Daniel Wales reports ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League away fixture against West Ham United, with Head Coach Arne Slot making clear that he and his players will fight together to alleviate pressure after another recent loss, this time 1-4 against PSV in the Champions League.
00:00It was very much a head-in-hands night for Liverpool in the Champions League in midweek, as they suffered yet another defeat, this time at the hands of Dutch side PSV Eindhoven. 4-1 was the final score, leading to anger and perhaps even disbelief.
00:17Next up for the Reds is a trip to the capital to face a resurgent West Ham United who are unbeaten in their last three matches. Head coach Arnie Slott vowed that he and his players would keep fighting.
00:30Yeah, we've had the same conversations as we've had since I'm here. And as I'm not sure if I said it last night, but we fight on and we try to improve.
00:45That's what we all try. But the conversations have been the same as they've been for the past one and a half years.
00:52Although I do agree with you that our standards and with our I mean the team have not been of the standards that we are used to and that we want.
01:01So we think we can play better than we do. But last season when we did really well, there was a lot of focus on certain individuals.
01:09And I always said it should be about the team and the team makes the individuals look very good.
01:14And if the opposite is happening, we should also look at the team and not at the individuals. So that's where it's about for me.
01:23In the end, it's about doing what this club is about, is keep fighting and no matter how difficult it is, we have to fight together.
01:34Staying together will require some of Liverpool's biggest names on the pitch to help drag them out of the mess they currently find themselves in.
01:43But that begs the question of how easy a fix will this be or are the issues more deep rooted?
01:50Having been Premier League champions just last season, Liverpool looked to build on their success in the transfer markets in the summer just gone.
01:58But some of the names that they brought in have failed to hit the ground running as of yet.
02:05Therefore, Arnie Slott certainly has a huge challenge on his hands to make sure that his senior players and new arrivals begin to show their quality.
