00:15:18and that's exactly what he's done thus far in this tournament.

00:18:34The final match, the final week of John Cena for Saturday night's main event, Washington, D.C., December 13th.
00:18:43It is time to see who can draw closer, get to the finals, who can have that historic opportunity.
00:18:51There is Solo Sokoa who is in the midst of a highly competitive quarterfinal match.
00:18:54Last week, and this is how he advanced.
00:18:57Well, Solo was taken on the high-flying Penta.
00:18:59Penta went high risk with that hurricanrana, but just landed badly, injuring the shoulder.
00:19:05Unable to compete per our medical staff, which gave Solo a pass through to tonight's semifinal.
00:19:13Penta's going to be sidelined for an as-yet-undetermined amount of time.
00:19:17We wish him the best, and we will keep you posted.
00:19:19Well, listen, Wade, you hear it all the time in tournament action, in any sport, survive and advance.
00:19:27And the last time is now tournament semifinals.
00:19:30If you advance, you will be in the finals on SmackDown against L.A. Knight.
00:19:37Of course, the massive prize.

00:20:06We saw Brock Lesnar do that many, many years ago, and we have not stopped talking about it.
00:20:11Whoever has that final match with John Cena, who retires John Cena, especially if they can beat John Cena on the way out, we will be talking about it for decades.
00:20:22Remember, L.A. Knight defeated Jey Uso earlier tonight, and now to see who advances to face L.A. Knight.
00:20:30Then December 13th, the winner against Cena, the ultimate prize in the industry right now.
00:20:37This is such an interesting collision between these two in the ring.
00:20:41Oftentimes, they use similar playbooks.
00:20:43It might come down to who is the better at cheating in this particular match, and I would have to give a significant edge.
00:20:52To Solo Sokoa, based on the fact that there's this almost seven-foot-tall, Talatonga menacingly stalking the outside of the ring,
00:21:02and the ring general, Gunther, has to have his wits about him at all times.
00:21:07Yeah, try calling the match with Talatonga choosing to stand right in front of me here, nearly seven-foot-tall.
00:21:12The imposing figure, the menacing force for Solo Sokoa.
00:21:19Well, these two have indeed clashed, although it was several years ago.
00:21:23They competed back in their NXT days, although both have massively, massively grown and developed since then.
00:21:30There's not a lot we can read into that particular match, although for the record, the winner on that occasion was Gunther.
00:21:36First, Gunther and NXT UK champ, Solo Sokoa, an NXT North American champ.
00:21:43Solo went on to be a United States champion, Gunther a two-time heavyweight champion,
00:21:46and the 666-day longest title reign in history as the Intercontinental Champion for the IC belt that ring.
00:21:56Now Gunther trying to pick up the offense as they test each other's size and strength, back and forth, center of the ring.
00:22:06Both a couple of powerhouses made of granite.
00:22:09And the first shot landed, the first big one goes in favor of Solo Sokoa.
00:22:15That is a big, big mental momentum builder.
00:22:20Solo Sokoa's got his hands full over on Friday night's SmackDown.
00:22:24Some problems brewing with Uncle Howdy and the Wyatt Six.
00:22:27Needs to put that to the back of his mind for now at least.
00:22:30We saw that with the traditional Survivor Series match the other night.

00:22:42It was a very interesting opening pace to this match, and then things heated up moments ago,
00:22:57and now Solo Sokoa out to the floor.
00:23:00You see Talatanga standing over him.
00:23:02This is interesting.
00:23:03Normally Gunther would want to follow up on Solo Sokoa on the floor there.
00:23:06The reason he didn't, I would have to assume, is because Solo Sokoa's partner in crime right next to him,
00:23:13Talatanga, was lurking, and Gunther fought twice,
00:23:16which has given Solo Sokoa essentially a standing nine count there to get back in the ring.
00:23:23Although straight back into danger, and Gunther on the offense.
00:23:27Yeah, driving down those elbows, and now he is going to follow him out there, Wade.
00:23:31Too close to this.
00:23:32Oh, big shot!
00:23:35I mean, a massive shot!
00:23:39Look at that steam ball.
00:23:41Not many people make Gunther look small.
00:23:45He's seven foot tall.
00:23:47There's an uppercut from Sokoa.
00:23:49He's catching the eye of Gunther there.
00:23:51Rock the big man.
00:23:54Oh, right into the post.
00:23:56Solo Sokoa knows full well.
00:23:58He has to.
00:23:59Oh!
00:23:59Man, he may have damaged that right hand, and Gunther goes right back to it.
00:24:06Missing on the spike.
00:24:07How smart is that of Gunther?
00:24:09That is the big danger shot from Solo Sokoa.
00:24:12First crashing against that steel ring post,
00:24:17and then on the attack, ever since aiming at that thumb,
00:24:21trying to smash the hand of Solo Sokoa,
00:24:23take away his biggest weapon.
00:24:26You can see Solo trying to inspect his stuff.
00:24:28Oh, and now on top of the steel steps.
00:24:31You see Talatonga desperately wanting to get involved,
00:24:33but a disqualification here for Solo Sokoa,
00:24:36will eliminate him from the tournament.
00:24:39So Talatonga has to be incredibly careful here.
00:24:42And awful he was,
00:24:45because the referee, the second he turned his back,
00:24:49Talatonga, like a sprinter, pounced,
00:24:52sweeping the ledge of the ring general.
00:24:55You might not like it,
00:24:56but that is devastatingly effective
00:24:59for one of the MFTs.
00:25:11A perhaps pivotal turning point in this match,
00:25:17that intervention by Talatonga was,
00:25:22and there's no letter whatsoever
00:25:24from the former street-fighting champ of the islands
00:25:27who knows how to fight dirty.
00:25:46Look at this scene here in Glendale, Arizona.
00:25:50Massive crowd at Desert Diamond Arena.
00:25:52Things have changed with Gunther and Solo Sokoa,
00:25:56and that is because of the presence
00:25:57of the enforcer of Solo Sokoa, Talatonga.
00:26:00Well, this was the second the referee
00:26:02turned his back on Talatonga.
00:26:04So smart by the MFT,
00:26:07sweeping the legs of Gunther,
00:26:09and finally giving Solo a massive upper hand here.
00:26:13Gunther once again trying to go for that weak spot.
00:26:16Got a couple of shots on the hand of Solo Sokoa
00:26:19a little earlier in this match-up.
00:26:21And now trying to fight back from underneath.
00:26:23Yeah, Gunther dominated the first two rounds
00:26:26of this last time his now tournament
00:26:27to see who faces John Cena
00:26:29in Cena's final match.
00:26:31It was Javon Evans and Carmelo Hayes
00:26:33that he got through.
00:26:34This is a very different beast,
00:26:36Wade, with Solo Sokoa.
00:26:38Completely different kind of animal,
00:26:40and perhaps animal is the right word
00:26:42because the mentality of Solo Sokoa
00:26:45is to be merciless and unyielding
00:26:48when he has the upper hand.
00:26:49This is a perfect moment for Solo Sokoa
00:26:52to take a little breather,
00:26:54knowing full well he has the big Austrian opponent
00:26:56hurt at this point and unable to attack.
00:27:00You can see Gunther reaching for his back-up,
00:27:02chopped down to the back of the neck.
00:27:04Gunther himself was trying to take advantage moments ago
00:27:07when Solo Sokoa went for the Smough and Spike
00:27:10but hit the ring post,
00:27:11and then Gunther was targeting that thumb.
00:27:14And now back to the chop.
00:27:22This time, Gunther locking it up.
00:27:25So rare, you see a block like that
00:27:27on a body slam, but so technically astute.
00:27:30Meanwhile, oh, but he collapses down.
00:27:34This to advance to the finals.
00:27:35Well, two things.
00:27:36Solo Sokoa is a massive, massive human being.
00:27:39He is just as thick as they come,
00:27:42but combine that with the amount of headbutt attacks
00:27:45that he has fired at the lower back of Gunther,
00:27:48and Gunther simply didn't have the power
00:27:51to make that body slam stick.
00:27:54Two veteran superstars who know what it means
00:27:57to win championships,
00:27:58but you talk to everybody around this arena today,
00:28:02and they say the big prize,
00:28:04the one everybody wants,
00:28:06is the chance to retire John Cena.
00:28:08This is a semifinal win here,
00:28:10and you face L.A. Knight in the finals of the tournament.
00:28:14Willie has turned to speed for Gunther at this point.
00:28:17The power game simply isn't working.
00:28:19That's normally in his bag of tricks.
00:28:22It's not going to work against Solo Sokoa,
00:28:24not when you're half beaten down
00:28:26like the former World Heavyweight champ is right now.
00:28:30Gunther quick to his feet
00:28:31and catching Solo on top of the rope
00:28:33and now going up himself.
00:28:38This has really turned into a war of attrition.
00:28:41With these two giants,
00:28:44all that size and weight
00:28:46crashing down,
00:28:48and you could see the ring shake.
00:28:51But of course, executing that move,
00:28:53even though Gunther was the man performing it,
00:28:56that superplex there,
00:28:57landing on his own lower back in the process.
00:29:00You see him turn, try to avoid it,
00:29:02still catches his own lumbar spine,
00:29:05and it's not the stopping out of Gunther
00:29:07as it did Solo Sokoa.

00:29:18Winner here will be one win away
00:29:21from being John Cena's final opponent.
00:29:25That historic pedestal that everybody desires.
00:29:28This is how they started off the match,
