Transcript
00:00Season 3 of Abbott Elementary is back on the air.
00:03What has the fan response been like for you so far?
00:05The fan response has been incredible, even more so than the first two seasons.
00:09I guess because they were waiting so long because of the strike.
00:12They've been chomping at the bit like we have been chomping at the bit to start working.
00:17And they let us know right away how they feel about it.
00:19And the first episode, the two-parter, they loved it.
00:24They loved it, so I'm hoping that they continue to do that.
00:27I remember you told me at the Golden Globes that we would see Ava go through a bit of a metamorphosis, and we have.
00:32It's a new era for her, also a new era for Janine.
00:35What can we expect from your character this season?
00:37Will we get to see a new era of him at all?
00:39I think you're going to see a new era. I can tell you this much.
00:41You're going to see more of him away from the school in the sense that you learn about the jobs that he has had over his lifetime.
00:49Because, you know, he's had over 400 jobs.
00:52So you're going to see a little bit about that.
00:55And a little more about his creative intelligence.
00:59I think that's a good way to say it.
01:01Without saying anything, without spilling the beans.
01:04Everybody's trying to get me to say, who's on the show?
01:07But I think we've got a lot of great guest stars, a lot of surprises, people that no one would think.
01:14So that's all I'm going to say.
01:16There are always so many great guest stars. Do you have a dream guest star for the show?
01:21I've been asked that question three times in a row here.
01:25You know, there's so many people that I would love to work with, first of all.
01:29And if they came to the show, hopefully I would work with them in a couple of scenes.
01:34But, you know, there's so many people, like I said, I'd like to work with Robert De Niro or Meryl Streep.
01:41You know what I mean? I've worked with some great people that I've just been starstruck about.
01:47And if I keep running my mouth, I might spill the beans.
01:50And I know that's what you guys want me to do.
01:53We won't get you in trouble. I won't get you in trouble today.
01:56My boss is small, but she is mighty. She is mighty. And I love her.
02:01Since we're here at the SAG Awards, it was a hard year last year with the SAG After Strike.
02:05Does it feel like there's a renewed sense of energy here tonight as compared to last year's show?
02:10You know, because the strike just unified us in a way like never before, you know.
02:17And I think it's unified all the unions, SAG After, IOTC, directors, and writers' guild.
02:23And the fans waited so long for us particularly, or the other shows too, to come back.
02:30And I think the combination of all of that has just really made this a great time for network television.
02:36I think so, yeah.
02:38What role got you your SAG card?
02:41America's Most Wanted, a documentary.
02:46But right after that, I did The Bold and the Beautiful as a janitor.
02:51And that, the first one made me Taff Harley, and then The Bold and the Beautiful got me my SAG card.
03:00I think so, yeah.
03:01I think so.
03:03I think so.
03:05There was a lot of red and red.
03:06That was the most red.
03:07It was a lot of red.
03:08I think so.
03:09I think so.
03:10I think so.
03:11I think so.
03:12I think so.
