06:09I had spotted it in 1998 as a one-down old pub.
06:14And he had this idea that he wanted to make a music venue out of it.
06:17And he approached me and asked me would I be interested in getting involved...
06:21...because I had a background in the music business.
06:24And I couldn't believe it when I went down to see it.
06:26It was in an awful state.
06:27I mean, the roof was falling apart.
06:29The whole place was falling apart.
06:31And I went, yeah, let's do it straight away.

06:34It was such a novel idea.
06:36It was just something I couldn't possibly turn down.
06:45Was it a Dockers pub?
06:46It was an old Dockers pub.
06:48The family that owned the pub had been living in it.
06:50So we knocked two bedrooms into one initially.
06:53It was a tiny little folk club of 60 capacity...
06:56...with long benches that you'd see in, like, Hogwarts.
07:00And we were very lucky at the very start.
07:02We had the support of people like Christy Muir...
07:06...Luna Sikila, Johnson Balan...
07:09...the great Ronnie Drew played two or three shows here.
07:13Brilliant.
07:13And it kind of got us started.
07:19And it sounds like you quickly garnered a reputation as an artist venue.
07:24We learnt our trade as we went along, you know.
07:27Sometimes it's the very simple things...
07:31...like a warm welcome, a decent PA, a good engineer.
07:35And you painted it pink.
07:36I mean, you can see it in space, really.
07:38It's fantastic.

07:39It's cheery and beautiful.
07:41And it's actually the last colour you expect as you're driving down here.
