00:00We are here with Skate Canada Challenge Senior Ice Dance Champions, Mary-Jade Leroux and
00:06Roman Legat.
00:07Congratulations.
00:09Tell me about your programs, your Rhythm Dance and your Free Dance this weekend.
00:14Well we are really proud of our performance here in Calgary.
00:20We really enjoy always to come in Challenge, it's our third time and for us it was really
00:26like a nice preparation for seeing National in five weeks and it was like to get some
00:34feedback.
00:35We did a couple of changes since the Grand Prix and I feel it went well in both programs.
00:41You?
00:42With everything you said I agree and I think it's been really fun to be here.
00:48Getting to enjoy a bit of the Quebec team, it's like we rarely get to see everyone so
00:51it was nice to be with everyone and enjoy this event.
00:54And for our programs, I think both programs were happy with how it went.
00:57We want the performance to be a bit higher in the next few weeks but I think it was at
01:01the right place for the goal we had here and we accomplished that so we're really happy.
01:06So what was your goal coming here?
01:07Because you had a bye.
01:08You didn't have to come to this event but you chose to.
01:11So what was the motivation for that and the reason?
01:13I think Challenge is a really important competition in the national circuit and national team is really
01:21important this year because everyone's reaching for a big goal.
01:24A big goal.
01:25Yeah.
01:26So we wanted to make sure that we get to know the circuit a bit and make sure that
01:30people get to know us a bit more on the national circuit.
01:34We didn't have the chance to do that since a few years back so it was fun to get the chance
01:39to be here, enjoy all of the Challenge team and it was really important to come here and
01:45perform and have feedback on the changes we made since the last Grand Prix.
01:49Yes.
01:50Because you have made some strategic changes to your program.
01:53What are some of the changes you made?
01:54I think the biggest one would be the choreographic jump.
01:57Yeah we changed the beginning of the free dance so now we have a choreographic jump instead
02:02of a spinning move like we had at the beginning of the season but even in the short we kind
02:07of add some movement, some spice like Scott just like all the little breaks we had now
02:16we don't have any more breaks it's just intense from beginning to the end which is good so I
02:21feel it's now like my say I think it's really now to because we saw that it's everything like
02:28went well it's now it's just to push the performance for nationals.
02:32But you guys are so creative and innovative.
02:36I always loved seeing what you come up with every year but how big a challenge is it to stay
02:41really competitive and always coming up with such new and great ideas?
02:44I feel like every season you know we grow those ideas we harvest them throughout the
02:50season and so when we plan ahead like this it's easier because we have kind of a garden
02:55of ideas.
02:56I can't imagine what's going through your head.
02:59We have like hours long playlists and it's just really fun for us to push that and it's
03:05all we love skating it's all we kind of enjoy doing it so it's really important that we push
03:11ourselves to that and you know there's been some really great programs I think in the last
03:15few years so it's just getting harder and harder to be creative but it's what motivates
03:19us to be here today.
03:21Well it's so exciting I'm so glad you're here for this event.
03:25It was so fun to watch you always enjoy doing that.
03:28Now I also have to add before we close that you have an anniversary coming up.
03:32A big one!
03:34So congratulations on that!
03:36Married 10 years this December so that's amazing and I'm sure we're looking forward to
03:42so much more creativity and success and really good luck for the rest of the season this
03:46year.
03:47Thank you so much!
