A day after an Afghan national opened fire on two National Guard members near the White House, President Donald Trump has announced one of the most sweeping immigration moves in modern U.S. history: a “permanent pause” on migration from what he called “all Third World Countries.”

The proposal, unveiled in a fiery Truth Social post, marks a dramatic escalation in Trump’s long-running push to tighten America’s borders — and comes at a moment of high tension after the attack that left one Guard member dead and another fighting for his life.

00:00A day after an Afghan national opened fire on two National Guard members near the White House,
00:24President Donald Trump has announced one of the most sweeping immigration moves in modern U.S. history,
00:32a permanent pause on migration from what he called all third-world countries.
00:37The proposal, unveiled in a fiery Truth Social post,
00:42marks a dramatic escalation in Trump's long-running push to tighten America's borders
00:47and comes at a moment of high tension after the attack
00:51that left one Guard member dead and another fighting for his life.
00:56Trump framed the new policy as a necessary reset,
01:00arguing that decades of immigration have strained the American system.
01:05His plan would do far more than halt new arrivals.
01:09It calls for
01:10terminating what he described as millions of Biden-era admissions,
01:16ending federal benefits for non-citizens,
01:19denaturalizing migrants who undermine domestic tranquility,
01:23deporting anyone deemed a public charge,
01:26security risk, or non-compatible with Western civilization.
01:30He also vowed to reverse what he called the horrendous Afghanistan airlift,
01:37insisting that hundreds of thousands entered the country totally unvetted.
01:42The remarks came just hours after Trump blamed the National Guard shooting
01:47on failed vetting under the Biden administration.
01:50He has since ordered a massive review of asylum decisions,
01:54green cards issued to people from 19 countries,
01:57and all immigration approvals granted since 2021.
02:01As you may know, DHS has confirmed that the suspect is an Afghan national
02:06flown here by the previous administration,
02:10who was such a bad administration.
02:14And I have a picture of a plane.
02:18This is what it looked like when they came in.
02:20It was total bedlam.
02:21Do you remember that period of time?
02:23Total bedlam.
02:25People crammed onto the plane.
02:27And the toughest, meanest, most capable physically got on the plane.
02:34Not the people that we were looking for or that they wanted to bring in.
02:38Here's a picture for you.
02:39Just take a look at that plane.
02:41Standing on top of each other and sitting on top of each other.
02:44This is what we had under the Biden administration.
02:47Trump officials say the new crackdown began almost immediately.
02:51Within 24 hours of the shooting,
02:53the Department of Homeland Security confirmed a sweeping review of asylum cases,
02:58while U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced re-examinations of green cards
03:04and stricter screening ahead.
03:06The administration has already moved aggressively on visas,
03:10revoking nearly 80,000 in recent months for offenses ranging from DUI to assault.
03:16Trump ended his statement with a warning and a holiday jab, writing,
03:22Happy Thanksgiving to all.
03:24Except those that hate, steal, murder, and destroy everything that America stands for.
03:30You won't be here for long.
03:32The announcement signals that immigration will once again be a defining battle for Trump's presidency,
03:38now supercharged by a deadly shooting just steps from the nation's seat of power.
