00:00Previously on Project Runway Canada, I'm pairing you up with content creator for your first real client challenge.
00:11This is the top piece. Do we have enough time to switch?
00:15If she doesn't like the new top, I'm .
00:18My client loves linen.
00:20Just want to make sure we don't have like a crinkle wrinkle.
00:23I like the playfulness of it all.
00:25This was one of my favorite looks.
00:26It certainly made a statement.
00:28The winner of this challenge is Delaine.
00:31My makeup, guys.
00:33Little Feather and Naima.
00:35Your designs lack the confidence to command the runway, but we're giving you a second chance.
00:40I'm begging you to really step it up next week.
00:44At stake for the winner, from TV, a career-launching investment of $100,000
00:51and a feature in Elle Canada magazine with global supermodel Coco Rocha.
00:57Fashion designer, Spencer Badu.
00:59Creative director, Aurora James.
01:02And legendary fashion journalist, Jeanne Becker.
01:05This is Project Runway Canada.
01:08Watch me do my thing.
01:14Oh, I'm so excited.
01:16Design technology lab.
01:17Oh, that's amazing.
01:18Oh my God, that thing's moving.
01:19Hi designers.
01:20Hi.
01:21In fashion, trends come and go.
01:22But the future is here.
01:23Literally.
01:24For this challenge, we want you to transport us to the year 2125.
01:37Welcome to your avant-garde challenge.
01:46I haven't had experience creating avant-garde.
01:48My aesthetic is a little bit more elegant and timeless.
01:52My interpretation of avant-garde is weird-shaped, over-the-top design.
01:57But to other people, it could be like, oh, what the hell is that?
02:01But I'm hoping I don't get the, what the hell is that?
02:03Because I've been getting, what the hell is that?
02:05Take a look at these cutting edge materials that were created right here at TMU's design and technology lab.
02:12Transparaprint, camo foil, UV foam, and gritted cotton.
02:17This week, you'll be working with them.
02:22The fabrics look amazing, but I've never actually worked with them, so I'm a bit skeptical.
02:29But you won't be century hopping solo.
02:33This week, you're working in...
02:37Teams.
02:42I don't like teams.
02:43I have never been a team player.
02:48For this challenge, each team must incorporate two of these printed materials into their designs.
02:54Leland and Delane, as our two challenge winners, you get to pick your teams.
03:00Oh, my God. That's sweet.
03:02Choose wisely, because this week, two designers from the losing team will be out.
03:10I think this is a very high pressure week.
03:12It's gonna suck to see two people go, so I'm hopeful that's not me.
03:17Delane, you get first pick.
03:19Rome.
03:20Good choice.
03:21Leland, your turn.
03:22I gotta pick Charles, Chuck, my guy.
03:23Curtis.
03:24I want people that have a strong individual voice.
03:25My girl, Kat.
03:26And open to collaboration.
03:27Dalarimic.
03:28Dalarimic.
03:29I think I'm gonna go Maya.
03:30Maya is so talented.
03:31And Foster.
03:32Foster's technical skill is so precise.
03:34Leland, you get the last pick.
03:35Leland, you get the last pick.
03:36Do you choose Littlefeather or Nemo?
03:37I'm the bottom of the barrel.
03:38Big bummer.
03:39Nobody's gonna pick me.
03:40I'm really nervous.
03:41I just wanna run away.
03:43I'm gonna go Littlefeather.
03:44I'm gonna go Littlefeather.
03:45I'm gonna go Littlefeather.
03:46Ah, hey.
03:48Puh.
03:49I'm gonna go.
03:50I'm gonna go.
03:51Puh.
03:52Me.
03:53I'm gonna go.
03:54I'm gonna go.
03:55Big bummer.
03:57Nobody's gonna pick me.
03:59I'm really nervous.
04:01I just want to run away.
04:04I'm gonna go Little Feather.
04:09I feel like a loser.
04:10Being in the bottom two challenges in a row,
04:13I feel like I have to prove myself.
04:16Naimo, you get to pick which team you want to join.
04:22I picked team forward.
04:24Yay!
04:26I'm more comfortable with Delaine's team.
04:28They're easy to work with.
04:29I'm hoping I don't bring them down.
04:31I'm happy with my team.
04:33Six might be too many cooks in the kitchen.
04:35Leland, you get first pick of material.
04:38I'm gonna have to go UV foam.
04:40We can do a lot with it.
04:41Create some really cool shapes.
04:43We're gonna go with a camo foil.
04:45Nice.
04:46I love a thermoplastic, so I'm in.
04:48That means team forward.
04:50You get gritted cotton.
04:52Each one of you must incorporate both of your team's materials.
04:56And as a team, the collection must be cohesive.
05:00Got it.
05:01This is a two-day challenge.
05:02I'm so excited to see what the future holds.
05:05Get sketchy.
05:07All righty.
05:09Let's do it, ladies.
05:11First pick of models.
05:13Okay, no drama.
05:14Just flip them over.
05:15I feel really confident with my team.
05:17Avant-garde is one of my favorite things to do.
05:19But it's a little scary relying on other people.
05:22Two people are going home this week.
05:24Okay, are we happy with this?
05:25Yes.
05:26This is already futuristic.
05:28Yeah.
05:29The transparent print is even stiffer than I thought it would be.
05:31I'm not a fan.
05:32But the UV foam brings an extra fun layer playing with light.
05:37That's a royal blue, right?
05:38Yeah.
05:39Like a royal electric blue.
05:41But how do you tie this into that?
05:43And I feel like almost water and earth.
05:46A hundred percent.
05:47Blue to represent water.
05:48Brownish.
05:49Transparent print as earth.
05:51Mm-hmm.
05:52So the story that we've come up with is that in a hundred years, our resources are finite.
05:58It's the search for water and earth.
06:00It's like a love letter to, like, the element.
06:02Yeah.
06:03First thing I will say, I think we should stick with that color palette.
06:06Yes.
06:07I know that the grid cotton will be really easy to work with, but the foil camouflage might be a bit tricky.
06:12It gets very crinkly no matter what you do with it.
06:15Realistically, in a hundred years, we could be in a very dystopian, military-like world.
06:21Yeah.
06:22Our inspiration is futuristic dystopianism.
06:25Very bold shoulders, very clean lines and structure.
06:28I'm seeing this as, like, a protective fabric, like an armor.
06:32Yes.
06:33I want to make thigh-high boots, high-waisted shorts, and a jacket with a dramatic collar.
06:38I'm envisioning that she's a warrior.
06:40Perfect.
06:41Yeah.
06:42We're not sure what the weather is like in the future.
06:46So I'm thinking of a neoprene bodysuit, and then I wanted to use the UV foam as the parts that would come down.
06:54They would be doing the cascading.
06:55Yeah.
06:56Yeah.
06:57I'm so happy with my team.
06:59We have Charles, Leland, Foster, and Maya.
07:02These guys are deadly.
07:04So, Littlefeather, the specific reason that I wanted you a part of our team is I think that you'll really kind of come alive.
07:09When we have a material that isn't a sewing thing, you can create some great shapes.
07:13You can do some gluing.
07:16No.
07:17Don't just do arts and crafts.
07:19I don't want nothing falling off on the runway.
07:23Okay, guys.
07:24Time's up.
07:25Let's go shopping.
07:26Hey, time travelers.
07:27Hey.
07:28The brief said avant-garde, and you guys have to use both of your materials in each design.
07:40And keep cohesion top of mind.
07:42Got it?
07:43Yep.
07:44Each of you have $600 to spend and 30 minutes to shop.
07:48Get going.
07:49I know what I'm looking for.
07:52So, our colors were going for bronze, black nudes.
07:57Our team's color palette is very earthy.
07:59Browns with transparent textures.
08:02What do you think about this?
08:03For the coat?
08:04Yes.
08:05I'm creating a voluminous coat that has transparent material to draw attention to the UV foam.
08:10I really love that.
08:12That pink is too pink.
08:14The pink is way too pink.
08:15Yeah.
08:16Our group is going with colors from the camo foil because everyone is going for colors.
08:21I'll just go for black and incorporate this.
08:23I'm very comfortable in designing an avant-garde.
08:26So, I'm making a structured military type blazer with pants.
08:31This is my challenge.
08:32I've got this.
08:33How's it going?
08:34Good.
08:35I'm picking up the pinks in our collection.
08:37This fabric is very elegant.
08:39What's going to make it feel futuristic?
08:41The structure.
08:42I'm going for a line skirt with a pointy asymmetrical top.
08:48It's spaceship couture.
08:49All right.
08:50Make sure it's futuristic.
08:52Yeah.
08:53I need super stress and silver.
08:55I don't like this challenge.
08:57I don't do avant-garde cuts, you know, and silhouettes.
09:02But I am making a square shoulder chainmail body armor with silver fabric.
09:09So, it's protecting my model because it's the end of the world, apparently.
09:14This is amazing.
09:15Designers, you have less than 10 minutes.
09:18It's not bad if you lean into the green in the right way.
09:21You think the yellow goes with all this?
09:22Yeah.
09:23Time's up!
09:24I will see you all back at the workroom.
09:27Team challenge.
09:28Let's do this.
09:29Team forward.
09:30Let's do it.
09:31Here's our materials.
09:32Oh, I can't wait to play with this.
09:33Whoa.
09:34This is incredible.
09:35These materials are ugly.
09:50I don't like them.
09:51It's not going to be easy to keep it smooth.
09:54Yeah.
09:55I'm going to try to keep it as straight as possible.
09:57I'm so excited.
09:58Me too.
09:59I've worked with unconventional materials like this.
10:02Gosh, I think like when I was in grade seven at my father's appliance store.
10:07For some reason, fabric and material always spoke to me.
10:11And now I've become known for my oversized boxy jackets.
10:15So, this jacket has to be perfect because I would love to finally get that one this week.
10:22I love this coat.
10:24Okay, you guys, what do you think of this structure?
10:27Wow.
10:28Oh, yes.
10:29Yes.
10:30This could be a very costumey, cosplay-ish challenge.
10:35And that's my wheelhouse.
10:37So, I'm making a pointed shoulder bustier with a matching sleeve that I'm going to turn into a glove.
10:42But the real selling point is these giant wide leg pants.
10:46Almost like a gliding Queen Amidala moment.
10:49This is going to just be like one side of the pant leg.
10:51And they're going to be really wide.
10:53I finally got this whole thing pleated.
10:56I'm feeling good about my design.
10:58I'm the only one who hasn't been on the bottom or the top.
11:02A lot of the work I do is one-of-a-kind pieces.
11:05So, maybe this will be enough to get the judges to notice me.
11:10I'm going to work faster if I'm going to get things done tonight.
11:13So, I know this isn't quite an avant-garde look.
11:16My look is definitely giving futuristic.
11:18I am making a mosaic corset dress.
11:21Super cool.
11:22Especially with all the metallic details.
11:24I just have to make sure it looks expensive and not just a craft project.
11:28It's way better, right?
11:29Yeah.
11:30I really don't like this fabric.
11:35A little feathering.
11:38I need to take a minute away from mine.
11:40How's yours going?
11:42This is my neoprene test.
11:44I don't know that this spiral is going to work in the neoprene.
11:47It could work, but you might need to just shorten this area to actually create more of a circular shape.
11:53I'm super intimidated.
11:55I'm surrounded by so many talented people.
11:59And everyone has an opinion.
12:01I just feel out of my realm.
12:03I'm feeling overwhelmed right now.
12:05It's a lot of critiquing at one time.
12:07Everything you have pinned looks...
12:09Okay, I got it.
12:10I got it.
12:11I got it.
12:12I just need some space.
12:14Okay, okay.
12:15I just don't want to let my team down.
12:17I know that they think I'm the weakest link.
12:21However, I'm really trying.
12:25We all just want you to do well.
12:27I just have to build up my confidence.
12:31Then you got this.
12:32Alright.
12:37I want my look to be the look that's embracing the yellow from this camouflage foil.
12:41But I can't be head to toe yellow.
12:43I don't want to stand out.
12:44I don't want to be the sore thumb.
12:45My look is the most saturated in yellow.
12:48Nobody else is making anything with yellow in it.
12:51I'm not cohesive with everybody else.
12:53We want to figure out where we can use this in your look, hey?
12:56You know what, though?
12:57I'm doing a yoke.
12:58Maybe I do my top yoke in this.
13:00Oh, okay.
13:01I really like that.
13:02Most of our team is actually doing quite well.
13:04Everyone has a clear vision.
13:06So I am not worried about our team being on the chopping block because our fabrics are solid and we have a very good story.
13:14Five minutes, everybody.
13:17Oh, wow.
13:19Let's go home, guys.
13:22Okay.
13:28This is it.
13:29Let's do it.
13:30Let's go.
13:32Come on over.
13:33Why don't we just have a quick check-in at the start of the day?
13:35We're doing avant-garde this week with custom fabrics.
13:38We need these moments of, like, color and shape to, like, make us feel something.
13:43It's not just going to be, like, clean lines in the future.
13:45I agree.
13:46I'm really happy with our team's idea.
13:48I'm making a three-piece look with a big white pant, a short bomber with big shoulder pads.
13:55I think it's completely doable to bring in everybody else's ideas.
13:59So I'm feeling pretty good.
14:01I forgot what our team name was.
14:05Can we just go one by one and just say, like, what we're going to be doing today?
14:10So I am still doing a corset.
14:11I will do with my chain nail silver fabric pants and long sleeve to the floor turtle head, neck.
14:20Um, I had no idea that Kat even had sketched out pants.
14:25Kat has seemed to shift her design and I don't know what is going down the runway, so I don't know how I'm supposed to match it.
14:31It's not me to do crazy shapes that go everywhere, so why should I do that?
14:38It's going to be fun.
14:43What do you think, Fancy Foster?
14:45Yes, girl. That is avant-garde.
14:47I love that.
14:50I'm super excited. I'm still working on my vision, but this is a team challenge and I've incorporated all of the team's suggestions, but it's still me at the end of the day.
15:05I just need to figure out how to keep the shape on the suit.
15:09This is going well, but I need it done for the thing.
15:12Oh, I know. I'm behind.
15:15I finished the shorts, finished the vests, finished the boots, finished the crop top.
15:20I still have so much to do.
15:22We also need to have elements that tie us together, so I'm just going to make it work and hope I'll be able to stand out in a good way.
15:30I just, I hope it's avant-garde enough.
15:33Good morning, designers!
15:35Hey!
15:36Hi!
15:37Your models are here.
15:40Hi there.
15:41Hello! How are you?
15:43Nice to meet you.
15:44It's a bit complicated because I've done all this pleading.
15:47It looks so good.
15:48Yeah, it's really flattering.
15:50Ooh! I like it!
15:53Foster.
15:54Tell me what's going on. I still see my favorite fabric on the table.
15:57I know. It's going to go somewhere.
15:58It is?
15:59I don't make a lot of menswear, but I do have a background in tailoring.
16:04For this look, I want to show something that is conceptual, futuristic, and well thought out.
16:11I have to figure out how I'm going to implement this into that.
16:15Does this feel okay? How does this feel comfort-wise?
16:18Oh! Oh my God, I'm so sorry.
16:20This fabric is very elegant. It's not giving me future.
16:24The structure will give you the future.
16:26So this boning would be sitting here, just to kind of give it that asymmetrical look.
16:33What you're not doing is making an evening gown and then sticking these on it, right?
16:39Yeah.
16:40You're not doing that.
16:41No.
16:42Future avant-garde.
16:43Awkward pieces.
16:45Awkward pieces?
16:47Oh my God, am I not good?
16:50To me, it's art.
16:52Avant-garde.
16:53Couture.
16:54So even though Aurora looks very concerned, I feel like I got this.
16:58It looks crazy, but it's not.
17:01Look, that is incredible.
17:04Wow, yeah.
17:05Let's see our family.
17:07This collection is cohesive.
17:08Modern avant-garde, but still within the world of believability.
17:12I see it.
17:13I see the vision.
17:14All five of us checking in with each other is giving everybody else confidence.
17:18Even Little Feather has confidence.
17:21Honey, you're eating.
17:22It's so good.
17:23A Little Feather's outfit might win the runway this week.
17:27I still need to topstitch this so it'll actually do what it's supposed to do.
17:31And you can hold it.
17:33Kat, we have pants.
17:34Yes?
17:35Delaine?
17:37Can you come over with your model?
17:38Yes, come.
17:39Ooh.
17:40Is this a knit?
17:41Yeah.
17:42Is this a knit?
17:43You haven't seen it?
17:44I haven't seen it up close like this.
17:46How are these ones having conversation?
17:49Because this is extremely structured.
17:51Yeah.
17:52And this is very flowy.
17:53All the details and everything gonna be here.
17:57On the waist?
17:59Have you guys talked about your looks together at all?
18:01These pants are perfect.
18:04Are they perfect for this challenge?
18:06I don't know, but I like them, okay?
18:08So just stop talking to me.
18:13I think that we have to line up the models.
18:16Okay.
18:17Curtis, can you run here to line the models?
18:21Rome, can we put stuff together?
18:23I don't even know what the f*** is going on over there.
18:32I see a lot of different kind of looks happening.
18:36They will need to be put together more.
18:39I have no idea what they're doing.
18:40I'm just seeing a lot of colors going on.
18:46Take one last look right now,
18:48because the fitting is officially over.
18:50Models, I need you guys out.
18:52Okay.
18:53You guys need to have, like, a little more urgency
18:56with making sure things are cohesive.
18:59Our group did not communicate as effectively
19:01as we should have.
19:02It absolutely makes me nervous.
19:03If I get put into the bottom
19:05because of other people's work,
19:07I will lose my mind.
19:10All right, designers.
19:11Two people are out this week.
19:13That's how much noncommunication
19:14is gonna cost you guys.
19:16You have a few hours left.
19:18Figure it out.
19:20I'll see you guys tomorrow.
19:24I'm feeling good on my part,
19:25but Kat's outfit is a bit different
19:28from everybody else's,
19:29and also Nemo's, I don't think, is very futuristic.
19:32If the team goes down, then I go down,
19:34and two people are going home,
19:36so it is do or die.
19:37I'm sewing up until the last minute.
19:41Less than ten minutes.
19:43Uh-oh.
19:44There's my scissors.
19:47Is it straight?
19:48Is it, like, stiff?
19:49I think when she walks,
19:50it's gonna bounce a bit.
19:56You guys, time's up.
19:57Oh, my God.
19:58I'm exhausted.
19:59I need to do the hood, the sleeve, and the color.
20:11Do you like it?
20:12Yes.
20:13Add more.
20:14It's wrinkling.
20:15It's stiff as hell.
20:16Today is a runway day,
20:18and I still have to do the bodice,
20:20but it isn't working.
20:21It's crinkly, it's bent,
20:23so I have to create a new one.
20:25I don't think I have enough.
20:27I might have.
20:28That?
20:29Fight for my life.
20:32Good morning, designers.
20:34Good morning.
20:35I brought your models.
20:36Hello, miss.
20:37Hello.
20:39I have two more flounces
20:41I'm gonna add to the back.
20:44Where's my model?
20:45You still have to iron the paint down.
20:48I'm missing your model.
20:50I am waiting and waiting.
20:52Your model is not here.
20:54And they're not coming.
20:57Oh.
20:58That is not what I want to hear.
21:00Not at this time.
21:02Not moments before the runway.
21:04I've got someone else for you.
21:06Okay.
21:07Perfect.
21:08Let me just see his mission.
21:10He's taller.
21:14I'm feeling the pressure and panic.
21:16There's no time for the changes.
21:19That's okay.
21:20We'll make it work.
21:21I wish they'd sent Tyson Beckford, but he wasn't available.
21:29Can I help you with anything?
21:30You're pasting and then trimming around it?
21:31Yeah.
21:32I'm on full-blown panic mode.
21:35I still don't have the material on the bodice.
21:38If I were you, I would top-stitch this all down.
21:41All around the border.
21:42At this point, I'm very worried that she's not even gonna have a look on the runway.
21:46This is a team challenge, and two people are going home this week.
21:49But I'm not gonna let anybody sink.
21:50If you want, I can take this and top-stitch around the whole thing at the industrial.
21:54Okay.
21:55Unfortunately, nothing is working out.
21:58Oh, my God.
21:59Nope.
22:00The needle broke.
22:01We're taping it.
22:02We're taping it.
22:03Well, the skirt is good.
22:06Thankfully, I only have one change to do on my new model, and that is to tighten the skirt.
22:12This is a quick fix.
22:13Foster, how you doing, baby?
22:14I'm good.
22:15Do you want to do a quick huddle?
22:16Yeah, are you ready?
22:17Yeah, yeah, we can do it.
22:18We can do it.
22:19Yeah.
22:20This is good.
22:21This is good.
22:22Uh, the brief was that each look has to feature both materials prominently, and I'm just seeing
22:33UV material.
22:34Where is the other material?
22:35I expected more.
22:39Aurora's right.
22:41We have to embrace this transparent print.
22:43I'm just melting plastic all over the place here.
22:46Oh, my God.
22:47No worries.
22:48No, keep going.
22:49Keep going.
22:50Don't worry about me.
22:51Designers, when you're ready, you can start bringing your models over to the L'Oreal Paris
22:56Glam Room.
22:59I'm excited to get your hair done.
23:02Yeah.
23:03I'm looking for a strong, bold eye, because we're 100 years in the future.
23:06I'm going to use a voluminous mascara.
23:08I'm actually going to use burgundy, because it's really going to accentuate her gorgeous blue eyes.
23:14Oh, yeah.
23:15I like that on the bottom.
23:16Yeah.
23:1710 minutes left, everybody.
23:22Gorgeous.
23:23Let's go.
23:24Start heading to the runway.
23:25Okay.
23:26It doesn't look that bad.
23:28All right.
23:29Final looks, everyone.
23:30Let's go.
23:31There's no thumb hole on this.
23:32I'm going to quickly make one.
23:33Can you turn?
23:34So, the back isn't finished.
23:35I don't know anymore.
23:36All right, designers, let's get these models out and onto the runway.
23:38I have to glue the edges so that it gives it a clean finish.
23:40Namo.
23:41Yeah.
23:42Namo.
23:43Yeah.
23:44Namo.
23:45Yeah.
23:46I'm...
23:47You got to go.
23:48I'm...
23:49You got to go.
23:50I know.
23:51I'm over this at this point.
23:52Currently, I am not happy with myself.
23:55I don't know.
23:56I don't know anymore.
23:57I don't know anymore.
23:58All right, designers, let's get these models out and onto the runway.
24:01I have to glue the edges so that it gives it a clean finish.
24:03Namo.
24:04Yeah.
24:05Namo.
24:06Yeah.
24:07Namo.
24:08Yeah.
24:09That's all I can say.
24:29Hi, designers.
24:30Hello.
24:31This week, your challenge was to create a cohesive collection of avant-garde fits suitable
24:38for the year 21-25.
24:41Tonight is a double elimination.
24:45Please say hello to your judges.
24:47Fashion designer, Spencer Badu.
24:49I hate designers.
24:51Fashion journalist, Jeannie Becker.
24:54Hi.
24:55Great to see you all.
24:57And our guest judge, celebrity makeup artist and co-founder of Patrick Ta Beauty, Patrick
25:04Ta.
25:05Hi, everyone.
25:06Oh, my God.
25:08Patrick Ta is here.
25:09He's the OG makeup influencer.
25:11He's a very big inspiration.
25:12I know.
25:13I'm super excited to be here.
25:14We'll be scoring your designs as they come down the runway.
25:17First up, team fashion.
25:18I feel amazing.
25:19I was shooting for something really big and dramatic.
25:22And, oh, my God.
25:23I did it.
25:24I'm really proud of my outfit this week.
25:27Yeah.
25:28My favorite thing about my outfit is that it gives that futuristic feeling, that avant-garde
25:34look.
25:35without being a costume.
25:36I want to show the judges a bit more of my style and the way I like to create shapes.
25:37I'm really proud of my outfit.
25:38I'm really proud of my outfit this week.
25:39I'm really proud of my outfit this week.
25:42Yeah.
25:43My favorite thing about my outfit is that it gives that futuristic feeling, that avant-garde
25:56look without being a costume.
25:59I want to show the judges a bit more of my style and the way I like to create shapes.
26:05I love the cutout in the back and the pants are the best thing I've done in this competition.
26:12Oh, this week, I feel I really did step up to the plate.
26:22I am so proud of my look.
26:26I finally get to show the judges the more conceptual side to my designs.
26:32I am so happy.
26:39This is the best thing I've ever made.
26:42It's avant-garde.
26:44I'm super confident.
26:47It's perfect.
26:48This jacket is exactly how I wanted it to look.
27:02I wanted it to feel light.
27:03I wanted it to feel heavy at the same time.
27:12And I know for a fact when you see this jacket, you will think of Charles Liv.
27:17I'm feeling confident about the runway.
27:21The five of them looked great together.
27:24Everybody had a really cool concept.
27:26They followed through with it.
27:28And I think all five of these people are all in the same universe.
27:33And now, team forward.
27:36I'm really proud of what I created.
27:41The skirt is just, it's everything.
27:43And you can really see all the detail and mosaic work I put into the corset.
27:48I probably could have pushed myself a little bit more.
27:52However, it's definitely given future.
27:54So I think I'm all right.
27:56The future is here.
28:01My model is a Monaxi, a caretaker who is here to defend all the people still living on
28:07earth a hundred years from now.
28:10She looks cool.
28:11She looks badass.
28:13I love the structure of the collar.
28:15It is bold, edgy, unique.
28:18I'm hoping they see my creativity.
28:25To me, this is avant-garde.
28:27It is bold and out of this world.
28:30I wanted to show the judges what I offer to this competition.
28:35This is what I do.
28:42I'm not feeling this one.
28:44I really don't.
28:46It's not perfect, but it shows my aesthetic.
28:50I really love this pants.
28:52At least the chainmail bodysuit is perfectly fitted.
29:02I'm really proud of this look.
29:04I think the pointed skirt and the open vest in the front is perfect.
29:07And this fun little cap is just the perfect way to tie it all together.
29:11I'm not happy with myself.
29:21It's not my best work.
29:23The front looks good.
29:25It's giving me that avant-garde look that I want.
29:28But the back isn't finished.
29:31It's yet another thing that I'm not happy with hitting the runway.
29:38It feels crappy.
29:40I am actually really proud of my team.
29:47Each of us really put so much work into the looks.
29:49Yes, there were some unfinished things with Nemo's dress.
29:54But when the seconds count down, there's not much you can do.
29:58Designers, please step up to the runway.
30:03You took us to a new time, but now your future is in our hands.
30:13Only one team will be in and two designers from the losing team will be out.
30:18Tonight, team fashion, you shine the brightest, you are the winning team, and you are all in.
30:31Yay!
30:33Thank you so much.
30:34Which means team forward, you are the losing team, and two of you will be out.
30:40Please leave the runway.
30:43You win some, you lose some.
30:47It was a very hard challenge.
30:49Team fashion, you may be the winners of this challenge, but I gotta tell you, I'm not that impressed.
30:57She's upset.
30:59We're gonna get it.
31:00And I was expecting a lot more.
31:04However, there were a few highlights.
31:06We're gonna take a look at some of the top looks from this team.
31:11Oh.
31:12Foster, you looked so shocked there.
31:14I wouldn't consider myself an avant-garde designer.
31:16Walk us through this avant-garde look, because your mom looks great.
31:19We referenced a hundred years ago, even today.
31:21So I felt that in a hundred years from now, there are things that we'd still look back upon.
31:25Tailoring would be one of them.
31:27Our concept was about the scarcity of resources, and I always find when something is scarce, it's a luxury.
31:34So man has this obsession with nature and earth.
31:38As you are explaining your design, I'm falling more in love with it.
31:43The way the folds flow, it's like really beautiful.
31:46Really divine.
31:47I love the juxtaposition of the structure of the top and then the fluidity of the bottom.
31:53It looks like it fits your model perfectly.
31:56You really got it to mold on the body.
31:58It was for a different model.
32:00I'm not really sure what happened to him, but he was a no-show.
32:03Well, you wouldn't know.
32:04Congratulations, Foster.
32:05Thank you so much, Edges.
32:06And the next top look from this team.
32:09Oh my God, that's me.
32:11Leland, tell us about this look.
32:13I specifically wanted to play with angles, shapes, and I wanted to do something that was really non-gendered.
32:19I love the silhouette.
32:20Let's start with the shoulders.
32:21Shoulders are amazing.
32:22There's just kind of a beautiful connection and symmetry with the lines here.
32:26The pleats on the pants are so well executed.
32:30It transported me.
32:31I immediately started thinking about what character would this be in a movie.
32:35But sometimes I think maybe, is it too costumey?
32:38It'll be interesting to see what comes down the runway from you in the next few weeks.
32:42I know he can do costume.
32:44However, I want from this day forth for us to never say that word again.
32:48Thank you, Leland.
32:49Thank you so much.
32:50Thank you so much.
32:51And now our final top look of this team.
32:56Charles, you time traveled and you brought back some receipts.
32:59I wanted to play with these biomorphic shapes and I wanted to create all these butterfly wings.
33:04And have a return to nature.
33:07Yeah, honestly, I was blown away when I saw this come down the runway.
33:10It's amazing.
33:11It felt futuristic.
33:12I'm so impressed.
33:13Definitely a beautiful piece.
33:15Artful, imaginative.
33:17Both materials were standouts.
33:19It wasn't like you were trying to fit them in.
33:20You were trying to showcase them.
33:22It was the perfect piece to close the show.
33:25Thank you so much.
33:26Charles, Foster, Leland, you are our top designers of the week.
33:33But only one of you will be the winner.
33:35Maya and Littlefeather, you're both still in.
33:38You can all leave the runway.
33:42Congratulations.
33:43Congratulations to you.
33:45You guys, we did it.
33:46We did it.
33:47We did it.
33:48We did it.
33:52Hello, designers.
33:53Unfortunately, you are the losing team.
33:55Let's bring out the looks that scored the lowest in your team's collection.
33:59Here's the first.
34:04Oh, yes.
34:05Cat, tell us about this look.
34:06Our story was, it's like an apocalyptic situation.
34:10So we need to protect ourselves.
34:12So I did a full bodysuit of chainmail.
34:15I'm really confused.
34:16This does not feel futuristic at all.
34:19I am a fan of a stretchy tight catsuit.
34:22But a glittery fabric, I just didn't think was aesthetically pleasing.
34:26This is just bad taste.
34:29And I know you can do way better.
34:31Thank you, cat.
34:32Let's bring out the next lowest score.
34:34The other room explained this look for us.
34:41100 years from now, our earth is damaged due to climate change, resource extraction.
34:48And if anyone understands that, it's indigenous people.
34:51So my thinking was, she's a protector.
34:54She's someone we look to for guidance and strength.
34:57Your heritage is beautiful.
34:59Your story is beautiful.
35:01But the outfit simply isn't.
35:02I commend you for using both fabrics.
35:05But it just felt a bit chaotic.
35:08For me, I had trouble seeing these pieces jive together.
35:13Thank you, Del Romic.
35:15And our final lowest score of the night.
35:22Nemo.
35:24Your model wasn't able to continue wearing your design.
35:28So they won't be coming out.
35:32Oh.
35:33Oh.
35:34My.
35:35Gosh.
35:36Tell us what happened.
35:38It was very tough working with the foil.
35:40Everything just fell apart.
35:42And so the top wasn't finished.
35:44So then I taped and glued on the edges.
35:47Glue on the model?
35:48Yeah.
35:49Glue on their skin?
35:50Yeah.
35:51A little bit, yeah.
35:53Designers do not bring down dresses that are glued to models.
36:00I'm beating myself up for it right now.
36:02I feel for you.
36:03And I want to cry with you.
36:05I was watching you as your model was walking down the runway.
36:08I could see defeat within your eyes.
36:11To be honest, I felt like a burden already in this group because I wasn't picked at all.
36:16So, yeah.
36:18Yeah.
36:19I think we would all feel the same way, honestly.
36:23Thank you, Nemo.
36:25Kat, Delarunic, and Nemo, two of you will be out.
36:31Delaine, Curtis, and Rome, you're all still in.
36:37Designers, you can all leave the runway.
36:40Oh, for sure.
36:45That was a lot.
36:47Mama.
36:48Hey, baby.
36:49That was hard to lie.
36:50Yeah.
36:51All right.
36:52Let's talk about who should be our winner.
36:54If you look at someone like Leland, we've seen this consistent level of craftsmanship.
36:59I love the cutout of the transparent print.
37:01It kind of felt like fire.
37:03I believe that we have a very talented designer here.
37:05This outfit is absolutely incredible.
37:07But it did feel a bit costumey, and that is not where we really want to be going with Leland.
37:13I do think this challenge does require a bit of costume.
37:16What about Foster?
37:18I mean, his mom didn't show up.
37:20When he's under pressure, he can actually do better.
37:22I thought Foster did an amazing job, no question.
37:25And I also like the fact that there was a real gender-fluid vibe to that.
37:30I love the top.
37:31The top was very sweet, very futuristic.
37:34Charles, his design was immaculate.
37:37This was one of my favorite looks.
37:38The shape, it was definitely boundary pushing.
37:40I thought it was a great utilization of the materials.
37:43That headpiece was something that you would see on a red carpet.
37:47I thought it was almost in a league of its own.
37:50Now, who should be worried that they're going home tonight?
37:53It's a tough one.
37:54I really believe that Nemo's got talent, but the craftsmanship was just really bad.
38:00And very little about it screamed futuristic to me.
38:04The top was... I don't even know how that thing was...
38:07On.
38:08On. Not well constructed.
38:09Business in the front, and I was like panic in the back.
38:12Let's not forget Tet. That was... atrocious.
38:15I was like a bad home ec project.
38:18It was an avant-garde. I think the capelet was ill-fitting.
38:22I would be embarrassed to walk down the runway with that.
38:24But I just found Kat's look much more aesthetically pleasing than Dalarumix.
38:29This felt like material thrown into a futuristic washing machine.
38:35Sometimes less is more.
38:37It really was very disappointing.
38:39Bottom line is, this is a runway, and these outfits don't spark excitement.
38:45It is embarrassing. It sucks.
38:47I literally cried when yours went down the runway.
38:50I was thinking of all the Indigenous girls watching.
38:54Just seeing that representation is so important.
38:57It was a powerful moment.
38:59Okay, it looks like we made our decisions.
39:01Let's bring the designers back.
39:05Foster, Charles, and Leland.
39:12The top look tonight was innovative, conceptual, and inventive.
39:18The winner of this challenge is...
39:25Charles.
39:30Congratulations.
39:31Thank you so much.
39:32Oh my God.
39:33I'm feeling so good.
39:35Everyone, finally.
39:37To hear that is so validating as a designer.
39:40I wanted to prove myself and for people to feel something.
39:44Thank you so much.
39:45You have a very bright future ahead.
39:48I really believe in you.
39:49Jeannie Becker loves me.
39:51I love her.
39:52I've watched her ever since I was a kid.
39:55I followed her journey and now she's following mine.
39:58Foster and Leland, you're still in.
40:01And you can all leave the runway.
40:06Guess who won.
40:07Guess who won.
40:08Yay!
40:09Yay!
40:10Wow!
40:11Wow!
40:12Wow!
40:13Wow!
40:14Wow!
40:15Namo, Dalarumik, and Kat.
40:18This was an incredibly difficult decision to make.
40:24We see the potential in all three of you, but tonight, two of you will be out.
40:33Kat, you are in.
40:45You can leave the runway.
40:46Thank you very much.
40:48Um, I will really try to do my best.
40:52It's the second time and I really hope you're gonna see, really, me this time.
40:58Make it count, Kat.
41:00Yes.
41:03Oh, my God.
41:04Welcome back.
41:05You're here.
41:06My roomie.
41:07Guys, no, no, but you know what that means.
41:10Oh, my God.
41:11That was so lovely, guys.
41:12Oh, yeah.
41:13That means Namo and Dalarumik are going home.
41:16Namo, Dalarumik?
41:18I'm sorry, but you're both out.
41:21Thank you so much for sharing yourselves with us.
41:24This might be the end of your journey of Project Runway, but it's not the last that we will see of both of you.
41:30Bye, lovies.
41:31Oh, you look beautiful.
41:32Aw.
41:33You, too.
41:34Nice to meet you.
41:35Nice to meet you, too.
41:38Take care.
41:39Obviously, I would have liked to have gone further in this competition.
41:46Bring it in.
41:47Bring it in.
41:48I just want to make people feel beautiful in the things that I create.
41:52I just want to say tonight was obviously extremely tough.
41:57We lost two incredibly talented designers.
42:03Namo, Dalarumik, it's time to say your final goodbyes.
42:08I'm happy that I let myself be seen.
42:11I really do appreciate the opportunity that was given to me.
42:15And I know this is not the end for me in my business.
42:19It's the beginning of something amazing.
42:22And I'm going to be amazing.
42:29Next time on Project Runway Canada.
42:31Oh.
42:32You're designing two looks in one.
42:34A reveal.
42:35That transforms lawlessly on the runway.
42:38Wild.
42:39How many transitions are there?
42:41Four to five.
42:42That's a lot.
42:43I am not finished yet.
42:45I thought you were going to come a little bit later.
42:48I didn't finish the pants.
42:50This, this doesn't feel like you.
42:52Is it a schoolgirl?
