00:00Former Cosby's show star Felicia Rashad faces backlash after celebrating Bill
00:08Cosby's release from prison. Hey guys it's Ali for Hollywood Life with your
00:14Hollywood Roundup starting with the aftermath of the Bill Cosby release from
00:18prison. Yesterday Bill's 2018 sexual assault conviction was overturned by a
00:23Pennsylvania High Court. Three years ago the actor was found guilty of three
00:28counts of aggravated indecent assault after drugging and sexually assaulting
00:33Canadian basketball player and massage therapist Andrea Constand in 2004. The
00:39decision was overturned after the court discovered an agreement with a previous
00:43prosecutor that should have prevented Cosby from being charged over the
00:48assault. He was sentenced to three to ten years at the time. His release from prison
00:53was a shock to the internet but an even bigger shock was certain celebrities
00:58response. Felicia Rashad who played Bill's wife on The Cosby Show from 1984 to
01:041992 posted a message of her support for her former co-star after his release from
01:08prison. The actress wrote finally a terrible wrong is being righted. A
01:13miscarriage of justice is corrected. She also included a professional headshot of
01:18the Emmy award-winning actor. The Cosby Show star received a ton of backlash from
01:22fans and a few other people in the industry after the tweet went out. Fellow
01:27actress Janet Hubert, who we all know as the original Aunt Vivian Banks on The
01:32Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, shared a couple of words for Felicia. The actress tweeted,
01:37Felicia, what are you thinking? I don't know you but to say this was terribly wrong.
01:43Everyone knew what he was doing back then. How could you not? Get your umbrella,
01:48sister. Here comes the shit shower. I am outraged that he has been released. Yes,
01:53he is an old ass guilty man. Howard University recently hired Felicia to serve
01:58as the Dean of Howard's College of Fine Arts and they released a statement on her
02:03comments as well. The university said that they stand with survivors of sexual
02:07assault but they are also standing by Felicia Rashad. In a lengthy statement, the
02:12university noted that the personal positions of university leadership do not
02:18reflect Howard University's policies. Felicia Rashad later added another tweet
02:23where she said, I fully support survivors of sexual assault coming forward. My post
02:28was in no way intended to be insensitive to their truth. Personally, I know from
02:33friends and family that such abuse has lifelong residual effects. My heartfelt wish
02:38is for healing. Notably, Felicia has defended her former co-star Bill Cosby in past
02:43interviews. During a January 2015 interview with Nightline, she told the host she never
02:49saw anything inappropriate during their eight years working together. How do you guys feel
02:54about this? Let us know in the comment section. But alright, hit that sub like and bell button.
