00:06And with the revelation of her husband's quiet divorce filing, the rumor mill has once again

00:10lurched into motion.

00:12Let's explore some of the potential reasons why Sarah Palin is getting divorced.

00:18Todd Palin filed for divorce from Sarah Palin on, of all days, his birthday, September 6,

00:232019.

00:24Todd used the couple's initials on the filing in an apparent attempt to conceal identities,

00:29but savvy reporters figured it out because their youngest son's birthday was listed in

00:33the documents.

00:34And speaking of the docs, Todd shared a very curious detail about why he and Sarah won't

00:39be able to make it work.

00:41Lawyers for the snowmobile hobbyists cited an incompatibility of temperament, such that they

00:45find it impossible to live together as husband and wife.

00:49Not only do we find it interesting that Todd filed the papers first, but we're shocked to

00:53learn these two aren't compatible.

00:55The couple appeared to share the same interests and conservative values, after all.

00:59But as the old saying goes, you never know what happens behind closed doors.

01:04We might be surprised by Todd and Sarah Palin's impending divorce, but one person close to

01:09the family probably isn't — Bristol Palin's ex, Levi Johnston.

01:14The avid hunter, who is the father of Bristol's eldest son, Tripp, claimed the two have been

01:18at odds for a long time.

01:20When asked in a 2009 interview with Radar Online whether the pair had marital issues, Johnston

01:25replied that they've had issues, quote, from day one.

01:28Funny.

01:29Ha ha.

01:30Not funny.

01:31He also suggested these supposed problems were to blame for Sarah resigning from her position

01:36as the governor of Alaska in July 2009, a move that sparked great controversy and confusion

01:41at the time.

01:42We're not sure what problems supposedly existed between Todd and Sarah, but Johnston denied cheating

01:47played a role.

01:48Speaking of infidelity, explosive claims about Sarah and Todd Palin's marriage came to light

01:54following the publication of Joe McGinnis' 2011 book The Rogue, Searching for the Real

01:59Sarah Palin.

02:01In the expose, McGinnis accused Palin of having an affair with NBA star Glenn Rice while she

02:05was dating Todd.

02:07Rice seemingly confirmed the hookup, telling the author,

02:09"...we just hit it off.

02:11In a short time, we got to know a lot about one another.

02:13It was all done in a respectful way.

02:16Nothing hurried."

02:17But wait!

02:18That's not all.

02:19McGinnis also accused Sarah of engaging in a long-term affair with Todd's former business

02:23partner and friend, Brad Hanson, during their marriage.

02:26The outdoorsman supposedly ended his business relationship with Hanson after discovering the

02:30so-called affair, which McGinnis alleged was Sarah's way to retaliate against Todd's alleged

02:35infidelities.

02:36Both Sarah and Brad denied any affair.

02:38Although money can be a big factor for divorce, this doesn't seem to be the case for Sarah

02:44and Todd Palin.

02:45Case in point, in court documents, Todd requested their debts and assets be split equally, according

02:51to Radar Online.

02:52It seems fair given Todd has been by Sarah's side throughout the duration of her career

02:56and the fact that he has always held steady jobs.

02:59According to the couple's 2007 federal income tax filing, Todd pulled in over $90,000 working

03:04as an oil field production operator and commercial salmon fisherman in Alaska.

03:08As of the making of this video, the couple's combined net worth is estimated to be an impressive

03:14$12 million.

03:15And although most of that cash was arguably accrued by Sarah, who has become an author

03:19and reality TV star since becoming a high-profile political figure, we find it telling that Todd

03:24didn't request child support given that the couple will likely share custody of their young

03:28son Trigg.

03:29This appears to be a what's fair is fair kind of deal instead of a money grab, suggesting

03:33this split wasn't about moolah in the end.

03:37Conflicts regarding parenting decisions can often lead to divorce, but it appears that Sarah

03:41and Todd Palin have always been on the same page about their kiddos.

03:45Case in point, just months before Todd filed for divorce, the pair spotted supporting youngest

03:50daughter Piper at her high school graduation in May 2019.

03:54Sarah captioned a shot of herself with Todd and their family,

03:56"'Everyone needs a Piper Indy Grace in life.

03:59Girl makes the world a better place.'"

04:01Although things were probably rough between the two at this point, it's clear they put

04:05their differences aside for the sake of their children.

04:08Furthermore, Todd requested joint custody of their son Trigg, and if he had wanted to hurt

04:12Sarah, as is sometimes part of the unfortunate reality of ugly divorces, he could have requested

04:17full custody.

04:19We're all as idealists, but we have a feeling this breakup wasn't about their kids, especially

04:23since four out of five are now adults.
