00:00Five-star means you are the best of the best.
00:16There's no more glorified title you can get.
00:20Five-stars are like the rarest of the rare.
00:23They are also 30 times more likely to be a draft pick than all the other recruits.
00:28Touchdown. My goodness gracious.
00:31He's built like a dude. He moves like a dude.
00:33And whenever he plays, the competition doesn't look adequate for him.
00:39Oh, my. Cuts it up. He's got some speed.
00:42Delivers downfield. He's got a man out there. Into the end zone. Touchdown.
00:46If you're one of the true Tiffany programs of college football,
00:49you need to be signing the very best players out there.
00:52You're talking like the top 32 of thousands of guys who are going to go play D1 ball.
00:56You have the money coming in from the university and then all of the extra funds coming in from endorsements off the field.
01:04These kids can be making millions of dollars.
01:07So the expectations are high as high can be.
01:12The defending Big Ten champion, Oregon Ducks.
01:16The Big Ten is as good as it gets right now.
01:18The last two national championships have come out of this conference and there's great players.
01:23My name is Devin Sanchez.
01:28I'm Corey Moore.
01:28I'm Alakai Goodman.
01:29I'm Brace Underwood.
01:30I'm Corey Redford University of Michigan.
01:32No!
01:33Go get him, Jay.
01:33No!
01:34Here he comes.
01:36Arguably the most recruited player in the nation.
01:38And to Corey Moore with a catch.
01:40Are you kidding me?
01:42Touchdown!
01:43People around the program are hyping him up to the degree of one of the best Oregon players in program history.
01:47The most star-studded Oregon wide receiver ever.
01:51He just got an award for best strength.
01:54Talk about highly touted.
01:56Devin Sanchez, the five-star corner, number one corner in the class of 2025.
02:02Being at the number one school in the nation, it's amazing.
02:06It's also hard at the same time.
02:08You've got a few people hitting you, but every position is up for grabs.
02:12Everyone I've talked to by my Alakai Goodman has been really excited.
02:15Absolutely incredible specimen from what I've seen, and just physical stature.
02:19Five-star status, they think he can be an early, early draft pick.
02:23If he works like he's supposed to, he'll be drafted in the first round.
02:25Go!
02:26I need to outwork the people that aren't in front of me right now.
02:29I just got to keep going.
02:30Bryce Underwood, a guy with some special talent.
02:32Michigan did bring in the number one overall player in a 2025 high school class in quarterback Bryce Underwood.
02:40Touchdown, Wolverines!
02:41The athleticism and the arm are just special.
02:44That kid's got it.
02:47Hell yes!
02:49We are back!
02:50He's the chosen one for the Wolverines.
02:52This is wild!
02:53I love competing.
02:55No matter what, I'll go compete.
02:57We are pretty sure he'll be the week one starter.
03:00When you're a five-star and you step on campus, you're seen as somebody who needs to make a difference immediately.
03:12My expectations for this season, we need to be a freshman All-American.
03:16It's college.
03:18It's not high school anymore, so now it's time to step it up.
03:24Go!
03:24I think there's an ungodly amount of pressure that's on these guys to perform at a really high level.
03:29Hey, help me out with the new players today.
03:30It's hard to be able to make an impact as a freshman, but if you're ready and you're good enough, you can do that.
03:37DeCorey Moore, touchdown, Oregon!
03:39I love that guy, man!
03:41Five-star guys are the best of the best, and when you get to college, it's like, you've got to live up to it.
03:45Just how good can Michigan be going into the 2025 season?
04:08Couldn't throw the ball any worse than they did last year.
04:10Now, in the class of 2025, the number one overall player is the quarterback who's now going to Michigan.
04:20A lot of people want to see Bryce Underwood be the QB1 out there.
04:23Who takes over as Michigan starting quarterback?
04:26I have no idea.
04:28Bryce Underwood.
04:29I'm from the east side of Detroit, Michigan.
04:3118 years old.
04:34Oh, man, I'll fire it up.
04:37Wow.
04:40Being a hometown hero was always a dream, no matter if it's in NFL or college, so I ended up being in college.
04:48The goal, at the end of the day, is to be a Hall of Famer in NFL.
04:51Whatever that takes, whatever I've got to go through to get there, I've been getting prepared for it my entire life.
05:00People don't understand how much pressure this is.
05:02He can say what he want.
05:03Yeah.
05:03You know what I mean?
05:04He can say what he want.
05:04Oh, I don't have no pressure.
05:05Yeah.
05:05Bullshit.
05:06You know what I mean?
05:07You've got to play in front of 100,000 with expectations, and they don't want to hear you young.
05:12They don't even care.
05:13They don't give a shit.
05:14They don't care about that.
05:15Win.
05:19I'm curious to see this, though.
05:21This is what I'm curious to see.
05:22I want to see when shit go bad, that rollercoaster ride.
05:27But, like, this is atmosphere.
05:30This is where he belongs, like, the team just respond to him differently.
05:35You know what I'm saying?
05:36Like, from the work that he's just been putting in, they just, it's a different feel when he out there.
05:43He put on your slippers.
05:45So he run the house.
05:47That's a lot.
05:47He run the house.
05:48He run the house now.
05:50No.
05:50Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, take out the trash.
05:54No, he's still a puppy, man.
05:55He's still a puppy.
05:57When he walked through the door, I still see him as a five- or six-year-old kid, and I have to look again, like, hold up.
06:03Yeah, yeah, yeah.
06:05You got facial hair.
06:05Yeah, like, what's going on?
06:07Yeah, it's McDonald's.
06:08I do, and it smells wonderful.
06:25Hold on, you smell like me.
06:38All of this just seems like yesterday.
06:41This is so, so crazy.
06:44So crazy.
06:47I think this is my favorite game.
06:50Bryce was, like, five-ish.
06:53He was in the yard, just playing catch.
06:57And just to see him just trying to throw it, it felt like it was something extra there.
07:03He had no hair.
07:06Nothing, nothing kid.
07:08I did not want to play football.
07:10Ain't nobody hit Mikey yet.
07:13But he was seven years old, and he first put on that mace uniform, number 19.
07:19He had the wing helmet.
07:21I just knew that was it for him.
07:25I played for the Motor City Wolverines in Little League, and I started liking it a lot.
07:31Then my competitiveness kick in, and then I took it more serious after that, so.
07:36He would get up on his own and go work out maybe two or three times a day.
07:42Nobody had to say, go do that.
07:44No, he wanted to.
07:45He's telling us what he's about to get ready to go do.
07:47I was like, oh, this boy really wants it.
07:49This is the game right here, bro.
07:51Cass vs. Belleville.
07:54Oh, yeah.
07:55I went to Belleville High School.
08:05My freshman year was the first state championship of history in Belleville.
08:09On the field, he's a commander, a monster, a beast.
08:18Underwood with the keeper.
08:19He drives the left side.
08:20First down and more.
08:25He's so laser focused.
08:27He's completely tuned in with the game, and honestly, at times, I don't recognize my own
08:32son.
08:32He definitely turns into a different person on the field.
08:42The scouting report on Bryce Underwood is this is a dude.
08:45As big and fast as he is, how well he throws the ball, I think he's pretty clean mechanically.
08:50Yeah, this dude's a freak.
08:51I was trying to find out, what team will you be playing with this year?
08:59I'm going to bring my talent to the Michigan Wolverines.
09:04UofL was one of the schools that was on our top list.
09:09I got a phone call when he was 15, maybe 16, from UofL.
09:14They let me know that we are interested in your son, but we found another quarterback.
09:20Go.
09:22They said that he's a better candidate than Bryce, and this is the guy that they're going
09:28to be pursuing.
09:29This is when Jim Harbaugh was still coach.
09:33And when he heard that, it hurt him.
09:36It hurt his feelings.
09:37He put his head down a little bit about it.
09:40They're like, Dad, where I'm going to go?
09:41January 6th, 2024 is when I committed to LSU.
09:58We enjoyed the atmosphere.
10:02We enjoyed everything about it.
10:05As we come down to the stretch, there's still business pieces that needs to be taken care
10:10of.
10:10And just like a lot of business, you know, some people can't meet these expectations.
10:16Right?
10:18Back, in comes UofL.
10:20The inevitable becoming official on Saturday morning as Sharon Moore was introduced as
10:26Michigan's new head coach.
10:27The 37-year-old Moore has been on staff since 2018, serving as OC the past three seasons.
10:33Always a player favorite.
10:34Moore is now the man at Michigan.
10:37I've known Bryce for a very long time, even when I wasn't the head coach.
10:41And there was always some kind of a connection there between him and I and some of the staff
10:46members.
10:47As we got through the season, we'd always talk and really just put a stamp on the fact
10:51that, hey, we need to do whatever we can and recruit this kid.
10:55Michigan, when you look at the struggles they've had this season, you're talking about a team
11:00that's outside the top 100 in the FBS in passing grade, pass blocking grade, and receiving grade.
11:06They just never had a plan on offense after all of the talent they lost last year.
11:11I remember sitting in my office, just me and him.
11:15I said, I'm not letting you leave the state.
11:17Like, I'm not letting any great player leave the state anymore.
11:21And then I took it back to who you, you know, what's your why?
11:26He's from 20 minutes down the road and his wife's parents and his little sister.
11:31And we just talked about how great it would be that you would be able to play in front
11:35of them every weekend and be around them at any point.
11:38Oh, well, let me get a picture.
11:39Graduate!
11:39Through everything, it's only been those three.
11:44I'm a hometown kid, of course.
11:47So, me and my family came to a decision to settle down and come to the University of Michigan.
11:54Good evening, y'all.
11:56Good evening, y'all.
11:58So, first, I want to say thank you as well for everybody coming out from however far you guys can.
12:03Just come watching me and my guys sign our letters to our next level.
12:08Bryce Underwood is a Michigan Wolverine.
12:14In your face, all the haters and the losers.
12:18After months of rumors that Michigan is making a godfather-type offer, he flips.
12:23And this is a guy that Michigan spent a lot of money to flip his recruitment from LSU.
12:29They had to lay out a plan to get Bryce to come to Michigan.
12:32And, of course, part of that plan was the massive NIL package.
12:35This could be considered the biggest recruit in the history of Michigan football.
12:39Michigan apparently offered $12 million over four years, double what LSU was offering.
12:45Really big money starts getting thrown around here.
12:47Why did they do that?
12:49Look at him.
12:50That kid's got it.
12:53I've been waiting for this moment since I was six, seven years old.
12:57It's like, this is what you've been asking for your whole life.
13:01Woo!
13:04With this highly touted of a recruit, this is going to be like a quarterback that's going to go in
13:08with maybe as much pressure as like an Arch Manning, as a Trevor Lawrence going to Clemson,
13:13maybe even more so.
13:14He flips some LSU to Michigan.
13:17Is he the future of Michigan?
13:19If he's not performing well, people are going to talk bad about it.
13:22Not just because, oh, well, the guy's not playing well, but because they've committed millions
13:26for him to show up and deliver wins and deliver national championships.
13:31I mean, you talk about pressure.
13:32An 18-year-old kid?
13:35Who's going to be named Michigan starter?
13:37Like, there's about 10 million reasons a part of this decision.
13:40The Oregon Ducks, they were 13-0.
13:52They were number one in the country.
13:53Big 10 champs in year one of the conference.
13:56And then...
13:56There is Smith, running free, makes a tackle!
14:01Ohio State strikes quickly!
14:03Off the bank, down the middle!
14:06Caught in stride!
14:07A Buka touchdown!
14:09They show up to the Rose Bowl.
14:11A couple of 40-plus yard touchdowns had that thing over quickly.
14:16Dan Landon could not have seen his knockout coming.
14:19So now we've got an Oregon team that has lost a program record number of NFL draft picks.
14:27I'm not sitting here and saying, like, oh my gosh, they're doomed.
14:30They have NFL guys in multiple positions.
14:32It's just, is it going to click fast enough?
14:34I'm excited.
14:35New team, new challenges, new venues that we're going to get to go play in.
14:39It's going to be a lot of fun.
14:41The thing you don't know is probably what excites me the most.
14:43You know, what are the things that we're going to have to adapt to?
14:45What are the adjustments we'll make?
14:47Who will become the players that we think they can become?
14:50Who else do you think really might be bursting onto the scene
14:53with a lot of opportunities, snaps, and reps that are up for grabs?
14:57DeCorey Moore is an exciting watch.
14:59I'm here for it.
15:01There's no projection.
15:02There's no, I think, the guy is absolutely awesome.
15:10The DeCorey Moore has been a guy we've recruited
15:21since his freshman year in high school.
15:23Probably what made me fall in love with him,
15:25you know, we had what we call Saturday Night Live,
15:28and it was a camp in the summer, and he came two years in a row,
15:31and he took every single rep.
15:33He'd play every single down.
15:34He'd competed, whereas some of these guys,
15:36when they reach some accolades,
15:38they want to come and watch other people perform at camp.
15:40But if you're a real dog, like, you go out there and fight.
15:43And DeCorey Moore was running every route
15:45like it was the most important route of his life.
15:48When he steps on the field, you see him do some different things,
15:50and you're like, okay, that's different.
15:52Boom.
15:55If I've got DeCorey Moore,
15:57I'm just trying to get him the ball
15:58until everybody else either block or get the hell out of the way.
16:02I mean, this is a guy that can take a five-yard hitch,
16:0595 yards on any given play.
16:08Everyone who we recruit and bring into this program,
16:11we believe, could play in the National Football League one day.
16:13Otherwise, we wouldn't recruit them.
16:15So if he continues to come into building every single day,
16:18work to be the best version of himself,
16:19I don't think it's a similar form.
16:21It'll kind of be whatever he wants to make of the situation.
16:25It's hard to be able to make an impact as a freshman.
16:27It certainly has what to do with what else is on the team,
16:30where else are there great players.
16:31And we'll see, right?
16:34It's a work in progress.
16:37You have to remember,
16:38seeing a wide receiver come in as a true freshman
16:40and have immediate impact
16:43isn't something that's very common.
16:46When you're a five-star and you play high school football,
16:49it's like going for a brisk walk.
16:52Going to college is like climbing Mount Everest.
16:54We forget.
16:55They're 18 years old.
16:57You need months of preparation.
16:58You have to be physically ready, mentally ready.
17:02Expectations are incredibly high for him.
17:04It's a tough job to walk into.
17:06Whenever that number is called,
17:08you better be ready.
17:15How don't you know you have a camera right now?
17:18No, not like on camera,
17:20but like they can hear you.
17:22Oh.
17:24Hi, everybody.
17:28You're hilarious.
17:32Mark?
17:37I feel like I was at a movie.
17:38Yeah, we're good.
17:41Nicoria Moore, wide receiver
17:42at the University of Oregon.
17:45You're actually put together right now.
17:47Me, on the other hand,
17:49you know, a little rusty straight off the field.
17:52I got homesick when I first got here,
17:54being that I'm not out here with family
17:56and stuff like that.
17:57I was out here by myself.
17:59You know, like my mom wasn't telling me what to do
18:01or telling me,
18:02you can and can't do this, you know?
18:04Like, so just like getting used to that
18:06was kind of like hard to, you know, deal with.
18:12Bro, yes, bro.
18:13Why you like, dang, bro?
18:16No, I did.
18:18I swear I did.
18:19My room clean.
18:20I just, I just got to...
18:22Mom, my room is clean.
18:28This is all my hanging clothes.
18:30I'm just putting them up.
18:31I grew up in Dallas, Texas.
18:34I'm more on a cliffside kind of project,
18:36sort of hood side.
18:37I grew up tough just because, like,
18:40where I was from and stuff like that.
18:41My dad passed away when I was, like, one.
18:45I mean, of course, like, it was hard.
18:47Definitely hard for my mom,
18:49but that's the reason our bond is as close as it is today,
18:51you know, because what she went through,
18:53I tried to, you know, get her out of that.
18:55Oregon work again, or should I use a new team?
18:58Every time you play with Oregon, you lose.
19:00Okay.
19:01I think we should test that theory today.
19:03Okay.
19:04Bad.
19:06They ain't put my physicals on there and stuff like that.
19:08It's okay, though.
19:10We're going to wait on an update after a couple games.
19:14I started tracking football around four or five.
19:18Growing up, I was just, like, so fast
19:19and bigger than most of the kids my age,
19:21so it was kind of, like, easy to go out there
19:23and just, you know, dominate.
19:26I knew he was a little something different,
19:28probably around five.
19:31He would run from whoopings,
19:33and I couldn't catch him.
19:35And I'm pretty fast myself,
19:37and so I would have to pin him in a corner.
19:40He would do these juke moves on me.
19:42That's how I knew he was a little something special.
19:49Going into high school,
19:50first day I stepped on campus,
19:52it put me on varsity, you know,
19:53trying to see what I can do.
19:54They put me out there in that water,
19:56and I swam.
19:58I had a lot of attention through all of high school,
20:23because I was always ranked the number one receiver
20:25in my class, going to all these camps.
20:27Me and my mom bond got way closer
20:43when it came to, like, the recruitment process
20:45and all these agents trying to, like,
20:48get in contact with me and stuff like that.
20:49We started, like, trying to navigate it together.
20:51Because, you know, it's a lot of bad things
20:53that happen out here,
20:53so we ain't want to, you know,
20:55just hop into something that, you know,
20:56we ain't know about.
20:57The number one wide receiver in the class,
21:00Decorion Moore, from Texas,
21:03but committed to LSU.
21:06He was previously committed to LSU.
21:08The only thing that I wanted him to do when he committed early
21:12is to keep your options open.
21:15He didn't really know what he was going on college campuses looking for.
21:19He didn't know what major he wanted.
21:21He didn't know where he saw himself in the future besides football.
21:24The decision was hard because he knew that that was a school
21:29that he really wanted to go to.
21:30It was one of his dream schools,
21:32but it was some things that wasn't making him happy about it.
21:36The relationship with the head coach is what he wasn't happy about.
21:40He felt like a lot of the other schools
21:41that were heavily interested in him,
21:43he had a great relationship with the head coaches.
21:47I don't really think, you know, it's the best look,
21:49you know, when you commit to a school, decommit,
21:51but sometimes it just takes time to realize, you know,
21:55where your heart really at with it.
21:57There you are.
22:01How'd I get one of these?
22:04When I thought of Oregon, you know,
22:06first thing I was looking at, who was my coach going to be?
22:09You know, I have Coach Landon,
22:10and I feel like he's one of the best coaches,
22:12if not the best coach.
22:14He felt like I could be one of the greatest of all time.
22:17And when he told me that, it was just like,
22:20yeah, I feel like this is the dude I want to,
22:24he didn't want to coach me for the next three to four years.
22:29Even though Oregon is 2,000 miles away,
22:33they made me feel more comfortable with him going far away
22:36than some of the places that were down the street.
22:40The pace of football, I'm definitely still adjusting to that,
22:43because it moves, like, way faster than I'm used to.
22:46But I'm here to play football.
22:48I'm here to, you know, make that name for myself,
22:50and I feel like the only person who can stop me is myself.
22:54That's just how I carry myself in general,
22:56if I'm being honest.
22:58Oh, my God.
22:59Chill out, fool.
23:00Oh, no.
23:01No.
23:02Go get him, Taylor.
23:02No.
23:04I wasn't paying attention, bro.
23:06Wait, no, no, no, no.
23:08I was not paying attention, bro.
23:10One, two, boogie and shorty thoughts.
23:15Shorty thoughts.
23:17Bro, I literally looked away from the screen,
23:19turned back, and he was running down.
23:27Realistically, if you're the Ducks,
23:29you probably can't go into this year thinking,
23:31we're going to win the Big Ten again.
23:34Evan Stewart, the guy you were expecting to be
23:36your number one wide receiver,
23:37was injured in this summer
23:38and is already out for the season.
23:41I wanted to see what Evan Stewart
23:42was going to do this year.
23:44He was a tremendously athletic, explosive player
23:46who had this chance to emerge as the primary target.
23:52We both came from Texas.
23:54We both played for the same 7-on-7 team.
23:56But when I first came here, you know,
23:58that was one thing I was looking forward to
23:59was playing next to him.
24:01When I seen that he, like, got hurt and stuff like that,
24:04it hurt me inside, you know,
24:05just because, like, I wanted it for him
24:07to, like, be, like, that receiver
24:09that, you know, gets everything that he wanted.
24:11You know, I feel like this is going to be his year.
24:14Which player has the most pressure on him?
24:16I would argue Decorian Moore is the answer there,
24:19being a freshman and expected to step
24:20into the number one wide receiver role.
24:23Decorian Moore, their five-star freshman receiver
24:25who we all think is going to be a star.
24:27What if he's not?
24:28What if Decorian Moore doesn't step up?
24:31For Decorian, man, it's all hands on deck.
24:33And there's a chance he might have to be there
24:35number one from day one.
24:38It creates the...
24:39There's the stage.
24:41This is why you were recruited.
24:43You've got that five-star reputation
24:45attached to your name.
24:46Go out and show the world that
24:48we brought you here
24:49because we know what you can do.
24:51Now I really got to, you know,
24:53go out there and grind.
24:54So I'm just focusing one day at a time
24:56on just getting better.
24:57Hey, not this, though.
25:01Hey, hey, not this.
25:03Here, tight.
25:05When you're deemed as a five-star athlete,
25:08you kind of grow up a little fast
25:09because you're thrusting the limelight so early.
25:13At the end of the day,
25:13you've got to keep the main thing
25:14the main thing, right?
25:15Like, you're a five-star athlete
25:16because you're a good football player.
25:17So you need to continue to do things
25:18that's going to make you a good football player
25:20and not really get caught up in the hype.
25:22There it is.
25:23There it is.
25:24There it is.
25:24There it is.
25:25You know, a lot of the things I went through
25:26when I was 18, 19, 20 years old
25:28is the same as the players on our team.
25:31What's different is the notoriety
25:32and the attention that they get
25:33and they're under the spotlight
25:34and the pressure.
25:35It's not easy to deal with.
25:37And I think a lot of us,
25:38if we were in those same situations,
25:39we wouldn't handle it well.
25:41I'm just trying to, like,
25:42prepare myself mentally.
25:43I know people are going to give their opinions,
25:45but no one is on the field with us every day.
25:48I just know noise is noise.
25:53There you go.
25:54Finish!
25:54Finish!
25:55Up and in!
25:57Up and in!
25:57Come on.
25:58Corey, ball security.
26:00No indicators.
26:01Good!
26:03Take the ball!
26:04Take the ball!
26:04That hits you too, man.
26:06That's our biggest unit improvement.
26:08It's always been high expectations in general.
26:12It was the same, you know,
26:13when I got to high school.
26:14I'm really just, like, going through that again.
26:16Whatever they need me to do,
26:17I'm going to go out there and do it.
26:19I'm taking it one day at a time,
26:21focusing on everything that I can get better at
26:22before the game.
26:23I'm going to go out there and do it.
26:27sharon moore was asked about his quarterback battle then he has the university of michigan
26:35the quote that comes from sharon moore before anyone asks it's an open competition there is
26:41no starter sharon moore always plays things close to the chest yesterday he said that we're not
26:46going to announce the starter till the week before the first game season so we'll see what happens
26:51with the quarterback position what comes out and i don't know man if someone runs away with it
26:55maybe he'll say something a little earlier
26:57in making this decision for who's going to be the starter this year really you're looking at a
27:17couple things first somebody that's going to be a leader obviously somebody that can be a playmaker
27:21and not just make the off schedule plays but make the plays that are necessary to
27:25go win
27:26we can't go by you know what i think this guy is going to be good
27:56we have to go by what we see we really grade everything we do every day we have a competition
28:00every day with accuracy with all the things and you say here's where here's where the areas you
28:04need to improve and here's where we are right now
28:07he's still 17 18 year old kids and there's very few true freshmen even starting this year and every
28:14year in college football the jumping responsibility for somebody coming from high school to college to
28:19be quarterback at michigan it's huge you know because all eyes are new all the time
28:25as soon as you walk up this building you just don't remove the hat of being bryce underwood the
28:32quarterback you are that i think the responsibility is huge and you have to carry yourself a different way
28:38for a freshman he had a great background from his high school days for sure but at the end of the day
28:46it's still a big jump and the speed of the game is the thing i think that's the first thing they have
28:50to get used to how quickly things happen players are better everybody's faster the everybody's bigger
28:56and so forth he's 18 years old and he might look like he should play defensive end and be in the nfl but
29:03he's a kid and does kid things plays video games hangs out with his friends and for us you got to
29:08know that as coaches and as people to make sure we take care of him the right way
29:11it's really more of a win not if question with bryce i would have to think this could be the number
29:17player in the country at the end of the day though they know they're in a competition and they're
29:21going to have to play well and put it on film because all we can go by is what we see in practice
29:25thank you guys for being here appreciate it it's been a really good camp you know feel like we
29:39built some good depth and uh answered some questions from position battles and things like
29:45that so we're really excited to go from there get started with some questions you just want me to
29:51answer the question just answer it okay uh and uh you know so yes bryce underwood will be our
29:57starting quarterback i'll confirm that you know he's he's earned the opportunity it was not given to
30:03him for a young guy very mature beyond his years and he's still only 18 years old so
30:08uh he's gonna make mistakes but that's what we're here for
30:12thank you thank you thank you
30:32how many autographs you think you signed today
30:45i don't know we got the news that bryce won the job we were excited
30:50it's just amazing to see how his hard work paid off
30:54and i am excited for the world to see what he has to offer
30:58to see my kids dreams come true
31:04i mean it's it's unreal
31:07next saturday he'd be able to live that and i'd be able to be in the stands to watch that come true
31:13and i know i'm gonna shed a few tears in that process but it's so exciting to actually know
31:21if you give everything you got your dreams can come true
31:24well it was a historic year 2024 undefeated regular season big 10 champions oh the memories
31:43but that was last year now we have an empty stadium parking lot beginning to fill
31:50the expectations continue to grow around this program
31:54wasn't that long ago guys we're going get to six wings get ball eligible can we make it
32:01now each year it is can you go undefeated again
32:05can you get back to the final four can you win a national championship
32:13expectations are really really high and as a coaching staff as a team that's what you want
32:19it's the noise it's the excitement it's what we wait for each and every year
32:25some new faces some new names but it's oregon football again and the young talent has a chance
32:31to emerge and contribute right off the bat you gotta have those guys become veterans and become
32:37alphas can't wait to get started
32:40i mean coming out the tunnel if i'm being honest i'd be nervous my first time in an environment
32:51like that we wanted to see like what this is going to be like
32:53the only things that i'm thinking about is what's my job during the play
32:59what coverage are they in what technique do i want to use how do i want to get off the line
33:06what's my job during the play
33:10and here's a little in the round
33:24low reverse
33:28the corian more
33:31at the 30
33:32inside of the 25
33:36fly action inside of the 25
33:48the corian more almost
33:50busted that
33:51first collegiate touch and he gets a first down to the ducks
33:58the little jitters that they say for the freshmen that i like that went away
34:03i really like felt like it was just football at that point i was just out there playing again
34:07it's going to be close he gets by the tackle gets the first down
34:14tries to hurtle and does hurtle a player
34:16well i tell you the quickness of of decorium more coming back
34:20technique and the guy missing getting up the field is what create that play
34:25get out of my way
34:27one more in the backfield and he will get the handoff cuts it out
34:31trying to get my edge
34:32gonna have to run hard does
34:33get out of my way
34:38and a quick throw out
34:39this is going to be sadika to catch
34:40bounces off a tackle
34:41and will score
34:42his first down at the 14
34:49and get away from the tackle at the 10
34:51touchdown
34:52gary bryant jr
34:53the corian moore on the outside block of a true freshman uproots the defensive back
35:00the dude was running past me that i was supposed to be blocking so my first thought was just
35:06like next man go block him and then boom i dunked him in the end zone
35:11oh no
35:13and you took him to the end zone and dropped him there
35:16today the ducks did what they were coached to do and that is play oregon football
35:2359 13 the final score here
35:27i was really proud of the fact we got to see a lot of players in this game today a lot of guys go out there and compete
35:34i think there's still a lot for us to be able to clean up and overall we're proud of the product
35:37what goes through your head when you see decorian hurdle the dude
35:42ball security
35:43i'm not sure i've seen that film yet but on gary's touchdown on the third quarter decorian had a pancake block
35:49i'm really proud of that playing
35:51he's blocking the wrong guy but he's blocking his ass off
35:55decorian's gonna be a really special player for us i don't think anybody's surprised to know that but to see the effort
35:59we talked about you're gonna tell us how much you love your teammates by the way you block on the perimeter
36:03but it's just one game so i'm more excited about the growth that goes on you know moving forward beyond what just happened between now and fall camp
36:09along with 110 000 of your friends here at the big house it's michigan and new mexico to kick off the 2025 college football season here in ann arbor
36:21it's buzz in the air everybody's excited here at the big house
36:24it's
36:28it's
36:42it's
36:43it's
36:44it's
36:45it's really amazing to have that love and support of course but at the end of the day like
36:49i can't feed off of the energy too much or get too high because it's like
36:53i'm a quarterback i gotta stay mellow i gotta stay calm
36:56here come the wolverines out of that eastern tunnel since michigan and new mexico and the 2025 season is underway
37:07the pride of bellville high school and the nation's top overall recruit tonight becomes the fourth true freshman to start a michigan opener at quarter value
37:26going into the first play been preparing for this moment since i was six or seven years old you know
37:36with my dad playing football in the front lawn you know
37:39boys underwood fires quickly and he's got his man that's samaj morgan threw a hole at the 25
37:47and tripped up close to first town yardage on the first play from scrimmage
37:51yes sir yes sir yes sir yes sir
37:53we was going over that play for the last you know two three months before going into the season
38:00we practiced it we studied it and then it was our camp together
38:03and it's running left breaking a tackle is justice haynes
38:13touchdown wolverines
38:15and the key block on that
38:17rice underwood
38:19overall i'm an aggressive player the opportunity presented itself
38:27to get the bluff on a little bit
38:29i just love aggression
38:32well we'll get a chance to see bryce
38:36in a two-minute situation
38:38this will be a no huddle situation
38:41underwood takes the snap back to pace
38:47sets on the screen to haynes and he is swallowed up right away
38:51in fat yards
38:51interesting to see how long of a lease they have for bryce underwood on this drive
38:57second and 12 underwood back to pass
38:59looking and now he's going to get the crowd and sacked for another loss
39:03and coach beck is going to take a timeout with a minute 31 to go in the half
39:07as this drive is going backwards
39:09he worked he worked he worked he worked
39:14third down and 14 for michigan
39:18underwood hires and he's got his man goodwin at the 40 to the 50
39:22splits the defenders into new mexico territory
39:24bryce underwood what a rocket that was to jamie goodwin
39:28a gain of 38 on third and long
39:3030 seconds to go in the half
39:35he's looking left
39:36he's going to deliver
39:39into the end zone
39:41for a michigan touchdown
39:43underwood has his first of many
39:45oh my god
39:48makes it 24 to 10
39:50underwood on that drive five for five
39:5368 yards and his first career college football touchdown
40:06underwood takes the snap
40:09handoff up the middle it's justice haynes across the 40 to the 50
40:13now down the near sideline 40 35 foot race 20 15 10
40:17justice haynes wrangled down
40:19they're going to say down at the one
40:22first and goal from the one
40:24snap handoff to haynes who burrows into the end zone for a michigan touchdown
40:28the poise that he's playing with is off the charts for a guy who just turned 18 years old
40:42back to pass wolverines blitz he's in trouble and down he goes
40:48and that will end the ball game
40:52and michigan closes out a 34 to 17 victory here at the big house
40:59i think the last two new drivers we need to trust
41:01we've done freshman game this team will be in the next one
41:03future for this half
41:04he's on question what makes it
41:05balberines winning this debut of highly touted freshman quarterback bryce underwood
41:10who finishes 251 yards and a touchdown
41:14i feel like there was no nervousness going into that game i feel like i prepared for that moment
41:18you know since i was six so i just feel like it just came naturally
41:21just like playing football in the front lawn you know
41:25you saw some of the wheels you saw like some of the big time throws
41:29i think they got a dude man the fact that he looked comfortable in there in that first college
41:32start i think it's really encouraging sure when you see bryce throw that shoulder pad
41:37and shoulder pad block does that make you cringe a little bit it it does make you cringe when you
41:42don't want your quarterback doing that but it it kind of perks you up a little bit understanding
41:46and knowing like he loves that part of the game how would you describe how you perform today
41:52the c plus today why that low um there's a lot of things i got to work on and also me uh us as a
41:59team as well so we're gonna go back to the drawing board we're gonna come back better next week so
42:05no but that's how he is i'll give you more on monday i'm gonna let us enjoy this one
42:12all right thanks guys thank you thank you good breakfast
42:24i obviously could have stayed in texas i chose to come 17 18 hours away you know i believe that
42:32a period where i can play my best ball i'm his dad but i'm always coaching that guy runs through your
42:37zone wishes you done well should have touched him we want him to make it we need him to make it
42:44this is the best team that james franklin's ever had penn state's got one here
42:50i'll be at his draft party i'll be drafted in the first round i know that he wants to show
42:54what he has but it's going to take more hard work and he's going to have to continue to grind and
42:59he has everything to take it definitely is times of frustration and like what do i need to do better
43:06go play defense and win the ball game defense has been fantastic texas scored the touchdown
43:11it's a whole different ball game we're going to see it be a freshman or not
43:16and it gets the snap ross back at a six to throw a pressure coming
43:36so
43:41so
43:47so
43:48so
