00:00There's a new addition to the royal family, and her name is causing quite the stir.

00:05Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have seemingly been the root cause of a lot of talk where

00:14the royal family is concerned.

00:16Since before their insanely lavish wedding in May of 2018, the iconic couple have been

00:21seen everywhere.

00:22From stepping back from the royal family to announcing the birth of their son, Archie,

00:26they've had a lot going on.

00:27And as of June 4th, there's even more exciting news to be shared.

00:31The birth of their new daughter, Lilibet Lily, Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.

00:36And then I'll put my feet up because that's a deserved treat, especially at this stage

00:40of pregnancy.

00:41For those who may not know, royal births are a big deal.

00:44In fact, it's tradition for royal birth announcements to be put on a bulletin and displayed on an

00:49easel in front of Buckingham Palace.

00:51And the announcement of the Duke and Duchess's daughter was no different.

00:55On Friday, June 4th of this year, Meghan Markle gave birth to Lilibet, the newest member of

01:00the royal family.

01:01The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also released an official statement on their Archwell website.

01:06While no footage of Lilibet has been officially released, Meghan and Harry assured their followers

01:11that she and their new bundle of joy were recovering calmly.

01:14They later released an additional message about Lily's arrival, saying,

01:18She is more than we could have ever imagined.

01:21And we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe.

01:25Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.

01:29Amongst an array of congratulations were also many questions regarding their daughter's name.

01:34We'll admit, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor doesn't necessarily roll off the tongue easily,

01:40but the name is packed with significant meaning to the royal family, seeing as how the name pays homage

01:46to other members of the family.

01:48As the next generation of royal children are the next heirs to the throne,

01:52it's probably a good idea to take your time considering a name for newborn royalty.

01:57And it seems like Meghan and Harry did just that when naming their daughter.

02:01The name Lilibet is in honor of her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II,

02:06and holds a lot of meaning for a number of reasons.

02:09According to Royal Central, the queen couldn't pronounce her name when she was younger,

02:14so she and her family used to refer to her as Lilibet.

02:17It's also the name her late husband, Prince Philip, would refer to her by.

02:21Her middle name, Diana, pays tribute to Prince Harry's mother Diana, Princess of Wales,

02:26who he unfortunately lost back in 1997.

02:29In the Apple TV Plus documentary, The Me You Can't See,

02:33Harry opened up about how much his mother meant to him.

02:36And according to NBC News, he also mentioned that

02:40Grandma Diana were some of Archie's very first words.

02:44Needless to say, it makes perfect sense why so many people find it honorable that Harry wanted to

02:49find a way to continue to cherish his mother's memory and its impact on him.

02:54But even though Lilibet's name holds so much meaning, she's actually not the first royal baby to do this.

03:01Kate Middleton and Prince William's daughter, Princess Charlotte,

03:04is named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, also paying tribute to the royal family.

03:10While many can appreciate the historic meaning behind Lily's name,

03:14it wouldn't be the internet if the news didn't also come with its fair share of negative feedback.

03:19I was worried about it. I was afraid about it.

03:22Royal biographer Angela Levin could do without the tribute,

03:27calling the name rude to Her Majesty the Queen and saying that name was a private nickname given

03:32from her husband, even though it totally wasn't. Various news outlets reported that Meghan and Harry

03:38asked for consent from Queen Elizabeth before proceeding to name their daughter Lilibet.

03:43Despite a little bit of negative feedback, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are remaining

03:48rightfully unbothered as they welcome the latest addition to their family.

03:52If we've learned anything about Meghan and Harry, it's that they don't seem to pay attention to

03:57any type of negativity concerning their decisions about their family. They've faced backlash for

04:02stepping back from their royal duties and even for the birth of their son, Archie, and they don't let

04:08it faze them. The Duke and Duchess are prime examples of what it means to take life in your

04:14own hands and to live life on your terms. We see it time and time again.

04:19We are just trying to embrace all of the quality time we get with our son.

04:23But they still remain humble and honor certain traditions of the royal family,

04:28and they're getting their fair share of congratulations from literally everyone.

04:32Stassi Schroeder, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Ellen DeGeneres, and even Jersey

04:40Shore star Mike Sorrentino all congratulated the royal family on the special occasion.

04:46Even though Lilibet just got here, it seems like she already may have some pretty big shoes to fill,
