00:00Back in April of this year, you penned a piece in The Telegraph in which you said that President Putin is a liar and a murderer.
00:09It is impossible to accommodate him. So what's your view of President Trump's efforts to broker a peace deal with him?
00:17Well, my comments were in general terms with Putin. Putin will not be satisfied with what he's got at any one time.
00:26He's the worst combination between KGB ideology and Russian imperial expansionism.
00:32When it comes to Ukraine, we have to accept that there was a failure of Western deterrence that emboldened, if not encouraged, Putin to seek, first of all, Crimea and then part of Ukraine itself.
00:47We have to draw a line now. We have to say that this far and no more.
00:54I think probably with real politic, you have to accept that Russia is not going to budge from some of the territory it has.
01:01So you need to look ahead and see what gives Ukraine the greatest guarantee of sovereignty and safety going forward.
