Shawn Mendes is getting candid about his sexuality. The singer opened up to his fans during a concert at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, where he also performed his upcoming song "The Mountain" which features lyrics about the conversation surrounding his sexuality such as "You can say I like girls or boys / Whatever fits your mold."

00:22sexuality. Lyrics such as, you can say I like girls or boys, whatever fits your mold. Since I

00:27was really young, there's been this thing, there's just been this thing about my sexuality

00:34and people have been talking about it for so long. I think it's kind of silly because I think

00:40sexuality is such a beautifully complex thing and it's so hard to just put into boxes. It always

00:45felt like such an intrusion on something very personal to me, something that I was figuring

00:50out in myself, something that I had yet to discover and still have yet to discover. The Treat You Better

00:55singer who has been questioned about the topic for years added that he's speaking freely now so that

01:00he can be closer to everyone.

01:02The real truth about my life and my sexuality is that, man, I'm just figuring it out like everyone.

01:09I don't really know sometimes, and I know other times. And it feels really scary because we live

01:14in a society that has a lot to say about that. I'm trying to be really brave and just allow myself

01:19to be a human and feel things. And that's all I really want to say about that for now.
