00:00It's such a great pleasure to join you on today's Hike Green event

00:04celebrating the spirit of sustainability, environmental friendliness

00:09and of course health and outdoors activities

00:13and this is a very rare occasion where I can feel very free and open

00:19and excited to hike out in the open

00:22especially with good friends and partners

00:26and it's especially meaningful since I just returned from a visit to Brussels

00:32to again partner with our European friends on many aspects

00:37and I do believe the spirit that we are extending today

00:41and that is environmental awareness

00:43also climate change awareness, health

00:48as well as the general understanding and education

00:53of our global environment

00:56I think all of these are, and sustainability of course

01:00all of these are areas where Taiwan and Europe continue to partner

01:03and it is also a very important foundation of our broader relationship

01:09and finally I want to thank all of the organizers and sponsors

01:13and a word of apology to those who wanted to enjoy the hike today

01:19and who are a bit affected by us

01:21but I hope that everyone who is here who loves the open nature can enjoy today

01:26and I also want to explain what my t-shirt says

01:30it's one of my t-shirts that came from a European friend

01:34it's a Dutch word called gazelle

01:36gazelle I believe means I warm, fuzziness, friendliness and togetherness

01:42and I think this is a spirit that is not only a Dutch spirit

01:45but also relative and very much relevant to all of us

01:52and in Taiwan when I served in Hualien

01:54the Amis people also had a phrase called saligaga maburong

01:58which I think means the same thing

02:01wherever we are in the world

02:03working together for a better environment

02:05for a more sustainable earth

02:07that is one of our main purposes today

02:10so thanks to everyone for coming
