00:05Arnaz, tragically passed away on September 27, 2020, at the age of 31.

00:11In April 2019, Anzalone had revealed on Instagram that she was battling stage 4 breast cancer.

00:17Anzalone was an artist, with her obituary describing her as an old soul who loved 60s

00:22and 70s music.

00:24She enjoyed photography, playing guitar and piano, singing, and songwriting.

00:28She was also an animal lover, and while some thought that she didn't share a resemblance

00:32with her great-grandmother, she certainly displayed Ball's trademark gusto.

00:47In the same April 2019 Instagram post, Anzalone shut down trolls who spammed an article about

00:52her with comments alleging she lacked a resemblance to the famed comic actor.

00:57Anzalone first praised the article, writing in her comment,

00:59"'Such a nice article wrote about me and how Lucy and I share the same gumption in regards

01:04to my fight with stage 4 breast cancer and how proud she'd be of me.'"

01:08She then went on to address what she described as, quote,

01:11"'3,000 comments of people literally yelling through her phone, writing,

01:15"'No need to get so angry.

01:17I have acknowledged my entire life I do not resemble my great-grandma, but rather have more

01:21of the Arnaz genes, so thank you all for stating the obvious.'"

01:25While Anzalone's physical appearance may not have been what people expected, she definitely

01:30got one thing from her great-grandmother.

01:32Her name.

01:33Lucille Ball's middle name was Desiree, which is likely where her granddaughter, Julia Arnaz,

01:38got the inspiration for her daughter's name.

01:41In Desiree Anzalone's last Instagram post before her death, she shared a quote from Antonin

01:46Arto in August 2020, which she said was a comfort.

01:50She wrote,

01:51"'It felt like someone was whispering it to me in my ear, someone that just understood

01:55and knew what the pain of my disease has felt like in the last month.'"

01:59It's easy to see why, as the quote begins,

02:01"'You are outside life.

02:02You are above life.

02:04You have miseries which the ordinary man does not know.

02:07You exceed the normal level, and it is for this that men refuse to forgive you.'"

02:11Desiree Anzalone's death is particularly tragic due to her young age.

02:16She also fought against her cancer for a remarkably long time.

02:20Anzalone shared regular chemotherapy updates on her Instagram as far back as November 2014.

02:26Commenters regularly told Anzalone how inspiring they found her updates, with one writing in

02:30January 2015,

02:31"'It takes a lot of courage to step up to this challenge, and you are conquering magnificently.'"

02:38Of course, dealing with cancer for six years is a lot for any person, no matter the age.

02:43But Anzalone managed to handle her condition with humor, regularly cracking jokes about

02:47her bald head and just about everything else on Instagram.

02:51When Anzalone wasn't in treatment, she behaved like pretty much any other twenty-something

02:55on Instagram, hanging out with friends, posting quotes, and capturing sunsets.

03:00She also shared a rare clipping from the National Enquirer in 2017, which have published a photo

03:06of her as a baby in a salacious article about her great-grandmother and family.

03:10Sadly, Desiree Anzalone was born just a few months after her famous great-grandmother died.

03:16Not only did Anzalone not get to meet her great-grandmother, but apparently her mother, Julia Arnaz, did not either.

03:22In 2018, Julia Arnaz Massey shared a message on Facebook mourning her grandmother 29 years

03:28after her death.

03:30She wrote,

03:31Speaking of Julia, she is the daughter of Desi Arnaz Jr., and he is the son of Lucille Ball

03:48and her husband Desi Arnaz Sr.

03:50The New York Post reported that in 1991, Julia was proven to be Desi Jr.'s daughter following

03:56a court-ordered paternity test.

03:58Desi Jr. fathered Julia when he was just 15, the outlet stated.

04:03Julia, who claimed to have only met her dad two times at the time of publication, stated,

04:07We're really working on me threading back to the family.

04:11Desiree Anzalone is survived by a large family, including Desi Jr., and her fiancé and caregiver,

04:17Chris Reynolds.
