00:00Today I'm going to have some first-hand experience of the amazing and all-important speed and
00:11maneuverability of the Spitfire. What did you do at work today dad? Well I had a ride in the most
00:16amazing machine ever in the history of machines of any kind ever. The first Spitfire flew in 1936
00:27and although more than 20,000 were built there are less than 60 still flying today. This two-seater
00:34I'm going up in started life in 1944 as a single-seater Spitfire and flew 20 operational wartime
00:41sorties. Oh this is absolutely sensational. This is just amazing. I really, it's difficult to put into words really but this is just extraordinary. The measure of a good fighter aircraft is its ability to
00:57take the forces called g-forces caused by hard turns.
01:01Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, I can feel the g now. Yeah, that is a bit of g, isn't it?
01:08The Spitfire was capable of taking more g-forces than its pilots
01:34It hasn't lost any of its amazing performance in the last 60 years. In fact, it's still utterly incredible.
01:41This truly is a phenomenal experience.
01:57You know, I honestly thought that not much could be better than sense but that was pretty good.
