to my dreams.
00:29Is it just a hobby or you would want to take power?
00:33It's a hobby as of now. I am just a beginner as of now.
00:36But I want to go down the line, be consistent
00:39and then take part in competitions and all that.
00:41So earlier, did you ride any horse here in Chennai?
00:44No, this is my first month I am ever on a horse.
00:47This is the first time.
00:49So, how did you find this place?
00:51Through a contact, through a network person.
00:53So, one of my contacts he had in his DP,
00:56his picture of him on a horse.
00:58Then I called him and I said,
01:00Okay, looks like you are into horse riding.
01:01So, can you give me any reference from where, which club?
01:04So, then he gave Mr. Vivek's reference.
01:06Okay. You got to know this from a friend, right?
01:08Yeah, correct.
01:09Okay. So, how is the experience over here?
01:11The facility is maintained well.
01:14It is quite expansive.
01:15A lot of greenery in a natural setting.
01:17So, it is a good break to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city life with all the traffic and all.
01:23And the trainers are also very cordial outside the arena, but inside they are very tough.
01:29So, that is how coaches should be.
01:31So, they really make you work hard and then follow the instructions so that you improve your skill quickly and in the correct technique.
01:41So, the trainers are strict in the arena as they are supposed to be.
01:45Mr. Vivek also is very, very genial.
01:48See, somebody who has retired from the military and then they could have simply taken their pension and then sat at home or do something else.
01:55But still he has the passion with horses and that is the reason why he has bought around 20-21 horses.
02:01And then to maintain these horses, to feed them, to hire a trainer and then coach, train the trainer also, it is not that easy.
02:09And then the horses, obviously, you need to take, they need to, he needs to take care of the horses, the health, the fitness.
02:15Horses, obviously, they won't say openly, right?
02:18So, he has to look for symptoms of why the horses behave in a particular way and then take them to a veterinarian or something.
02:24So, that really talks about Mr. Vivek's passion also for the horses.
02:27Since how long have you been here?
02:29This is my, in 2nd November, I started my first class.
02:33So, I am still into my first month only.
02:35I come only on weekends, not every day.
02:37Weekends?
02:38Weekends only.
02:39How about the horses?
02:40Like, you mingle, how do you mingle with the horses?
02:43I, whichever horses, the trainers assigned to me, I ride on those horses.
02:47Okay.
02:48Yeah.
02:49So, what have you learnt still now?
02:50Till now, I have learnt walk, fast walk and trotting.
02:54Okay.
02:55And then hopefully, trotting, I feel I have been improving over the last 2-3 weekends.
03:01And the next class, maybe they will put me on canter.
03:04Okay.
03:05In a country like India, where cricket, badminton, tennis are the most watched sports, you know.
03:11Like, how do you see this sport?
03:13See, this is a very unique sport.
03:15It's not a team sport.
03:16In a way, it's a team sport because you and the horse are a team.
03:19Okay.
03:20So, the horse is your teammate.
03:21So, you need to really have that rapport with the horse.
03:24Compared to cricket and all, this is, I feel this is more expensive.
03:27Because cricket, you know, 10 people can pull together money and then buy a bat or ball.
03:31But here, you need to spend separately.
03:34So, in a way, it's slightly an elite sport because not all people can afford this sort of horse trading.
03:40But then, yes, otherwise, it improves your stamina as a rider because you need to match up with the speed of the horse.
03:47And then, so that, you need to keep bouncing up and down, up and down.
03:50So, that improves your stamina, your own physical fitness.
03:53So, horse riding as a sport, I think it's a good sport to have.
03:56I wish, I am a student now in school.
03:59Like, many of the schools, they have introduced horse riding also as part of the school curriculum.
04:03And I wish it was there when I was a school student.
04:06But yeah, better late than never.
04:08So, like, in this, you know, in this country, horse riding.
04:14Very few people take this as a career or sport, whatever.
04:20And how do you see these kids?
04:22I mean, do you have any confidence like they're turning out to be superstars in the future?
04:28They have passion for the sport.
04:30And I heard some of them actually fell down, had a fracture also.
04:34Despite that, they are still continuing with the sport.
04:37So, which talks about their passion.
04:39So, I honestly don't know whether horse riding can be a profession, a full-time career by itself.
04:45If that is because these jockeys and all, so they, once you win the competitions, then they win good money.
04:51But then, I don't know whether the parents, right now, they're all in 7th, 8th grade and all.
04:56Once they reach 10th grade, whether the parents will allow them to do that.
04:59If they do that, because typically in India, it happens.
05:02Once you reach 10th grade, then they feel 10th grade is very most important, 12th is most important.
05:07If there is no family pressure, so these kids can go on to have horse riding as a career.
05:13And from this stage, what would you want to actually ask the government?
05:17Government. Government, they should probably tie up with some horse riding schools and then allocate some land in the heart of the city.
05:26Not many people can come to the outkirts like this.
05:28So, if they can allocate some land in the heart of the city and which can be shared by all the schools.
05:33So, they can give some slots, 8 to 9 for this school, 9 to 10 for some other schools.
05:37So, if they can allocate like that and then assign slots to the schools, that will help spread the sport.
05:42But again, as I said, it's a slightly expensive sport as of now.
05:46I don't know how many middle class parents can afford.
05:48But if the government can build this infrastructure in the heart of the city, yeah, definitely there will be a lot of interest.
05:55There will be growing interest in the whole sports.
05:57Finally, what message would you like to send to the youth regarding this sport?
06:03If you really like this, initially it will be scary because you are sitting on almost a 5 and 6 foot animal.
06:11But then once you get used to it, you will never want to get down at all.
06:17Thank you. Thank you so much.
06:30Thank you very much.
07:00Thank you very much.
