00:00We are here with Skate Canada Challenge Junior Pairs Champions, Ava Chung and Steven Lee from the British Columbia, Utah Territory section. Congratulations.
00:16Thank you so much.
00:18So tell me a little bit about your skate yesterday in the short program and then your free today because you were in third place going into the free. What was your mindset? What were you thinking about for today?
00:29I think our short went pretty well. Obviously, I think there's a lot of things we could have done better in the short, but going into today, it was more just, okay, let's just do what we normally do.
00:45We didn't have very many expectations. We were just trying to do what we've been doing in training.
00:52So let's talk about your training. You were novice last year, second in novice.
00:56Yeah.
00:57And now you made the jump to junior.
00:59Yeah.
01:00What were the things you or your coaches had you working on to prepare you for the jump to the next level?
01:05A lot of skating skills. We've been working a lot on our skating and our steps and our choreography.
01:14Yeah. Like she said, a big emphasis on speed, like projection and presentation. So I think those things were the most focused on.
01:27Now, heading into the season, did you have some goals or aspirations that you were really looking forward to?
01:37Um, I wouldn't say we would have too many things. Like, obviously, we would still want to land a third triple sell.
01:46Yeah.
01:47Well, yeah, we didn't have many goals going in as it is our first year, but we were just like really prepared and we're working on our elements and skating.
01:59So I would like to ask you, because you were at the next gen camp this past summer where I saw you, and you were up against a lot of high level junior pairs, already skating senior.
02:08Yeah.
02:09What did you learn from that experience that set you up for this?
02:12Um, I learned a lot. I like, I really like watching them and I like, I look up to them a lot and I've learned like, like how they present themselves in a competition.
02:25Yeah. Um, I think there's a lot of just fending off the kind of the intimidation feeling. And I think especially, um, the Junior Grand Prix Memorial Cup in Poland also helped with this.
02:36Yes.
02:37So yeah, going into this, we felt pretty good. And I don't think there's much intimidation left.
02:44No, it looked like you felt pretty good and pretty confident.
02:46Yeah.
02:47So I'm glad for that. Um, good luck at the national championships in Gatineau. We'll see you there. And again, congratulations.
02:54Thank you so much.
