00:00Hey guys, we are here with Kelly Rowland, who is just, I mean, an icon.
00:06And we're with another icon.
00:09Yes, Honey Nut Cheerios, right?
00:11Pretty iconic, and you are collabing with them for their Whole Heart Challenge.
00:16Yes, yes, yes.
00:17So tell me a little bit about that.
00:19Well, it's basically, first of all, I'm very excited to be partnering up with Honey Nut Cheerios.
00:24Definitely an iconic brand, like you said.
00:26It's been in my life for as long as I can remember, and now being able to share Honey Nut Cheerios with my son is kind of like crazy to me, but it's so cool.
00:36But even besides being an icon, I feel like when they asked me to come on board and partner with them, it was more so about the Whole Heart Challenge and promoting healthy hearts, happy healthy hearts.
00:47As someone who has lost someone in my life to heart disease, my mother, I just wanted to take a different approach to basically heart health and start exercising.
01:03Change the way I was eating, in some ways make it cleaner, really getting out and moving.
01:08And I know when some people think about high cholesterol or heart, anything related to the heart, it's like, oh, I don't want to think about it.
01:16You have to think about it.
01:18You have to take care of yourself, and you have to pay attention to that.
01:22And, you know, I love that the brand has been around for so long, and they care about everyone else being around for a longer period of time, of course.
01:30I love that, and it's a tasty way to be healthy, you know?
01:36It's a tasty way to be healthy.
01:37You don't have to eat, like, kale, Honey Nut Cheerios.
01:39Yeah, exactly, exactly.
01:40And it's fun in the morning.
01:42You think about, like, being a kid all over again.
01:44I know I do with Honey Nut Cheerios.
01:46Absolutely.
01:47So how do you take your Honey Nut Cheerios?
01:49Because sometimes people just, like, love them plain, some almond milk in there.
01:52I have mine with almond milk and some ice.
01:55And some ice.
01:56I like my ice.
01:56I like my milk cold.
01:57Everybody has theirs a different way, but I like my milk really cold.
02:01Yes.
02:02Oh, I love that.
02:03You really do look incredible.
02:06You have such an awesome bikini bod.
02:09And you are a mother.
02:10How, I mean, in addition to eating Honey Nut Cheerios, how did you kind of take your health into your own hands and, you know, start eating healthy and working out more?
02:19Like I said, it was actually the passing of my mom and then meeting someone who actually taught me about nutrition and taught me about movement
02:26and taught me about just, you know, making sure I care for my body.
02:31Yeah.
02:31I only get one.
02:33And I just, I wanted to feel better.
02:35I wanted to feel stronger.
02:36It's not about, I think sometimes people get that mixed up with skinny.
02:40Yes.
02:40No one cares.
02:41I mean, I don't care about being skinny as much as I care about being healthy and being strong and actually being able to have my body like hold itself together for as long as it can.
02:52And so I don't think about exercising in like a vanity kind of way as much as I want my body to be strong to support itself the longer I live.
03:01Absolutely.
03:01Yeah.
03:02And I think that we've kind of gotten into a movement where women are starting to lift and they're starting to, you know, build that foundation for themselves.
03:11I love that.
03:13I feel like you back in the day too, you know, in the Destiny's Child days, you all were known for your strong physiques.
03:20Like you never, you guys were never like too skinny or too, you know, it was always healthy and a great role model for women.
03:29Well, I'm so happy that, like you said that, thank you very much.
03:33Yeah.
03:33Yeah.
03:34You know, speaking of just like women leading, you know, in life right now, I feel like you guys really set a standard for that and kind of this female domination.
03:45Did you ever think about that, you know, back in, you know, 20 years ago?
03:50Because now we are having these major female empowerment movements.
03:53Um, yeah, I think that being young and young women making decisions in our careers was something that really meant a lot to us.
04:05So when it came to doing that, you know, it was sometimes really a push pull kind of situation.
04:13And so we put our foot down on a lot of things and we meant business.
04:17And, um, we wanted to encourage other women to do the same and traveling with those songs and being able to see women's, um, reaction to them and how they sang them and how full of zeal they were and how it was so like definitive and they meant it.
04:34And it was with so much passion and conviction.
04:36That's what got you like riled up to, you know what I mean?
04:39And you could feel the energy in the room just completely transformed, whether it was, I'm a survivor, like you watch people go, absolutely am.
04:48And you are a part of it, you know what I mean?
04:51And it is truly a blessing, truly a blessing.
04:55Um, and you know, women leading the way right now, is there anyone that's inspiring you?
04:59I mean, Janelle Monae is just killing it.
05:01I love her.
05:02That's who I was just thinking about.
05:03I love Janelle Monae.
05:04Oh my gosh.
05:04I love Janelle Monae.
05:06I love Michelle Obama.
05:07Oh.
05:07I love Mrs. Michelle Obama, for sure.
05:13She's amazing.
05:14Yes, she is.
05:15Um, can we expect new music coming from you soon?
05:18Yes, yes, yes.
05:19Okay.
05:20Anything.
05:21I'm not saying when.
05:23Okay.
05:23But I know I'm ready.
05:24You're ready.
05:25I know I'm ready.
05:26How did you know you were ready?
05:27Um, I knew I was ready a while ago, period.
05:31Yeah, I knew I was ready a while ago, but now I'm like, I'm ready to tour.
05:34Yeah, I'm ready to tour.
05:36I'm ready to perform.
05:36I'm ready.
05:38Ready.
05:38Yeah.
05:39How do you balance it all with, you know, you have a child at home?
05:42I'm still learning.
05:42Yeah.
05:43Every day is learning.
05:43I'm still learning.
05:44Yeah, I'm still learning.
05:45And I think the most interesting part of it is like, if you spend too much time doing one
05:51thing that you miss out on the other thing.
05:52So, it's, that's why I'm learning the balance of it all.
05:56And I just think that women are superheroes.
05:59And the fact that we have children and have the relationships and have the career and still
06:07trying to figure out, okay, where do I fit?
06:09And then we getting that into, we are superheroes.
06:11And, but we're all still trying to figure it out.
06:14Because I remember asking another woman that when I first had my son, she's like, oh, honey,
06:18you figure that out.
06:19And I'm like, I need you to help me figure it out.
06:22She's like, that's helping you figure it out.
06:24It's like telling you you're going to figure out your own method, your own routine and how
06:29to do it because everyone has a different, you know, life schedule.
06:33Yeah.
06:33Yeah.
06:34Um, you know, something else that I wanted to talk to you about is, um, Halle Bailey.
06:41I, because I, I am so interested in this as a redhead.
06:44Um, I'm so excited for the Ariel remake of Little Mermaid.
06:48And I'm so excited that Halle Bailey was chosen.
06:51I mean, does that, what does, what did that announcement kind of mean to you, say to you?
06:56Um, what are your thoughts?
06:57That we are taking strides, um, when it comes to, um, just being more culturally diverse,
07:05um, and wanting to see it on screen and making sure that young girls who look like her or have
07:14hair like her see themselves identified in an iconic movie like The Little Mermaid.
07:20And it's so necessary.
07:22And, um, it's beautiful that it's happening.
07:25And I'm so happy for her and she is going to nail this because when you actually start
07:31to think about Ariel's voice, it's like, she's the only person who could have done it.
07:35She's the only person who could have done it.
07:37And, um, just absolutely delighted for her.
07:40I'm really excited too.
07:41Yeah.
07:41Well, thank you so much for talking to us today and spreading that really important message
07:47about heart health.
07:48Is there anything else that you, you know, want to say about the brand?
07:52No, I'm, I'm just, like I said, so excited to be partnering up with Honey Nut Cheerios.
07:56And, um, yeah, we want to encourage everybody to take care of your heart.
08:00Yes.
08:01Take care of your heart and look out for new music.
