Transcript
00:00Get excited, Deadpool fans. It turns out Deadpool 2 will be dropping into theaters a little sooner than we thought.
00:08The Hollywood reporters exclusively learned that Fox is shaking up the release schedule of its X-Men movies.
00:13The studio is giving Deadpool 2, New Mutants, and Gambit new opening dates.
00:18Deadpool 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 Ryan Reynolds smash,
00:23is being pushed up two weeks, from June 1st to May 18th.
00:27The move puts the action comedy up against Sony's Slenderman, but more importantly,
00:32it will now open one week before Disney's solo A Star Wars story.
00:36It's a strategic play, as even second weeks have been exceptionally strong for Star Wars movies.
00:41Josh Boone's take on Marvel's teen heroes, New Mutants, has been pushed back by 10 months.
00:46The movie stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, and Charlie Heaton.
00:50Its release date is jumping from April 13, 2018 to February 22, 2019.
00:56One reason for the change, according to insiders, the studio now won't have an overlap with X-Men movies
01:01in certain overseas markets, where New Mutants and Deadpool 2 would have been in theaters at the same time.
01:06Finally, Gambit is seeing its release date move from February 14, 2019 to June 7, 2019.
01:13This news comes just after the Channing Tatum-led film lost its director.
01:17Gore Verbinski exited the movie on Thursday, and the search is on for a replacement.
01:21But studio insiders believe the project will do better as a summer Marvel movie.
