00:09Program Manager ng Halal Industry Development Office and Department of Trade and Industry.
00:15And also joining us is the Chairperson of the World Islamic Entrepreneur Summit 2025,
00:21Dr. Sari Lenggogeni.
00:23Magandang tanghali po sa inyo, Dr. Lenggogeni. Welcome to our program.
00:28Hi Joey, magandang hapon.
00:49Yes, asik Joey, marami tayong magagandang balita.
00:52Una dito, yung pakipag-ugnayan ng ating opisina,
00:56ang Halal Project Management Office ng Department of Trade and Industry,
01:00para maisulong yung ating promotion.
01:02Sa nakaraang World Food Week sa Abu Dhabi,
01:31para matulungan ating mga kababayan in terms of investment and also in terms of job generation.
02:15at sa World Trade Center during the Halal Expo Philippines 2025.
02:37Yes, Asik Joey.
03:01Pangalawa, yung industry development.
04:05Halos kung humigit po muli, ating more than 100% increase yung budget for Halal.
05:03it's a regional and global issue.
05:06Sa datos po na nakalap natin,
05:09it is expected to rise around 7.7 trillion US dollar yung Halal industry.
05:28I now go to Dr. Sari via Zoom.
05:32Dr. Sari, first of all, congratulations on your chairmanship of WIES 2025.
05:39So, just to give context,
05:42what support does WIES provide to entrepreneurs within the ASEAN region,
05:47and how is this collaboration sustained after the summit?
05:53Well, thank you very much, Coy.
05:56First of all, I would like to have a very warm greeting from Indonesia,
06:03West Sumatra,
06:04for all of Philippines' audience.
06:07and we are happy that we come from West Sumatra
06:11and bring world leaders from entrepreneurs,
06:16stakeholders, industry, policy makers,
06:19and also, I think,
06:20almost 20 countries from international participants
06:27join the World Islamic Entrepreneurship in these years.
06:31and I think Philippines also with thanks to Mr. Alim
06:35because he brought up a very great collaboration,
06:42contribution to the World Islamic Entrepreneurship Summit.
06:45Especially, we were very happy to welcome
06:48Mrs. Faranina Mohamed,
06:51the Minister of Trade, Investments, and Tourism from Mindanao
06:57and from Philippines,
06:59and who gave a very insightful comment
07:03and insightful opinion in the summits
07:07in the World Islamic Entrepreneurship in 2026.
07:11As we understand that ASEAN is a very key player
07:16in the entrepreneurs,
07:20Muslim entrepreneurs in halal product
07:25that is not only focused on one product,
07:29but this kind of ecosystem that we bring together.
07:32So, it's not just about the capacity building,
07:35it's not just about the linking,
07:37linking the bridge and the platform
07:40for 99% small, medium enterprise scales
07:43and also one big player,
07:45but also it's bring all of the ecosystem.
07:48So, we have like not only the market linkage,
07:51but also we want to have like business matchings
07:54with investors, capacity building and mentorships
07:58and open the network
08:00for whole of level of small, medium enterprise scales
08:04and also digital adoption for digitalization platforms.
08:08So, we expect as the biggest key players
08:12of the Muslim entrepreneurship in the world,
08:17I think ASEAN has population,
08:20very innovative.
08:22We expect that we can bring,
08:23we can bring this resource in the future,
08:28much more stronger.
08:29We have the good connectivity
08:31and capability to grow together.
08:34What is its potential,
08:53especially since it will be the chair of ASEAN in 2026?
08:58Well, I think Philippines is not just about the having the,
09:06I think 6.8% of Muslim populations in the Philippines,
09:11are in the Philippines,
09:13that it's not only just the companies,
09:17just only for the commodities,
09:18but also the tourism sectors.
09:20So, like we discussed with Mr. Alim,
09:23probably in the future,
09:25we can bring kind of like the linkage
09:28and connectivity for the tourism sector,
09:30like maybe direct flight from the Philippines to West Sumatra,
09:34for example,
09:34as we have the same culture,
09:36same cultures and also same spirit
09:38and also same purpose
09:41to bring how the halal product
09:46and halal ecosystems,
09:47not only just the commodity,
09:49tourism, travel,
09:51women, youth,
09:52and also small medium at the present,
09:55creative brainer as well,
09:56how we bring all of the elements together
09:59and make the collaboration become much more stronger.
10:02So, we build that impact to community as well.
10:05So, I guess Philippines has a very potential leadership on it.
10:09As we can see from the past two years or three years,
10:13Philippines through Mr. Alim
10:15brought a very great opportunity
10:18for collaboration between Indonesia and Philippines,
10:22people to people's connectivity
10:24and also people to community impacts,
10:27which we think this is very prosperous
10:31and very grateful
10:33for the future's collaborative opportunities
10:38and networking collaborations, I think.
10:41So, you just chaired and hosted
10:44a global entrepreneur summit.
10:48So, compared to the rest of the world,
10:51what do you think is the strength
10:53of the entrepreneurs in the ASEAN region?
10:59Well, I think since I mentioned earlier,
11:04ASEAN region is very strong
11:06in terms of like similarity of the heritage,
11:11cultures,
11:12and as well,
11:13we have a very big population
11:15for the young market.
11:17The youth or young generation
11:19is the key driver for our futures.
11:21So, like in Indonesia,
11:24we have like the young population's
11:27bonus demography like Gen Alpha,
11:30Gen Z,
11:31which can bring this platform
11:34become more big and bigger
11:36instead compared to other regions.
11:40So, Asians is very strong,
11:41not only as the biggest,
11:43like Indonesia,
11:44biggest population,
11:44Muslim population.
11:45Also, Philippines has
11:46a very big passion
11:48in terms for the halal.
11:49So, we got the strongest
11:53halal ecosystem,
11:55I think,
11:55compared to other regions
11:56that we can bring together
11:57through the cultural heritage
12:00connectivity
12:01as well as the
12:02digital technology.
12:07As a final question,
12:09what is your message
12:10to the international investors
12:13and entrepreneurs
12:14regarding the potential
12:16of the Philippines
12:17in the halal market
12:18and halal-related innovations?
12:20So, my final message,
12:24especially for the Philippines,
12:26so, we are not just
12:27building companies,
12:28so, we are the building
12:29of future of Asians.
12:31So, our creativity,
12:32resilience,
12:33and heart
12:34are recognized
12:34across the region.
12:36So, keep innovating,
12:37keep believing
12:38in your capacity
12:39and to global.
12:41So, we are proud of you
12:42and we look forward
12:43to growing with you,
12:44the Asians,
12:45and the world.
12:46Thank you very much
12:49for that,
12:49Dr. Sari.
12:51Sa inyo naman,
12:51Sir Alim,
12:52mensahe nyo na lamang
12:53po sa ating mga kababayan,
12:55lalo na po sa mga
12:56maliliit na negosyo
12:58within the halal industry
13:00na gusto pong makilala
13:02sa ibang bansa.
13:05Supportahan po natin
13:06ang programa
13:06ng ating pamalaan
13:08na isulong
13:09ang Halal-Friendly Philippines

13:33ng MSME.
13:34This initiative,
13:35magiging maganda po

13:37ng Pilipinas
13:38sa Chairmanship
13:39for the ASEAN 2026.
